I have to say not a DC fan but after enjoying the first Wonder Woman film ( bought because Chris Pine was in it! ) I decided to give the second a go. All actors give great performances ( Gal Gadot, Pedro Pascal ( who gives a fun performance ) and Chris Pine) it’s just that the story doesn’t quite live up to its predecessor. I stuck with it and did enjoy it and have now watched it a couple of times. The end of the film was way to sickly sweet, and let the story down. Would still recommend. A good not great watch.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI’d put off seeing this film ’till now thanks to its poor reception. Classic DC film adventure, has some sad moments and some comedy. This film was really good fun, what the hell was everyone’s problem when it came out with all the terrible reviews…?!!

It just a video so I won’t bore you with a review apart from it was totally rubbish. On the other hand the service from the supplier was great, arrived in one piece and on time

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThe film opens to a fly through of the Amazonians homeland before focusing on a young Diana, then jumps to 1984, where we see an adult Diana working at the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C., where she soon comes into contact with a super natural artifact that brings on the main plot of the movie.
The main issue for me was that it took half an hour to get anywhere near the actual plot (lose a*). However, once the plot comes into play this is a lively super-hero movie and abounds with thrills. Gal Gadot and the lead cast members do a good job and the special effects do not disappoint (regain a *)
This single disc opens to a main screen offering play, scenes selection, languages (English, English descriptive, Polski, Polski Lektor) and subtitles in most Scandinavian languages and some east European, and there is a scene study (a making of piece -set in the Mall)
Although this doesn’t have swearing or overt sexual content, it does feature enormous amounts of ‘Super-Hero’ style violence that makes it unsuitable for younger viewers. I also found the sound a little muffled and difficult to understand in the earlier scenes (despite using a sound system)
Suspension of beliefs always comes into effect in these types of movies but this does push the boundary a little too much as weak scripting creates many plot holes and discrepancies. Entertainment wise it’s a ***** rating but does need a trim to move certain sections along (especially the beginning) and the ending wasn’t clearly thought through IMHO. Would I watch this again, probably next year, not sooner, which means overall it gets a **** from me.

I loved the first WW film and this one is a good follow up. Interesting story although I did find Kristen Wiig’s character annoying. The only issue i had was that the sealed bluray actually contained the original WW film and not WW84! Had to go buy another copy and return this one. Not sure how that happened but the returns process was simple thanks to an amazon locker 2 minutes from my house.

I liked this more than I was expecting. There is a love from the director definitely and she was trying to go for moments of revelation vibe, Shamlayan style. More introspective than a normal hero movie but not unwelcome. I don’t think this is going to launch a new niche though. Big budget shows but those fireworks are obviously studio led as the script indicates meaningful looks rather than action pieces. I still think about the movie so it has something going on, whatever that may be.

Package arrived on time and in excellent condition. Great service. Really looked forward to seeing the follow up WW movie. Visually very impressive although the story wasn’t as entertaining as the first. All in all an okay film. However if, like me, you’re a comic book superhero movie franchise fan, then it’s still worth adding to your collection.

I waited for this DVD for a while and to be truthful I think it is a fair film but I think it is weak as a prequel, would I recommend it?? To younger viewers up to teens yes but don’t buy it wait for it to come out on Sky etc.

I was very pleased with this recent installment to the DC collection. I’ve always been a huge Superman fan (or Super-fan) and when I heard about the movies expanding to other big hitters from the DC universe, I was hooked. Aquaman, Batman vs. Superman, Wonder Woman and now another WW installment. Very exciting.

The movie has a super nostalgic 80s vibe in various scenes where the acting was a little wooden from minor characters which I loved. It really grasped the concept of the John Hughes era of movies. but still had the hardcore, explosive action of the current blockbuster era.

    Very happy.

I do not know what it is with theDC movies but they never quite reach the level in entertainment that the Marvel universe has achieved ,that saying this movie is not all that bad and Gal Godot is still amazing and the end surprise if you wait until some of the end credits role is one nostalgic surprise.
Worth seeing, sometimes a little confusing, not the best but hope Gal goes on to give us more better quality Wonder women magic,
Just one other point, was Wonder women ever able to fly like Superman in the comics?

I was quite stunned after reading the reviews on here, which had me worried that it was going to be very preachy on some level. I quite enjoyed the movie quite a lot actually, especially Gal’s acting was even more enjoyable than her last Wonder Woman role. Not only is she still an incredibly sensual and provocative being, she just seems to slip into the role as though the character was a part of her now.

Just seeing a lot of the props from the eighties had me giggle and smile at points during the movie.

The biggest let down for me was the character which was her archnemesis and I just felt as though the acting was flat and somewhat uninspiring. Good movie in general.

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersSo, I do get the reason why this 2nd solo WW film is lighter in general story presentation than the 1st.
Considering DC were putting out some darker, more adult storylines and productions, it has now rethought its target audience to include a younger set.

That said, this particular production is more colourful, brighter, uplifting and an easier going action drama storyline that is more aimed at a family oriented/TV series type audience.

As a continuation of the story from the first film, this doesn’t do too badly at all. There are a few “lame” moments of visual awkwardness as well as dialogue irrelevance and sloppiness; ie, padding the script whilst lengthening the buildup before getting into the story proper. But all in all, this is a great film.

The scenes of the early days of young Diana are often the best part of our hero’s story. Giving us a moral underpinning for the modern day section. It is also a fabulous buzz to see all the original characters from The Amazon’s secret island and female culture back in full swing – literally.

Furthermore, the wirework done for WW leaping around a genuine 80s Mall, foiling an antiquities heist, is blindingly good and complex. However, the added spfx to smooth out bumps and rough camera tracking, removes the “live presence” of the action altogether. It looks more like a green screen studio event with a Mall background added to the sequence.
The inclusion of cutsy kids enjoying the specticale of a superhero in action, as well as the rather daft 80’s TV stunt acting style employed here, takes a lot of heat out of the seriousness of the dramatic inciting incident. It appears that more attention was put into the unseen details of the Mall itself than to the importance of this scene as a vital driver to set the main thrust of the story into play. From this point on the story lingers and stays very low key for far too long.

Arguably it isn’t as strong a story as the original, but holds its own on certain fronts. The end result, however, is more reminiscent of a mish-mash from the original Supergirl movie (with some clear nods to the basic premise and flying sequences), the 2nd Christopher Reeves Superman movie and some X-Men mindpower/technological ideas.

The strength of the movie lay in its moral imperative. That the capacity of humanity, the human heart, the willingness to do better for the greater good, that of selfless acts and love of family are more important than material wealth and gain. Particularly at the expense of other’s needs, our own physical/mental/emotional health, and to life itself.

WW brings up some rather deep undercurrent perseptives and surprises: One’s wishing power comes with a health warning. If you’ve ever read “The Secret” you’ll know what power I mean. So be careful of what you wish for!!
Our true strength lies within, not with external appearances and a perceived power over others.
This fact is borne out with some of the action sequences that hold a much more subtle “life lesson” than the excitement of the actual choreography of the fight, or an over simplistic good V bad/right V wrong argument.

This is a feel good story with some fairly obvious pointers to a few unsavoury characters in real life.
WW ’84 clearly harks back to the original TV series of the 70s. And just to add to that claim, it has a fabulous post credit tag-on section that we older kids, in our 40s up to our 70s will, in no doubt, appreciate.

Enjoy the film for what it is rather than disregard it for what it isn’t.

Before covid raised its ugly head I thought I would be seeing this in the cinemas to make up for not seeing the first there. But the dvd is better than nothing. And I glad I did Patty J once again delivers the goods with a film that is ,in my mind, equal to the first.
To start Themyscira is once again visited with Robin Wright stealing the scenes as Antiope. Fast forward to 1984 and we find Diana living alone but still doing heroic deeds as WW. One wish later and Steve Trevor returns giving us the Gadot/Pine chemistry we all love to see. One things for certain I shall never look at Poptarts in the quite same way again.
Wiig and Pascal play two excellent villians with a human side to them.
And once Max lord gets to grant everyones desires later in the film chaos unfolds with wars, economic downturns, riots and cows . And when Barbara becomes Cheetah then the trouble really starts.
    Enter the Golden Armour…
However there is one tiny thing wrong with it. The Capital Hill riots when everyone gets their wishes granted. Common Patty! Theres no way that can happen…..
All in all this will be a future classic and I cannot understand the one star reviews this film has got over the weeks since it came out. Maybe they watched a different movie.
Now for the Themyscira film with Antiope ,young Diana growing up and Kangas. Plus plenty of Themyscira scenery in all its rich colour .
    We want more Patty!

I really liked the film, which was by no means perfect, but thoughtful and different. Action freaks are likely to be disappointed, and it is easy to find messages a bit preachy at times, and find characters a bit over simlified. However, the characters worked if given a bit of a chance, allowing them to be a bit comic book, with clarity of purpose and message. Not all ‘art’ needs to be ‘great art’, and this brought a reasonable amount of fun, colour and humour to the table. Not as good as he original, but a fair follow-up, with a different feel, with a likeable direction of Wonder Woman’s character development, especially her sensiivity and sense of justice. Gal Gadot nailed her role, again! Also great to have a softy side for the evil villain, that just about worked for me, but may not have for other viewers.

I loved growing up in the 80’s, so much so I have to admit, I seek anything 80’s so I had to check this out despite the dreadful reviews.

WW84 is definitely a bit daft, but if it wasn’t, it wouldn’t represent 80’s movie culture at all. The first half of the movie really plays up to that feeling of danger but with your tongue firmly in your cheek which makes for some entertaining stuff. All the main characters really ham it up in this and are well fleshed out. Providing an interesting balance between ridiculous and touching, a true 80’s style counter point.

Yeah this is kinda of a feminist movie, catering more for the female audience, which is quite bold, considering the majority of WW fans have predominantly been male through the years. At points I feel Patty Jenkins forgot to include action but what we get is good, just not as good as the no mans land scene in the first movie. However, this film offers plenty of fun moments which makes it well worth a watch. Give it a try, just don’t expect a world hunkered down in gritty realism. That is not what the 80’s were about. Take it for what it is, a homage to films like the original Superman, any movie that featured a montage, random misplaced hilarity aka Gremlins, The Goonies etc and you might just hold a soft spot for this daring super hero movie that bucks the DC trend of a gritty, matted, twisted adult takes on comic book heroes.

4.0 out of 5 stars Suspend your disbelief. But that’s comic book hero’s for you

I pre ordered the DVD and watched the movie today as soon as it was delivered. Wasn’t sure how a new wonder woman would compare to the role played by Lynda Carter in the original film. I needn’t have worried because Gal Gadot played a great wonder woman role. A very enjoyable couple of hours was spent watching this movie and money well spent. I would have liked to have watched the 4k version, but after watching the dvd version, the extra cost for the 4k is not really worth it.

The only gripe that I have is the subtitle font is a bit blurry and a much better clearer font could have been used.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersIn the meandering DCEU, this is a fun diversion.
As colourful and bonkers as the decade in which it takes place, this is a light hearted and lightweight superhero film that is fun for all the family.

Feels very much like it belongs in the Christopher Reeves Superman universe. If you enjoyed that bright, campy vibe…then you’ll probably enjoy this. The closest is probably Superman III with its bizarre and comedic elements.

It’s very different to the first Wonder Woman film, though…so if you’re expecting something that takes itself at all seriously, this probably won’t be your bag.

Personally I think there’s room for all types of Superhero movies and this is great at what it does and is exactly what it wants to be.

So people say this is not as good as the first film. I can say don’t go by the first one as it is set in a different era to the first. It is not base around war time and that changes the film quite a bit. Do not worry thou as it is to me a stand alone film. You do not need to have seen the first but it helps in the case of Steve Trevor. This is the ninth instalment in the DC Extended Universe. The other films in the DC Extended Universe include Man Of Steel, Batman v Superman Dawn of Justice, Suicide Squad, Wonder Woman, Justice League, Aquaman, Shazam! and Birds Of Pray.
This film has two formidable foes in the form of the Cheetah and Maxwell Lord. If you want to know more then you will just have to watch the film.
