You cannot go wroung with this game it has a lot of tracks and they are all exellent there are a lot of ships and a lot of different modes and if you have a PS4 pro you can play it in 4k at a smooth 60fps
but it still looks amazing on the PS4 slim.
what you get here is the fullpackage but it takes a bit of getting used to as you are flying not driving
a little tip i can offer is dont use the training wheel option it dosent work all the time and you dont learn to control the ship.
if you want to know more check out Skillup on youtube he has done an extensive review of the game.

I bought this purely for the vr experience but can be played 2d,the game is solid in terms of game play & being able to sit in the sit & view everything around you ,feel your stomach drop as you speed down a sheer drop isn’t something you can convey into words…seeing is believing

    Just a wonderfully fun game.

Deserves a bigger online community than it has. The game is simply brilliantly made. Absolutely love it, and even offline it is great fun. Got me through the early weeks of covid lockdown nicely.

For anyone who can remember the originals, this is just a dream come true. Amazing remake, 4K 60FPS is perfection for this game. Superb updated soundtrack and loads of contents. A must buy.

There are a few versions of the game on the disc and when you get used to them they are all fun. Setting up for two players is difficult. The older version of the game on the disc is more fun and easier to play than the newer game.

Wipeout was a super game in 2d however 3d elevates it to a different level, smooth, fast with fantastic sound! It definitely challenges those people who get a bit woozy with the whole vr thing, but not enough to drop it any stars

No matter how good this game is I would leave 5 stars even if it was bad. I was playing it last 20+ years so if you don’t know what Wipeout was, go play something else. If not sure about Soundtrack, play Spotify Soundtrack, there is “WipeOut Soundtracks 1995 – 2015” so enjoy 🙂

The 2048 game in this is bordering on impossible.

The hd and fury tracks are brilliant, and pose just the right level of challenge…maybe a little too easy but great fun. I just can’t get past a certain point in 2048. It’s far too hard, even for an experienced Wipeout player, which takes away from the enjoyment.

However there are lots of different modes to try throughout. I particularly enjoy the combat and eliminator games.

I suggest for Wipeout beginners, get to grips with the HD and Fury tracks first, and make sure you have pilot assist ON until you’ve mastered the controls.

Once you’ve done as much as you can this way, it’s time to take the stabilizers off and try the faster 2048 tracks with Pilot Assist OFF. This is the only way you can win on the later 2048 challenges, as using pilot assist slows your ship down on corners, and every fraction of a second counts.

    UPDATE

I have given the game another star as they have finally made me dreams come true by releasing an update which makes the game completely VR compatible.

It looks absolutely incredible, and feels great to be sitting in the cockpit!

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersVibrant, colourful, extremely fast moving, the WipEout games are PlayStation classics so it was great to see HD, HD Fury and 2048 rolled up into one and released for the PS4. If you’ve never played a WipEout game before, you might be torn between reviewers telling you its great and others telling you it’s way too hard, but the joy of this release is that there is plenty of content in one of the easier titles (WipEout HD & HD Fury) to keep you satisfied if you’re finding aspects of 2048 too hard. On the other hand, there’s nothing like the sense of satisfaction associated with completing those harder circuits.

Multiplayer is a blast but unfortunately – just seven months after release – something is stifling the growth of the online community. Most of the time, most of the regions are dead. EU seems to be busiest thankfully, but even that is dead for huge chunks of the day. I’ve found that evening and late night are the times you’re most likely to find games, but even that’s not guaranteed.

I’m not sure why this is. Maybe because the online lobby implementation is very poor. There is no matchmaking for example. You just have to create a game and wait for others to arrive or join someone else’s game. This often results in a mass level mismatch (level 1-5 players racing against those who are level 50 upwards) which I’m sure drives a lot of newbies away. Or maybe it’s the PS+ online requirement for PS4? I’ve been a PlayStation Plus subscriber since its inception and I can’t help noticing that WipEout Omega Collection is attracting nowhere near the number of online players as WipEout HD did on PS3 (which has free online play).

We can only hope the WipEout Omega Collection ends up being given away as a free PS+ title in order to boost the number of online players, but that’s something of a bitter pill for those of us who bought it, no?

It’s a bit tricky but good fun. It’s 3 games built in 1.
Long and short of it is that it’s the old 3 wipeout games brought up to date with ps4 graphics yet the price is really cheap for ps4

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersThis game is so savage, crazy fast, silky smooth and absolutely mind bending. This is perfect for any adrenaline junkies that love race games.
I have purchased all wipeout games since the ps1 days and still love them. This collection is by far the best and has a massive amount of content so you will never run out of challanges or amazing tracks to fly around on. The graphics are just ridiculous with a jaw dropping frame rate, it is drool worthy. I am sure that most of the HD tracks can be played in reverse too and that can be very trippy. There is too much content to go through every single mode but they are all MENTAL fun. This game is very fast too so dont even think about blinking.

If you are even interested in buying this have a quick look on youtube and preview it……just have ONE look at this game.

This game is a belter. While we don’t have the classic 2047, the three games here run smoothly, are tough as nails and have a fantastic set of beats to race to.

If you have some nostalgia for the old days of anti-grav racing, get this game!

Zone is to survive for as long as you can, every 10 seconds, the speed will increase There is no ending during zone mode!
Zone battle (HD/fury only) is to reach the Target zone before the AI/players do. You hit speed pads to charge up your boost, when it’s at max (8.0) Your zone will increase by 8.
Detonator (HD/fury only) is like a shoot em up mode for WipEout omega collection. Shoot mines, bombs, use EMP if theres a lot of mines you see. For score, Chain the mines without missing to increase your score! Detonator round will end after 14 laps.
Tournaments, customize your tracks into one against the AI or with friends

    2048 In 1080p/60fps

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersMy god! The memories come flooding back. This was always one of my favourite games on the original PS1 console. It was just better than the straight forward facing games of the time. The anti gravity aspect was just brilliant and it still is. The tracks are great and the graphics are breathtaking.
My only gripe with it is that I have got to a stage where it has just become insanely hard to complete one particular level. I forget the name of the track but you not have to complete 1 quick lap and come in the 1st 3. I’m lucky if I don’t come last every time. There is probably a secret turn somewhere that I’m missing.
That being said, this was worth every penny and will be in the console for quite some time yet. Best thing is that Sony are not fleecing us for it. An amazing price for nostalgia overload brought into the next generation of consoles (shame the same can’t be said for the new Crash Bandicoot).

I love this game. It’s fast and fun to play with others. I am not a gamer so only buy games you can play with others. It’s a bit like a slightly grown up version of Mario kart which is my all time favourite game. The random weapons and powers can change the whole game.

3 Great games on 1 disc.
Wipeout omega collection contains wipeout 2048 from the ps vita,
wipeout hd and fury from the PS3, all remastered for the PS4 make this a great collection, even running at 4K 60fps on the PS4 pro.
I already own wipeout hd and fury on the PS3, so couldn’t wait to play the vita version. But if you’ve already played all 3 I’m not sure if its worth dip, non the less I still enjoy them.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersA great piece of reminiscing playing some of the WipEout games once again. On the PS4 Pro with 4k and all the trimmings, it looks absolutely stunning, some of the best graphics you’ll see for a fair while. The game flies by at one heck of a pace and is great fun to play. If you enjoyed the games in the past, you’ll love them now. If you never played them, this is a great place to start.

This game is a true blast from the past. The soundtrack is just as good as the previous. Let me tell you that the visuals in this game are simply stunning. 1080 hd is more than fine, no need for 4k with graphics like this. I want to wake up in the middle of the night and unlock some more super cool ships by winning some more races. That’s the kind of game this is.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersOne morning I am eating cheese on toast. Wipeout pops through the letterbox. I ripped open the packaging and shoved the disc into the PS4 Pro.
What followed next was a solid 1080p 60fps stomach churning ride with dips and turns that almost sent my food back out.

Wipeout is filled with terrific tracks, and supersmooth, fast gameplay. Everything that you remember from the old titles is here in glorious full HD running at 60fps. If you’ve got a 4k TV/Monitor then switch off motion blur for a full on native 4k60 output.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersThis game is just the game i needed right now!

I play a few games at a time, a story driven game and a fun ‘I’ll just have a quick go’ game. This perfectly fits the later. When I have an hour to kill this is spot on. And it is great value too! 3 games in one, I have just finished the first one (2048) and have 2 more to get through, it’s cheap and has a good amount of content. I am not finding the game too hard (some levels are definitely tricky to get the highest rating but a bit of practice and it’s not too much trouble.

It also looks and plays impeccably! I have a PS4 Pro and a Samsung 4K HDR tv and this is one of the shiniest looking games i have played yet. The performance is also rock solid, super smooth.

I think if you have ever enjoyed any wipeout before you will enjoy this!

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersIf nothing else this serves as a trip down memory lane for all those original PlayStation owners. The visuals are superb, as smooth as can be. It also has a fitting sound track with a mix of Club & Drum&Bass tracks, which for me a lot of racing games lack.

A retro-fit of the original WipEout this is not, it’s a superb racing game (with battle elements) in it’s own right. I have been playing this for 20+ hours and there’s still lots to do. For me it’s the best racer available on the PS4. With the split screen two player mode it’s like a ‘grown-up’ Mario Kart – great fun!!

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersI’m old enough to have played the amazing original Wipeout on my Ps one that I got a week early (Sony shop lad didn’t realise its release date was supposed to be non negotiable!)
The graphics and sound are great, the sense of speed is still there. It’s difficulty has been eased with collisions not stopping you dead on track. Ps1 version was brutal with punishment, but as I’m from the generation of three lives to complete a game,no saves and no internet to help or cheat guides online ……I’ll mange.
    Definitely recommended

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersHow good is it being a PS4 owner? We’ve got some belting exclusive games such as Horizon Zero Dawn, we always get a cross platform game that’s at least as good as the Xboners, and then we have access to such a rich back-catalogue of games ripe for remastering. With the likes of Crash Bandicoot on the way shortly we’ve now been treated to an updated Wipeout. Sometimes retro games don’t age quite as well as you hope, but this new Wipeout brings back the adrenaline pumping action of years gone by. If you’re used to previous Wipeout games then you don’t need telling how fast and intense the action is, and there’s plenty of repeat play value here trying to beat your times or competing online.

If you’ve not played Wipeout, or indeed other similar games such as F-Zero or Rollcage, these are very different to normal driving games. I’ve got a Logitech G29 steering wheel but I wouldn’t dream of using it for this. This game is a joypad all the way. It’s very fast paced, short and snappy. A couple of minutes per stage, and then move on to the next. The graphics are fantastic even without a Pro spec PS4. The sound is still superb even without the same classic tunes as yesteryear. It has immediate pick-up-and play attraction, allowing you to get straight into the action if you’ve only got 10-15 minutes spare.

And to top it all off, it’s only 25. It’s a PS4 must buy.

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersLike Wipeout on PS3? Wondering if it’s really worth buying the same game on PS4, when Wipeout HD and HD Fury already looks great and is a very slick racer on PS3? Is it really that much of an update that justifies buying it again?

    F* Yeah!

This isn’t just a new lick of paint with some glossy textures and a new soundtrack, oh no. Everything now has a depth that makes the PS3 version look, well.. flat! From the power ups to the spectators in the stands, the scenery and track design, and with tons of other extra details like the cruise ships in the bay, the antigrav craft in the sky, and the updates to the antigrav racers themselves; the vapour from the exhaust vents, the pilots and the now legible text on the panelling is what makes this a worthy remaster. We could have had a new game, and I hope we do get one sometime in the near future (if you want one right now, go check out Formula Fusion on Steam), either way, this remaster is well worth your 25!

And it isn’t just the visuals that have been given an overhaul, the sound effects have also been updated. With new anitgrav ship sounds, additional speech and bigger and louder explosions, all of which really makes the game even more immersive.

Game play has also been enhanced. It’s smoother, faster and more slick than ever before and while I liked the weaponry in previous versions, I never felt like I was really battling for position. Now I’m fighting for every position!

I didn’t get round to playing 2048, so for me the addition of that game makes it worth my 25 alone. I would liked to have seen some more consistency between the games with standardised components like the power ups. They’re different between games and while it’s a minor detail I feel it would have made for a smoother transition between them.

I pre-ordered Omega with the steel case. It’s a nice touch, but probably should have been an either / or. I’ve now got two cases, the standard and the steel case. The pre-order also came with 4 downloadable themes. I received an email with a download code which is redeemed via the PS4 Redeem menu. The themes are nice, but if you missed them because you didn’t pre-order the game, I’m sure other themes will become available in the PlayStation Store. If not, the in-game Photo options from the controller Share button enables you to capture great shots which you can save and use as a wallpaper.

If there’s one complaint I’ve got so far, it’s an annoyance in 2048 where I’ll crash into a wall and get stuck there with no obvious easy way to free myself. Hopefully this gets fixed with an update.

I hope they also remaster 2097 and release it as a DLC. It has some great tracks and was the game that introduced me to the Wipeout series. Make it happen, Sony!

For those that want custom soundtracks, I haven’t yet found an option for this. It may get added as an update and should be. For now I’m using my audio mixer to route sound from the game and another source (phone, laptop etc) to my speakers. It’s not ideal and the tracks don’t transition dynamically with the game, but it’s better than nothing.

Did I mention; Eye-popping? Gorgeous? Dynamic? A roller-coaster of an eye watering ride? Fast, frantic.. ZOOM! There, done.

Don’t forget to blink once in a while!

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersAs someone who loved the original WipEouts on the PS1 (and still have the WipEout 3 SE), but missed out on the three HD versions that have been redone for this game, this is bringing me immense joy. Played for hours and feel like I’ve barely scratched the surface; there are so many tracks, ships and modes to play that I can see this being something I’ll be chipping away at for months. I’m happy about that.

Even playing on a ‘normal’ PS4 with full HD but not 4K, this still looks beautiful and never, ever stutters – with several ships all battling together at top speed there isn’t a single frame rate issue. It is smooth and constant, gracious even. The tracks and backgrounds are stunning, filled with life and colour. Then there are the Zone mode versions, which through intense neon shades are a nice little nod to the old school, when raving and gaming came together in harmony. Of course, this nostalgia is further enhanced by the superb soundtrack; WipEout – along with Rollcage and SSX Trick – is what got me into electronica and drum and bass, and this edition carries that torch onward with some real stompers.

I only stopped playing because my eyes couldn’t take the awesomeness any more. And for 25!!! What an absolute bargain.

My only gripe isn’t with the game as such, but I do miss the fact that on PS3 I could play my own tracks from the HDD. surely I’m not the only one that thought ‘Spitfire’ by The Prodigy was made for Wipeout!

Beautifully remastered with stunning graphics and rolling smooth gameplay. The robotic voice announcing your weapon pick ups then taking out an opponent with a missile is so satisfying, and not forgetting the husky female warning you of danger lol. Banging soundtrack which sounds great through home cinema system as well. Totally worth the money considering most games of this high quality are 50 these days.
