A lot easier that scrunching up balls of newspaper. I was sceptical they would work, but one of these and a few bits of kindling and you are away. None of the smell of the chemical-based kind
I purchased these as an alternative to a supermarket brand of conventional firelighters. ( Used to use a newspaper and kindling but buy the Times on line now)
I used the same number(2) to light a large wood stove. Perfect results except no smelly paraffin all over my hands and in cupboard.
The conventional lighters tend to dry out over the summer as the paraffin evaporates. These natural wood lighters should improve as they get dryer.
I have a multifuel stove and just need to place a couple of these under a few pieces of kindling, lay a couple of logs over that and then add a few pieces of coal – once the firestarter is lit it keeps going for a good few minutes and gets the fire up and running. Have tried others and individual firestarter sizes can vary, so you have to put more on whereas these are a consistent size.
Bought these on a recommendation and they haven’t disappointed. You only need a couple to get your fire roaring, just pop them under a little bit of kindling and away you go.
We’ve been using for the fire pit and the log burner and it’s been effortless.
I’ve used other brands in the past and needed at least 2 or 3 to get the fire going. With this I only need one which makes it so much cheaper! Fast delivery too.
The usual brand I use on the left of the photo are tiny compared to these.
