Really can’t go wrong for the price and the quality is excellent. Some great accessories which don’t come as standard with a go pro and all at a fraction of the price. What’s not to like.
Purchased this camera before we head on our cruise and looking forward to trying it out snorkelling as well as capturing family moments! Loved the accessories included, superb value for money.
I bought this just in case I needed a recording of any incidents that may arise and after reading reviews, I plumped for this model, and so far so good at the fraction of the price of a GoPro.
ot used in anger as yet, but pleased with the price and plenty of extras included. After reading reviews from different sources this looked just what I wanted. Didn’t want to pay too much so this was good. Just need to see it in action.
HD quality, records well in low light and image stabilization which is certainly necessary if using as a cycle handlebar mounted cam.
Battery life is about 2 hours but with 2 batteries, that does most of my commutes for the week.
Can’t really fault it for the money.
Got this action camera. Not had chance to use it properly yet but have trued it out and seems to be easy to use. Easy touch screen and instructions on the screen.
I haven’t used the camera yet, but my experience to date has been excellent. I ordered the camera based on reviews posted on Amazon and I can confirm that it is a well made item, with all the accessories you need to use it in different environments. I will update this review once I have used the camera.
Bought this to capture video and photos whilst Scuba diving. Really pleased with the image quality and the waterproof case didn’t leak at all. Came with a lot of accessories and a spare battery can’t fault it for the price of it.
I used this for scuba diving in Jan 24. It worked great and I had no issues with the camera or the underwater case down to 30m. Easy to transfer files to my iPhone using wifi and the Akaso app. The photos and videos are good quality (taken using underwater mode) – colours are still washed out but that is an issue with all underwater photos unless you spend significant money on camera and lighting kit. And there is no zoom so you need to swim up close to anything you want to take a picture of. Essentially this is not for serious/high-level underwater photography, but as someone who dives very rarely and just wanted a few nice holiday pics without spending hundreds on expensive kit which I may never use again, this worked absolutely perfectly and was easy to use. Great budget option.
The problem is the waterproof case supplied is clearly not impact proof so I would recommend a separate lens guard for added protection.
I did contact Amazon for a replacement case and they offered a full refund as I was within the 30 days. Considering returning for a replacement.
Nice camera, loads of adjustments should suit most needs, battery lasts an hour and a half plus on 1080 at 60fps with image stabilization. Use it daily on my comute to work into London and for fun.
Very good camera for the price can use it for a range of activities. Mainly use it for recording football matches but due to the sheer amount of accessories, you can be very creative with how you recordd. Quality is great and sound also.
The clarity of the pics is a pleasant surprise. Fits well on cycle helmet; nice and tight. Remote on wrist is a big plus. Bought as a gift. Overall, very pleased with product and would highly recommend
I bought it for an Europe trip and so far so good. The stabiliser is pretty good for my surprise, that was one of my concerns so I can say much better that I thought.
Item arrived very quickly and as was as pictured! All of the items were included and in perfect condition. Super easy to set up and use. Quality of the camera is amazing!
This was a last minute purchase to use on a snorkelling/microlight weekend, didn’t expect much for the price but I was pleasantly impressed with the quality, I assumed there would be no audio with the waterproof case fitted but I was wrong, it was slightly muffled but nothing like expected, no need for overdubbed sfx in the water, great product.
You are not paying for a GoPro but my initial impression is the AKASO EK7000 Pro does the job. If you are going out for the day, you will need a second battery.
For the price, can’t fault this bit of kit. Loads of brilliant fixings, picture quality is good. But as it says sound is not recorded if the case is on, but if that’s not a huge issue its worth the money.
I purchased the EK7000 pro. Excellent value. The underwater case provided great results when swimming in the sea. Still photos taken at the beach were of fine quality. Overall very impressed.
Lots of accessories, all included in the price and 2 batteries also.
Also works well as a webcam when connect to the PC, and nice quality too.
Struggle to see why you would need a higher priced camera given how great this is!
I use it for go karting, clear and good quality.
Used a 128gb memory card and it works.
Once you download it and watch it on your phone, you can see why it’s worth the money.
Need a solution for the wind noise but I’ll figure that out.
Looks to be a good around camera, I will know more once it has been put through the complete range of holiday activities.
So far it looks to be nice and light and compact. Nice to also get an assortment of accessories in the box and the inclusion of the waterproof case is a real benefit. After just a small amount of testing at home it looks to have adequate image stabilisation and links well with my phone. I will update the review once it has completed the full range of holiday activities but from what I can see out of the box it looks to be good value for your money.
Its a good camera for the money, don’t compare with GOPRO or you be disapointed. Its a camera for fun and adventure, its not alot of money to replace if you drop it, break it or lose it. Its a fun easy to camera.
Comprehensive pack of accessories and appears to be well made. Having now used the camera I am satisfied with the quality of it. However disappointed that the remote control does not work. Contacted AKASO and they suggested (twice) that I change the battery in the remote. This would require the use of a jewellers screwdriver to remove 8 screws and moving printed circuit board and I am not prepared to do this on a new item. Very disappointed with AKASO response. Will return everything to Amazon for are refund.
Further edit to original post – purchased another AKASO EK7000 Pro and am happy with it so far.
I have fully tested the waterproof case with absolutely no leaks, but an as-expected microphone sensitivity reduction whilst recording video in the case.
Photos and videos are of fantastic quality with a very good image-stability (anti shake) system pre-built into the camera. However I noticed the camera can struggle in low-light situations and playback video quality can become a little pixelated.
Battery length is very good, with a charging dock included and a total of 2 batteries in the box, there is also the option to buy more spare batteries on Amazon if necessary.
SD compatibility is Micro-SD with no need to format it by using the camera, and the amount of remaining photos/video length clearly shown before and after use.
Overall a fantastic value for money action camera!
My only issue: You have to ensure the correct date and time is re-set in the camera when the battery is changed as there is no internal backup circuit battery for holding this information. This can be resolved by ensuring the camera remains powered on and connected to a micro-usb power source whilst swapping the batteries, but this unfortunately will be difficult if you don’t have a powerbank on hand when your swapping batteries outside and away from home.
Despite this, I still strongly recommend this camera to other potential buyers!
On first opening and trying things out, I am impressed with the easy we’ll designed controls. Much easier to guess where different settings are without even opening the manual!
The manual, is actually just a ‘quick start’ guide but a much more comprehensive pdf manual was available to download. I did this, but as always I edited out over 100 pages of foreign languages cutting it down to just 24 pages.
I contacted the email support (fast response) to ask about the internal clock, it needs resetting after swopping the battery. A bit of an inconvenience, but if powered by USB (power bank) whilst changing it, it isn’t lost. Maybe a minor point to some, but as I shoot with other cameras, the time stamp on each clip saves me a lot of time when sorting in my editing software.
I would have preferred a 1080 x 50fps, but only 30 or 60fps choices. My other cameras do 50fps, which is my preference. So we’ll see how conversion/renders affect the end results. So 60fps to start with.
Initial quality at FHD 60fps looks pretty good.
I’ll edit this review and give more details at a later date when I have more experience to judge upon.
The file size was huge – 29GB in ~7 separate 4GB MOV files so you’ll need to do some post-processing in a video editor to stitch them all together. I also found that speeding up the video by x8 was more interesting than normal speed – turns out watching me ride around for a couple of hours at 10mph isn’t that exciting. I got the whole ride, sped up x8 down to 1.5GB @ 720p MP4 and 9GB @1080p.
On another ride I recorded at 1080p/60 but looking back 1080p/30 is probably ok, especially as i’m speeding the videos up by x4. Using various commands in ffmpeg the end file was 5GB. Car registration plates are readable.
A few things:
– The pole mount for handlebars is too small for my 31.8mm dropbars, i’ll probably to get an out front mount.
– There doesn’t appear to be a way to turn off the flashing red recording light
– Mine came with x2 thin metal cables, about 15cm long with loops at each end – no idea what they are for. I’m assuming they are to tether the camera to something in case it comes loose. The waterproof case has no way to attach these cables.
– The manual says upto 32GB SD Card – i’m using a 256GB SanDisk card and it works fine.
– I haven’t bothered with the WiFi or App – just offload the files on to a laptop for further processing
Why only 4 stars? I’ve had it a month and only used it twice. Giving myself wriggle room for the cameras longevity.
Edit: after uploading to this review the short video clip (1080p/60), it’s apparent Amazon does some additional compression so the video doesn’t represent the actual quaity off the camera
