Less cleaning up as you can burn off and brush off anything left so less pans to clean. Quality kit.
I purchased a separate thermometer, drilled hole through the lid and attached. The one I purchased came from amazon EU, much cheaper than ordering from the UK, arrived after 2 weeks, stated one month when ordered.
Gas bottles are expensive in the UK though compared to most other European countries.
Great item.
I’ve never really been into BBQing; I enjoy other people doing it, not so much myself. Moreover, while we did have a traditional charcoal BBQ, we never bothered with it unless we had guests as it was too much hassle to cook a small amount of food.
Still, we missed the ability to cook food outside in the sun rather than indoors.
My mate has a smaller version of this one for camping, and he swears by it. He’s generally always the type to buy quality kit, so when I saw a decent deal for this one, I had to jump on it.
All in all it set me back just under 400 for the BBQ and gas bottle (which was much bigger than I was expecting!).
When the BBQ arrived, the number of parts along with the instructions for testing the gas bottle and whatnot was quite intimidating, but to be fair once you get started, it is pretty straightforward to put together, and certainly feels like a quality item.
Once you’ve got it set up though, usage is a breeze. One thing I would say for people like myself who aren’t familiar with gas BBQs, is that when I first fired it up, I thought it wasn’t working, because I couldn’t see the flames (on a bright day), but I soon realised it was certainly heating up.
Such an easy thing to use; fold out the side tables, turn on the gas bottle, turn the knob to ignite and press the fire button, it usually fires up first time, and hovering over the grille will confirm it’s working.
Big and spacious, it’s an absolute pleasure to cook on. I wouldn’t ever go back to a charcoal. My food always tastes BBQ’d to me.
Again, as someone unfamiliar to BBQs generally, just remember to oil the grilles unless you want your food to stick (found out the hard way!). I now pour oil on some kitchen roll and rub over the grilles while heating up.
It’s great being able to simply fire this up as and when you need it, so you can have a break between snacks without having to have the thing on the whole time like you would a charcoal BBQ.
Very easy to clean afterwards too.
Excellent bit of kit that should hopefully last years! Not cheap, but you get what you pay for.
As a family we are so happy with this BBQ. We’ve really enjoyed using it. It was simply enough to build. It’s easy to use. Easy to keep clean and easy to store (if you buy the Weber cover). Zero complaints from us.
I had always wanted 1 of these as they last. Previously I’ve bought a cheap gas bbq every 2 years and binned it.
Finish is good and the main shells are cast alloy. Lightweight and the stand is handy but quite flimsy on firm ground, works best on sand / grass if you push the legs into the ground.
It cleans easily and both griddle plates fit in a dishwasher! Grease catcher is a disposable tray which is a good design so it also catches all the muck when cleaning it out.
Its quite a low burner and seems the gas flow is quite regulated so you cant get it too hot. Also seems quite efficient on using gas. We light it and close the lid to get it to the best temperature.
Price paid on amazon was sub 300 the same one without a stand in b&q was 450.
