I was very tempted to buy a non Bosch battery which for a few pounds more provides higher amperage but in the end I decided to go with Bosch as my existing one has been very good. The price was good and delivery fast and warranty is dece
Be careful when buying – ensure you read the description and do not rely on the pictures , as one of the pictures shows the 1600Z00036 battery as having wireless charging tech, it doesn’t. Quick reply from seller blames this on Amazon as they created the listing..??
For the money, this is an genuine Bosch battery, yes it may have less capacity, but why not by 2 and keep one on charge. It also has the benefit of being much lighter, making the tool easier to use.
I base the headline on the fact that I bought a Pro spec combi drill and impact driver in early 2015 and have used both quite a lot at home. Those came with 1.5Ah batteries.
I also bought a single 1.3Ah “Compact” battery (cheap from another source) so that I always have a battery to fit when one of the 1.5Ah ones runs down – but one of those has finally “died” after 4yrs. Therefore I needed at least one more new one because the tools themselves are fine (if a little “battered!), and so was very pleased when I found the 2.0AH versions here on Amazon for less than I paid the 1.3AH Compact!
Also, you need to register on the Bosch Professional Tools (NOT the site for Bosch domestic products) in order to get the warrantee extension to 2 years.
That can be problematic because you may not find the part number (a long number beginning “1.6…” or “2.6…..”) printed on the battery to be shown in the website list – if so, find the nearest part number shown and enter that. Seriously, that’s what you have to do, and it works!
20 for a brand new Bosch battery? I thought I was going mad. The one I had on mine was 10 years old, 2.6Ah, and twice the size of this. So, I have a lighter, smaller battery on my tool with almost as much longevity – I only use my impact driver for home use anyway, so i rarely have a flat battery as such!
A step up from the basic battery, with the build quality and long life you’d expect from a premium brand. The ability to check charge before starting a job was my main reason for this purchase.
