This is a gift so we have not watched it yet. We just really liked the first episode that was shown on TV, so anticipate that this will be good all the way through.

Yellowstone is an up to date journey on, the trials and conflicts of Kevin Costner as Yellowstone ranch tycoon- John Dutton, in what seems to have become Paramount TVs rival to HBO Game of Thrones.I
had my reservations about prequel spin off 1923, as we step back a century to the pioneers and earlier generation of Yellowstone Ranch. I was blown away – Panoramic, cinematic , historic what a grandly superb series. With veteran stalwarts Helen Mirren and Harrison Ford at the anchor , this excellent vibrantly visual masterpiece, merges three separate stories in to one and the Western Montana backdrop. best TV series for decades !! A DVD to keep forever.

Sheridan and the whole team; they have done it again! Each and every episode finds you in the depths of your ocean of emotions. I am not an American, but the way the history is portrayed takes me right into those times and places; it makes me feel part of it. Just beautiful and very very involving, engaging. THANKS! Can’t wait to see season 2…
The opening scene is unfortunately not on the level of 1883 and Yellowstone; it does not pull you inside the story!
DVD disks (all of them and each episode and every sequel) for some reason do not start playing smoothly; it takes a few minutes before anything starts.
To all the negative reviewers: you are certainly entitled to your opinions, but it seems to me that you are closing your eyes, hearts and minds from the reality of history of our existence. Things we do in the name of God, out of Lust, and countless other REASONS… Sheridan is there to remind us of our dark side…

The acting was without question the best. The photography and realism was out of this world. Actually, All of this served to sicken me when learning about how the native Americans were treated. I am ashamed of our ancestors. Unfortunagtely, these feelings and thoughts of the original inhabitants of our country remain in varying forms today.
This is a movie worth seeing multiple times.

Another gripping series with the Duttons beautifully filmed again in Montana and Africa. Cannot wait for next encounter 1923 season 2 also 1943 Yellowstone. Taylor Sheridan hit the jackpot co creator of the Yellowstone franchise acting at its best with Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren.Sorry to hear Kevin Costner may be leaving The Yellowstone Saga for new ventures a western “Horizon” now in production over several films.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our Users1883 is the best movie have ever seen, then have watched some of 1923, but haven’t gotten any farther, because am waiting for my glasses and can’t see the printing on control, so on hold for a while but haven’t heard anything but good about the whole movie, I know 1883 is a real tearjerker if haven’t seen it you must, just remember it is not for young eyes, lots of sex in it.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersAfter waiting so long for the dvd release, unfortunately I found it to just be ok, not Sheridan’s best like Yellowstone and 1883. I was happy to hear Isabel May voicing some of the story. However, I just couldn’t see Alexandria and Spencer together. She was too childish and talked too much. I couldn’t understand half of what she was saying using her British accent….undecipherable. And I absolutely could not understand how nor why two prostitutes appear in the story beating each other with a belt at the behest of the character Whitfield. It was unnecessary. A no fit.

Golden Review Award: 13 From Our UsersI received 1923 and immediately dug into the episodes. Initially I was pretty confused as to who was who, and where and who they came from. I did a bit of online sleuthing and turned up a genealogy of the characters, and things began to make sense. The series is well acted as Helen Mirren steals almost every scene in which she takes part. Harrison Ford is very good, as usual. Mirren and Ford are central characters in one of three main storylines. The other two main storylines follow Brandon Sklenar (Spencer Dutton), and Aminah Nieves as Teonna Rainwater. Jerome Flynn and Timothy Dalton are the bad guys. Character development is good in all the minor storylines, so when you complete the eight episodes, the viewer will have a pretty good handle on the weaknesses and strongpoints of all the characters. As a bonus, each episode has narration provided by Isabel May, who starred in 1883. Each episode has a behind the story bonus. And, of course, there are about two hours of special features for the viewer upon completion of the series.

As a reviewer, I understand the cliffhanger vehicle, get them wondering how the protagonists will escape the jam they’re in at the end of an episode, and remedied in the next. Taylor Sheridan does a great job with the script and conjoined synthesis of the storylines, but I’ll say I’m all but exhausted at the end of an episode. The cliffhangers are relentless. For some reason I was reminded of the old Buster Crabbe Flash Gordon series. Whereas cliffhanger endings usually only affected Crabbe, in 1923, all three main storylines, as well as the minor storylines have the same hold your breath til the next episode ending. Too much of a good thing? I’ll leave that up to prospective viewers of 1923, a Taylor Sheridan creation, that I would recommend.

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersI pre-ordered this early and it arrived just before my birthday as hoped. It is better than the main series ‘Yellowstone’ because that is based on a format similar to ‘Dallas-meets-Dynasty’ and moves sluggishly at their sort of never ending pace too. This prequel to ‘Yellowstone’ is much more dynamic because it relates to a more defined – and exciting – time that makes everything more enthralling. I must state that Helen Mirren plays an absolute blinder in her role too. It’s worth it just for her acting prowess alone. Yeah, it’s extremely good viewing.
