I previously had a 4x USB hub on my DAW desktop and I am finding that to be too limiting now. So now i’ve got this 7x port. At the moment, I keep the PC keyboard, mouse & music keyboard permanently attached and a desktop colour changing spaceman! I’ve still got ports free for a couple of USB sticks. So far, all has been working fine; the mouse & keyboard are back-lit for ease of use in a darkened studio and there’s no problems there even though this hub is non-powered.
I’ve got this hub connected through a USB 3 extension cable and works perfectly fine. My DAW PC is in a rack case, mounted in a rack frame. Accessing the rear USB sockets is a pain, so bringing them to the desktop is convenient and time saving, well worth doing.
As much as I like this hub, I think the price is a tad much and should be a little bit cheaper.
This hub has 7 USB-A slots and 1 USB-C slot at the top so it’s more than most hubs offer. I personally use more type A ports so this is very useful to connect to my Surface tablet which only has 1.
The cord is also 1m long so you can easily connect it to the PC if it’s not on top of your desk and still have the hub reach the top of the desk.
There is a little LED bar that lights up blue to show that it’s plugged in and working.
So far it’s been running smoothly and I haven’t had any devices disconnect.
The PHIXERO 7 Port USB Hub proves to be an indispensable tool for individuals seeking efficient connectivity solutions. This hub’s standout feature is its thoughtful design, which includes seven USB ports, ensuring that you never run out of connections for your devices. The inclusion of a 3.3FT extendable cable enhances flexibility, allowing for easy placement on your desk or workstation. The integration of a USB-C power port is a game-changer, enabling simultaneous charging and data transfer, simplifying your setup further. The hub’s compatibility with various USB versions (3.0/2.0/1.1) ensures seamless connectivity with a wide range of devices. During our tests, data transfer speeds remained consistently high, reflecting the hub’s adherence to USB 3.0 standards. Its sturdy build quality instills confidence in its durability. For those looking to expand their connectivity options without compromising on speed and efficiency, the PHIXERO 7 Port USB Hub is a reliable and practical choice, making multitasking a breeze and simplifying your digital life.
Needed a bigger usb hub for my desk and wanted a longer cable, so I came across this.
Super speed USB 3.0 connectivity, simply plug and use. Highly recommended for those who use a lot of usb devices.
This is a great wee hub for connecting USB devices into my Macbook. It is extremely lightweight, so much so that it almost makes it feel a bit cheap, but it definitely does the trick.
I’ll admit that I’ve also been using it to charge devices (which now re-reading the description I realise is against instruction, whoops!) and it does seem to struggle a bit with more than three slots charging. I have had one slot turn off when they were all in use (4 to charge). The product description advises not to do this as charging will be slow, however I hadn’t it noticed it being any slower than usual with three or fewer devices.
A very useful gadget, making life with a mac that little bit easier!
This hub is obviously great, it has a large number of USB slots, and a reasonably long cable. I’ve managed to use it for quite a lot of devices so far without any issues, including mouse, keyboard, webcam, microphone, speakers and more.
It feels reasonably well made, although its only plastic it feels quite sturdy, and is pretty compact and will be easy to hide away if you don’t like the look.
The only thing that’s worth pointing out, is that this hub has the option to be powered, as it has a usb c port. I can’t comment on how well this feature works, as they didn’t include a usb c cable, and I don’t use anything that requires much power at all (Like an external hard-drive).
Light and easy to carry,
Works as expected and speeds as advertised.
Not really powerful enough for charging devices, but works great as a hub for my laptop external drives.
Only small gripe is it doesn’t come with a mains lead or power adapter so this adds to the overall price if you want to use all 7 ports.
This is a great little hub for low power devices, i have a mouse keyboard and 2 usb sticks on a single usb3 port on my laptop and it handles it all fine. this is a must for anyone on the go and needs more usb ports than your laptop has. i have not used it powered but its a great option if you need to use a large hard drive.
highly recommended
Using a laptop is very handy but the big drawback is lack of USB ports. This 7 port extension gives you an extra 7 ports to use (well, 6 ports and 1 that takes a port away from your PC/Laptop) plus a further USB C input to provide extra power to the USB ports.
As a streamer, I have numerous items plugged in and am having to switch things about however this port extender has solved that for me, and I currently have my mouse, keyboard, webcam, RGB lighting and RGB mousepad plugged in with 2 ports spare.
One thing to note is that this will struggle to charge your phone (it will charge it, but very slowly indeed, due to the max output across all the ports)
Overall, an excellent port extender.
I ordered this to plug into a desktop PC. Although my PC has plenty of USB ports on the rear, I use these for “permanent” connections e.g. mouse, keyboard, printer, scanner. I only have 2 on the front. Consequently I used an extension cable to make a rear port more accessible. This worked fine apart from with an external HDD used for backups.
I chose the PHIXERO hub because of the 1.3 metre cable and the number of USB sockets. Having the type C power through was a bonus.
When connected a blue light come on.
I plugged in a selection of memory sticks, adaptor mounted SD cards and the HDD.
All registered instantly including, very importantly, the previously non-responsive HDD.
I then set off transfers between devices and everything worked fine and at an acceptable speed.
The plastic construction is a little cheap looking but for solving my problem, I am happy to award 5 stars.
I hope you found this review useful.
If you have a question, I always try to respond when Amazon forwards them to me.
PHIXERO 7 Port USB Hub
Compact USB-A expansion hub that provides 7 additional USB-A ports.
Hub has a long 1m plastic wired lead, but is lightweight (70g) and compact (14*381.5cm). Supports USB 3.0. Hub does have an optional USB-C port for additional power – useful if you are plugging in devices which require more power (hard drives etc.).
Overall – simple hub, with long 1m lead for flexibility 4 stars.
his is excellent but ONLY when powered, currently I have 6 x 4tb hard drives connected without any issues.
Originally I used a USB extender with 4 ports, but you always need more so I tired this with 7 ports. I have a very large collection of DVDs which take up so much room that I have ripped them all to hard drives for ease. Plugged this into a usb 3.1 socket on my desktop and started to plug in my external hard drives. the fourth one (only 500gb) started beeping – which is an indication is not getting enough power to drive it (not a problem with my 4 port one) so adding more hard drives would have been futile.
I plugged in an old laptop C-USB power supply and its a different device, allowing me to plug in multiple hard drives. Without power it would be ok for low load devices but without the extra power you will have issues.
No C type cable is supplied despite it suggestion in the photo and wording one might be. The longer lead is useful and it offers high data transfer speeds
It is a lightweight plastic device (metal would be nice but obviously more expensive) with an unusually long (1M) cable. Plugged it into my Windows laptop and I can use the seven USB A (3.0) ports for peripherals.
As it comes with a USB C input for charging devices I was confused by the instructions that say this device is not for charging. I think they mean if you have it plugged into your PC/laptop using the USB A cable it will only charge slowly. (As USB A will only deliver a maximum of 12 Watts ish).
So, I plugged a “rapid” phone charger into the USB C port and was able to charge my phone rapidly plugged into one of the USB A ports. (It’s an old phone so I think what it reports as rapid is not what we think of as rapid now with USB C charging). Curious I plugged another device in and it charged that at the same time. Obviously how well it will do this is down to the charger itself, and I’m not sure if charging seven things will overload this – I don’t know if it is supposed to be used this way but they have provided the USB C port specifically for charging devices.
Useful device, especially having the long cable which is a unusual on these things.
I ordered this because I found that my ports on my computer where simply just full, all the time, so I needed extra room to put in things like my eternal hard drive and some other things, it is pretty small, but comes with 7 usb slots and fits perfectly on a desk without taking up too much room.
I got this as an upgrade to a USB hub which has 4 ports. I seem to have a lot things in my office now that require a USB socket, & had outgrown my old one.
This hub is brilliant for the fact it has 7 ports, and also a 1 metre lead. This is longer than my previous hub & makes it much easier to access the hub underneath my desk. There is also a blue indicator light to show that the hub is on.
I do find that it’s more difficult to plug my USBs into this port – the ports aren’t as well made & it takes more wiggling to get the plugs in & out. There tends to be a bit of grinding/scratching as well when plugging/unplugging. However, once everything is connected it works perfectly & for me is an ideal upgrade.
Bear in mind that this hub isn’t intended for charging. It will do so, but only very slowly.
Loads of USB hubs around, which when you get them have thin leads, wobbly ports and lousy cases, but this isn’t one of them. Very pleased to see a good, solid cable and everything fitting together properly! It’s a nice, lightweight unit which does what it’s supposed to do without any fuss! NOTE that if you want to use/charge something which needs some juice, you’ll need to plug in a USB-C power cable in next to the main data cable. For me that’s not a big deal as I just needed more ports for PC peripherals, and I’ve got it in place and working with no problems or mysteries. It’s small enough to tuck out of the way, there’s enough spacing between ports to add/remove devices without disturbing other cables (which seems to be an issue for me with other hubs, but maybe I have fat/clumsy fingers!). I think it’s pretty good value myself, and the build quality is above what I expected.
I’m delighted with this USB hub. My laptop only has two USB ports and I am often looking to have more than two devices plugged in at the same time, so this hub is a godsend, as it allows me to have 7 USB ports for the use of only one on my laptop.
The hub also seems well made and is relatively small too, so I’d definitely recommend at the current price of around 30.
This port hub is really lightweight and portable so it is good for traveling. The cable is quite short but enough to connect to the laptop. It is fast speed and Al seven ports work properly. Not good for charging though like mentioned in the advertisement. Overall it is good for the people who need several usb ports for working.
I have to say that this usb extender works as advertised. All seven ports are working, however I have noticed that the USBs plugged in to them do not fit flushly and can be a bit loose. Other than that, the hub is great and does what it is supposed to do.
A slim and robust USB hub that provides a great deal of fast USB expansion in a compact form factor.
The hub itself is slim and very well built, which makes it ideal for carrying alongside a laptop for work or study. It fits neatly inside even the smallest of laptop bags, and comes in very handy when you need to connect multiple devices quickly and efficiently. Nothing much to criticise.
This is a slimline 7-port USB 3.0 hub. It is quite light and features an LED once connected to an active port. This device is intended for data transmission only, which is logical given that it should be plugged into a computer port. It is definitely not for connecting to a larger power supply to act as a shared charger. The shared output is 900 mA when operating solely through a computer USB-A port, which is tiny if you have all 7 ports occupied, which is unlikely. The lead is quite short to minimise power loss in the cable, but if you have it plugged directly into your laptop, a short lead shouldn’t be too much of a problem. A desktop computer might be a problem, though.
There is a USB-C power port to power this device from an external power supply when plugged into a computer, although at 15 watts maximum, this is still not enough for 7 ports. Strangely, other reviews mention that there is a USB-C cable included, but there was not one with mine, nor is it shown as included in the product specification. It is very plastic, and for the price, I would perhaps have expected an aluminium casing.
If your laptop is a legacy version or slimline with only a few ports, this greatly expands your existing capabilities and is compatible with keyboards, mice, trackpads, keyboard extensions, and the list goes on. The device is plug-and-play, so no drivers are required.
I think a hub is something everyone should have, especially desktop users as having extra ports is always very handy, protecting the main ports from wear and tear is even more important. With that said, if you’re going for a lot of ports do make sure you have enough power on your supply as even though most things that usb draw low power, if you’re already at its limit it could cause an issue. That said, it’s far less relevant these days unless you’ve got the cheapest of the cheap PSU.
This is an amazing hub, you get 7 ports which is loads! You should be set for most things and it’s backwards compatible and decent quality. At 21.99 (currently 19.99) it’s priced reasonably.
The only gripe I have is the cable being so short.
Rather than for use with a laptop I actually got this for a desktop PC as sometimes I have to swap out things like card readers and messing around under the desk where it is placed is a pain. In this scenario the lead is a little short but I do have a USB extension cable so not a problem. I now have the 7 ports easily accessible on my actual desk – which is great. All the devices I have swapped out from the ports at the back of the PC work fine. There is a blue LED that lights to show that the device is operational. It’s an okay price there are similar devices that are cheaper but also ones that are more expensive. It’s quite lightweight so if you want it for a laptop then it’s easily stashed and carried in a laptop bag. At the end of the day it works for me.
perice at time of review 21.99
paired with some good usb c power this is a perfect hub, speeds are great, though it is only a hub so there will be some speed loss if using multiple devices at once, and for simple charging it passes through the power from the usb c and devides it all up really well.
This USB hub is great if you’ve got to connect loads of devices to your PC and you aren’t worried about cutting edge speeds. It’s handy for docking a laptop to mouse / keyboard / printer / webcam / headset etc. The only downside is the cost – it is currently (at 22) about twice the price of similar unbranded hubs (and depending on what you’re using it for you might need to add in a separate power adapter. If it ends up on offer at a more reasonable price then it’s worth considering.
I am not an expert in computer gadgets but do know some useful bits and bobs. First of all this port expander is great because has 7 connections instead of the regular 4-5. Let’s be honest, with all the wireless keyboards and mouses, BT headsets, phone chargers, speakers, and cameras, we don’t get enough USB ports in our laptops so the extender is almost a must.
This is a USB 3.0 extender so modern and fast and should be compatible with the latest devices.
The only comment I have is that I wish that the cable had 90-degree connector so it is a bit more compact when connecting to the laptop.
Now that most electrical items now seem to need charging off a USB rather than plug socket, this has caused some inconvenience for me having to continually swap items around. This solves the problem – it’s very small, barely bigger than the seven sockets so sits discreetly on the side of my desk. Rather perfect solution to the problem, thank you
Edited review, as the price point has changed:
USB 3.0 is no longer King of the Hill, USB 4 using the USB C profile is a thing, as is USB 3.2 using the A form.
But 5Gbps is still a useful theoretical transfer speed. Seven ports is a good number, and the connection lead is usefully long.
It’s good that I can power this hub, there’s an input that can use a 15W adaptor, but this isn’t included.
Searching on Amazon for a powered seven-port USB 3.0 hub shows there are many choices; some have switched ports and come with a power adaptor.
However, at this revised price point of 19.99 at the time of this edited review, this seven-port hub represents good value, even considering that should I wish to power this, I would have to source my own USB C lead and have a suitable socket/adaptor available.
This is a 7-port expander that transfers data. I used two different memory sticks to transfer photos, documents and a video with no issues at all. This can be used to transfer data with no issues but if you are hoping to change it will only charge slowly.
This is a good size to take to and from work ideal for me to do coursework with. All in all a good piece of kit, nothing remarkable but I have had no issues with it and have used it a couple of times. Happy to recommend it.
At 26.99 this isn’t cheap. I’m not sure why so expensive, perhaps having 7 ports is unusual. It has quite a plastic feel to it, but still feels sturdy. The ports feel strong and well set and have a satisfying click when inputting the cables. It’s very useful. Many things these days are USB and never enough ports on whatever you’re using. My son is using this plugged into his gaming desk so that he can power his umpteen controller chargers, lights, and whatnnots off it, without having cables hanging around everywhere. Tidies the desk up for sure. Working a treat so far.
A compact 7 port USB hub that does exactly as advertised. With 7 USB 3.0 ports this extender has been great for my office laptop that only has two USB A ports and meant I was frequently having to swap items around.
The hub is made entirely of plastic with a short lead. The ports are spaced far apart enough that I have had no issues with ports being blocked or covered. The USB A plug fits securely into my laptop and the ports in the hub securely receive USB A plugs (they are not too hard to plug in or too easy to remove).
There is a small blue led indicator light to show the hub has power when plugged in and has a USB C plug to add power to the hub if needed.
At 27 this is comparable to other 7 port hubs on the market. Some others are available at a cheaper price with individual power switches and others are much more and come with individual power switches for each port and an external power supply. Given the compact size and how readily USB C power supplies are becoming I like that this unit does not require a more specialist power supply. Would recommend.
This works well, simply connect to your laptop, PC or other device, and you have an additional seven USB ports. The hub is compact and slender, and takes little space. It is also surprisingly lightweight, almost worryingly light, there seems to be nothing to it compared to the other hubs I’ve used, I’m trusting this is progress.
This is based around USB A slots which is fine if that matches your equipment. Most newer stuff has moved over to USB C. It is USB 3.0 so that limits data transfer speeds. It is still 10 times faster than USB 2 and of course it is backwards compatible. You can add power to it for HDD etc but you have to supply your own power input.
In use it’s ok. It is plastic but seems robust and all the slots line up and connect well. It is far from cutting edge but the price reflects that. Although for about the same cost you can find similar but with individual switched sockets.
