Bought this as needed pliers to change over gas meters . Large pliers work execelkent with space left even though they brass nuts are large . Could do with thicker grip but clip lock is a good feature
Bought as an upgrade to my standard heavy duty set.
These are good but the handles are quite thin and tapered.
Even in my medium sized hands they are quite tricky to grip.
Not sure if you have big hands or thick fingers how you would get on with them?
Could do with being thicker but I can always boost them with some cycle bar tape or a tennis racket grip.
Great level of adjustment.
Worked a treat so far.
One star off for the thin handles.
Only issue is the lock can be a bit annoying as they prevent you from sliding down the rachet but not up. The button function ratchet grips are better personally. However, after getting use to them they are great and well built. In fact they are better than the ones I bought from selco for 8 more. known as silverline which are terrible. See image for what I mean.
Got these as I needed to replace my toilet syphon. Worked OK. The locking mechanism was a bit weak but got the job done. OK for occasional day use, but nothing more I think.
I was initially unimpressed with these pliers as they weren’t as substancial as the ones I was replacing. There seems to be quite a lot of play in the hinge and the ratchet mechanism didn’t seem very robust. I have used them on a few jobs now and they’re actually pretty good. The fine teeth on the ratchet means you can set them very accurately and they stay locked in place. The jaws are also shaped in a way that lets you get a decent grip. The handles will flex slightly with excessive pressure. Not sure how long they will last, but they appear fine for general use.
These are both fine for occasional use, though I’m not sure a plumber would trust them for daily use. One of the grips is already showing signs of wear, and it appears the teeth will blunt and begin to wear before too long.
The size lock mechanism is so-so – on both this has worked fine for my uses but I’m not confident it’d last more regular abuse.
To be sure, for the price of these, and for my occasional use, I have little to complain about – these are of equivalent quality to other workpro tools I’ve used.
It does the job so won’t give it less than 4 starts. It does however feel less quality in the hand than it looks in photos. Most people would only need the bigger size really and for the price you could buy better quality.
Overall very good, 4 stars
Nice pair grips, used these quite a few times. Saved me in a pinch when I haven’t got my biggest spanners on me. (Naughty naughty I know)
Seem to be very strong, can have them on a wide setting and really squeeze with both hands and they won’t bend or break.
Ends are grippy, only very minor downside is that the ends are quite sharp, not an issue just a bit unpleasant when I’m rooting around my tool bag.
Good solid set, I use them as a multi skilled maintenance engineer onsite. The locking mechanism doesn’t always stay in place but for the price, it is still a good set for pipes, armoured cable glands and other bits.
Great tools.
Bought my first house in December 2020. I saved a load of money with these, all it takes is a bit of time watching videos online and ordering the right parts. Don’t forget to turn off the main water tap to your property, normally found under your kitchen sink. I got quoted 75 for replacing the float valve in the hot water storage tank and did it myself for 17. I also replaced the cold water inlet valve that feeds water to the washing machine for less than a fiver. Good luck .
Did their job. We had a cylinder of metal, not literally a pipe, but with a screw in one end so tight we couldn’t get it off. Was impossible to grip the cylinder with pliers/rubber etc. The pipe grippers worked perfectly
You may be expecting a plumbing or work based review but that is not why I bought these tools.
I have arthritis and have difficulty opening bottles, jars and the like. Child proofed items have been beyond my ability to grip and open until now, especially bleach and disinfectant bottles and the twist front of spray bottles. The grip and lock facility means that these can be continuously squeezed while I manoeuvre the handles against a wall or sturdy object to turn the lid. It sounds awkward when I describe it but they have made my life so much easier.
Love them.
