Works most of the tine, seems to have loose wiring to some degree as i had to slap the side of it to get voltage to both the switch and motor/ make it work, otherwise pretty good for 7.2v edit its the direction switch its just more finicy/fussy/gummy than it needs to be.

This is a small and light drill/driver. Takes on most household jobs with ease. Flat pack furniture is no problem, piloting wood and screwing a doddle. Plenty of charge for an afternoons work.
This is my second one, the first lasted over 10yrs. It wasn’t the drill that packed in but the charger, that has been changed on the current model so I couldn’t get a replacement.
This is the ONLY 7.2 volt drill on the market, and that is such a sweet spot in terms of power vrs weight.
    A cracking piece of kit!!

Used this to put up a blind in the bedroom, worked great drilling into the wall! Had to buy the drill bits separately which was irritating but can’t fault how it works. I’m a newbie to DIY and was pleased at how easy it was to use

This was bought as a present for my daughter but it didn’t have the capacity to drill walls so it has been returned. In my opinion it is a nice lightweight drill in a good carry case. I can’t comment on anything else such as battery life

I use this for most jobs at my work doing maintenance electrical for a university sharing it with colleagues daily and they leave the larger more powerful combi drills gathering dust.

This is my Best Buy. I wouldn’t say it’s cheap, I would say it’s value for money because that’s exactly what it is and I love it as I bought by the price. It’s lightweight and easy to use. It’s made this woman’s jobs much easier. I use it nearly once a week doing all my gardening jobs. So happy with it that when it runs out of power just charge it up again!

This is brilliant. I’m 77 and my fingers aren’t strong. This drill charger is as small as a phone charger. It holds its charge well and drills wood with no probs.. Comes with a screwdriver bit which seems to work with a variable size of screw. Reverses to undo screws. Very lightweight. FANTASTIC!

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI’ve only had this a couple of days but it’s done what I wanted. I’m making a model train layout and some of this is being done in the kitchen when it’s wet or too dark outside. I wanted something strong enough to drill through 2″ wood and which won’t make loads of noise. It was smaller and lighter than I expected – much smaller than my previous 7.2v Black & Decker drill and just a bit bigger than my Bosch electric screwdriver – but has so far done the job just as well. It says that the speed can be adjusted by how far you press the button down but I found very little difference between it being “just pressed” and “fully pressed.” It acts as a screwdriver (and has a flat/crosshead attachement included) but is strong enouugh to get through the wood and plywood I am using. I’ve not tried it on hardwood, so can’t comment on this. It’s USB charged and I only needed to charge it for about an hour when I took it out of the box to get it fully charged, and I used it on and off for a couple of hours before charging it ready for the next day. I used it, again on and off, for about 4 hours today and it has lasted without a problem. I am pleased with it so far, especially as it didn’t cost a fortune.

Small size is good for confined spaces, useful addition to the other heavier drills in my kit. well worth the money and you will find many situations where it is handy.

I just spruced up my whole kitchen and this drill proved extremely useful. The battery lasted a long time. It’s easy to use and not heavy at all. It was perfect for taking cabinet doors off, changing 40 hinges and 20 handles and putting doors back. I only had to charge it twice. It missed out on 5 stars purely becase it’s not one of the most powerful models.
Really good product, but I was expecting it from this brand.

First drill I’ve owned and though not powerful it’s a great tool. No problem at all with plasterboard walls etc.. though it struggled on brick. But it very handy and easy to use. Definitely be buying the same type as a more powerful one as well. Excellent addition to your tool kit.

On receipt I was surprised how much smaller it was compared to my old B & D drill but despite the lowering of power from 18v to 12v, the drill was impressive and the lightweight nature of it very handy. Look forward to some bigger projects with it. The battery charged up over a shorter period than 8hrs.

I love this. Its small easy to use and charge. Its more of an electronic screwdriver rather than a drill so if you’re expecting something super powerful don’t go for it. It works well drilling into wood, plaster ect. So great for DIY.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersBeen looking for one and got this one instead. I have used it almost every day as been assembling Ikea cabinets, dressing table and lots more. This is really handy partnered with Black and Decker 120pc set. This drill can do light drills on wood, plasterboards but definitely struggles with bricks, I used electrick drills for the job.

Perfect for furniture assembly, lightweight and battery lasted for days of fixing bits and bobs. It drills nicely into wood, plastics but not walls (no drill).
Looked into cheaper brands, but for the price difference, decided to buy into B&D known quality and don’t regret it. There’s no box, so if one is needed better to try and find the box set.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersIts light and portable, worked for about 3 hours with one battery charge although the lack of variable speed meant that I managed to strip a few screws when I used it as a screwdriver. Would recommend either getting a full blown electric screwdriver, or initially loosening using a hand screwdriver.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersDoes the job, solid drill for odd jobs around the house and diy projects, charges quickly, nice amount of torqure when drilling and screwing. Used to make a garden gate and fence from scratch over 3 days of use had no isses easy to use. Very affordable and would buy again and would recommend to family and friends

Laughing lots at some of the “reviews” from people moaning about the drill being useless for heavy duty work. What on earth did you expect, people? The description more than makes it obvious that it’s not designed or built for that. 😀
Bought this to replace another ageing B&D drill that my son “borrowed”. This is virtually identical other than it has a far superior battery, but didn’t cost very much more than the old one did several years ago. Add in the handy wee LED light and the fact it’s great for small LIGHT jobs, and it’s a winner for me. My lad can keep the old one.
The only very slight niggle is, there’s no clip to store the reversible driver bit, which the other drill had. A minor issue, but it was a useful feature that meant I still had the original bit years later. Black & Decker, take note.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersBought this really for when we are caravanning in the summer to put the legs down as it’s quicker and easier. Having said that it has been used a few times around the house already as it is easier to get than the big drill and it gets into corners (hubby just put up a new venetian blind and it had to go into the corner to match up with the one on the other wall) he was dreading trying to get the holes drilled in such a tight space plus the screws in place too, but it was real easy with this. Well pleased. Well worth the money.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersThis is remarkably cheap for a battery-powered drill, and so far I really can’t fault it, particularly for the price. I have an old (20+ years?) corded drill and I was loath to spend money on a new one while the old one still works, but I’ve really glad that I did. It’s easier to change bits with the keyless chuck, and this has more control for driving screws than my drill, although ultimately it has less power and no hammer function, so my old drill will still have its uses.
As a tool to keep handy which can be used quickly anywhere and will fulfil a good 90% of my drilling / driving needs, though, this is great.

Seems like a solid tool well balanced nice feel good for lighter gauge metal but charger is a bit delicate unless you just leave it in one spot .On the whole seems like a step forward for B+D.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersPerhaps my expectations were too high, but the maximum torque of this 10.8 v version is a bit disappointing. Screwing by hand is more powerful, but this one still saves me time. It’s fairly compact and seems to have good build quality.

Golden Review Award: 29 From Our UsersBought this recently as a back up drill for little jobs at work,

My requirements was someing small, compact and with a chuck big enough for a 8.5mm drill bit.

This ticked all the boxes for me,yes it’s not got the power of a 18v drill but for what I needed it for (drilling aluminium and hard plastic) it was more than adequate. Also it’s a nice weight in your hand so for young, old, male or female this is something all can use,

Pretty good battery life, as most cheap 10.8v stuff is pretty bad on battery life but this has been very good. But of course due to its smaller size some tasks are abit more time consuming than it would be with a bigger drill, but for me this is still not an issue as it’s not the main drill I use.

Torque settings are very accurate (you’d be amazed how out some cheaper ones can be!) and I’m yet to strip a thread or screw head using this as a screw driver.

Overall I’d buy it again as a back up drill and would recommend it for basic diy and flat pack furniture assembly or as a tradesman’ back up drill (like how I use it for in my job)

Only reason I give it 4 stars, there’s no case/bag with it,which lets it down, tho I carry it on my bag with my hand tools but for others this might be a issue and could put people off. Having said that for its price I guess including a case/bag would push the price up more.

I very Highly recommend this as a good budget drill

(NOTE! This is not for drilling into walls as it’s not a hammer drill!)

Golden Review Award: 10 From Our UsersGiven 4/5 because I haven’t had it long enough to give the 5th star of durability.

It’s fairly lightweight (for a screwdriver). The light that comes on as you’re screwing is brilliant and helps a lot in dark spots.I’ve had to buy some separate drill bits, they are dewalt and fit in as you’d expect. Charge time is quick, I charged for about 30 mins and it’s still going on some jobs a few days later. I reckon somewhere in the region of 100-125 screws have been taken out or put in. So a full charge will give more usage

The only qualm I have with it is that the battery doesn’t click into position as easily as it should, you do need to give it a push.

Golden Review Award: 17 From Our UsersFirst do not confuse this with the 18v drill (with the hammer action).

In short, this is Black and Decker, reasonable performance that won’t break the bank. As long as they is what you expect, you won’t be disappointed.

I bought this to help with a 4m x 4m garden deck I was putting together. Initially, I drilled and screwed together using it. Yep, It’ll drill into Pine CLS 4×2 and put a 100mm screw in. It’ll do that about 50 times before the battery is flat. In the end, I used a mains drill for pilot holes and this to put the screws in.

The motor is lively and no sparks here from mine.

What this is good for: It’s light, it does have a good clutch and variable speed on the trigger. It’s got plenty of torque on a decent speed motor. The forward/reverse can be selected while gripped. The chuck is certainly durable but it is a screw-thread not a ratchet one -what do you expect for 30 quid?

In all, it’s perfect for light to medium DIY tasks like flat-pack furniture and screwing wood together. It works well as a drill for pilot holes. I didn’t try it on masonry, I think I’d use my mains drill for that though.

The small box of B&D of drill bits and drivers is recommended too – they are tough and the HSS drill bits were up to drilling clean through 6mm sheet metal. The posidrives are good, they did fit correctly.

Golden Review Award: 9 From Our UsersVery pleased with this tool. I have started doing a lot of woodwork and my all-purpose hammer drill is just too heavy and cumbersome for drilling holes in wood and for screwing in screws. I was looking for a cheap lightweight drill, and this fits the bill perfectly.
The build quality is great. The battery seems to last a long time (and it is a lithium battery so it should keep lasting, unlike older Ni-cam batteries).
I doubt this drill would be much use on brink or masonry, but that is not what it is designed for. It is a great quality and great value for money drill for lightweight work.
