Had the same thing at home and it lasted a good 7 years before breaking. So bought another one….just as pleased, except the price especially with delivery on top. A tad expensive for what it is.
After owning several flimsy supermarket tin openers, I decided to pay slightly more for a well known and reliable brand name. I was quite surprised when I received this tin opener that it was so thin – obviously it’s the standard size from side to side, but the plastic handles are quite flat. I was a bit worried that I would struggle with this as a have slight arthritis in my hands, but so far it has been fine. The cutting blade is more than sharp enough to cope with all the tins I have tried. A bonus of the thin-ness of the opener is that it fits easily into the cutlery drawer, and doesn’t get caught when trying to open it like others I have owned previously. The design of the handle for turning doesn’t look like it would be comfortable, but actually it is, and is easy to grip. Overall it is quite a plain design, but I like the victorinox logo on the handle, it makes it stand out from generic brands. Feels sturdy when using, no doubt it will last a good amount of time before it needs replacing.
For some reason the last 3 openers I have bought, including big brands (J&J) have all been absolutely rubbish.
But this one is great. Opens well, easy to use and sturdy.
Tenho um faz 8 meses e esse comprei de presente. Outros mais baratos e at de marcas nacionais conhecidas mal duraram 6 meses.
E achei incrvel como ele corta a lata sem deixar aquela rebarba afiada, evitando acidentes.
This is 100x better than the cheap ones you find in a grocery store. Had been tired of finding ones that only lasted a few cans. Been using this for a month and each time I open a can I can’t believe how easily this works. So far no rust, trying to make sure I dry right after washing, but seems tons better than any other brand I’ve had. Hoping this will last for years!
My wife and I have tried several brands of can openers over the last several years only to find that they may work for a couple of times or for a couple of kinds of cans, but do not do the job on a consistent basis. I did my homework and researched this one, and we have been very pleased with it. It grips the can snugly and then cleanly cuts it without jumping or missing spots. Highly recommended purchase.
this Victorinox can opener works! it looks like it’s hinge pinis stainless steel though the body is chromed steel so it could rust in the future. the bushings for the cutters are metal which 99% of the can openers out there now have plastic bushings which bend and wear down resulting in a can opener that last about 4-6 months. This can opener isnt fancy but it works and looks like it will last 20 years hopefully… if your grandmother has an old can opener from the 80s you might wanna see if she’ll part with it.
Bought one of these when I first saw them 6 years ago. I cannot count how many tins I’ve opened with it and it still works prefectly. If it ever breaks I’d be more than happy to buy another.
