Great set, comes with various attachments to keep you looking sharp!
Good variety in length of guards, keeping all beard styles tidy and trimmed.
Easy to set up and use, nice shape to hold and works well.
Hubby is very happy with this set, he really likes that it is rechargeable rather than his old wired one.
Bought this for my Dad for fathers day and he loves it! Looks nice and clean, good set of attachments for anything you need. Very easy to use and the battery life is quite long lasting. Really recommend!
Glad I went for this. The main beard trimmer is excellent. With interchangeable heads and many other attachments it offers so much. Great value too via Amazon. Delighted with it.
The first shave I had with this was great, very smooth and a good cut. Doesn’t pull the hair just glides along. The extra attachments are all great additions for a full body groom. A all in one groomer for every task.
If you buy I would recommend buying a shaver plug adapter as it doesn’t come with british three pin plug, it’s fitted with a shaver socket two pin plug.
There’s a touch of nostalgia that washed over me, bestowing this to my dear father. He seemed taken with the simplicity of use and the precision of the trim. The charge lasted longer than we anticipated, and he was able to execute his beard grooming at his leisure. It holds up well with weekly cleaning, no signs of wear yet, and he appreciates the carrying pouch.
This review is passed along from my husband. Charged well in the bathroom but be aware this is the only charger available, there isn’t one to plug onto the wall or USB. It includes a bag to keep it all together which is handy as we don’t have that for his one blade. He’s not used the foil head yet but has tried various lengths on the trimmer to keep his beard neat and it cuts really cleanly and doesn’t need re-going over. Battery life is good and hasn’t really gone down much in the few uses it has had over the month. It has a comfortable weight to it as well, not so heavy that it’s uncomfortable to hold and manoeuvre but not so light that it feels cheap or like it could break.
I do quite a bit of travelling and it’s always been a pain carrying a trimmer and close shaver in my case. This has everything, trimmer with various shaving levels, nose and ear shaver, close shaver and more! It all fits really easily into my wash bag in a small bag provided, even the charger! The parts are easy to swap over too and it’s easy to keep clean. It’s lightweight, it doesn’t feel cheap and it has a good run on a single charge. Unlike my other shaver this is relatively quiet. I don’t know what the overall battery life will be but it’s only needed a couple of charges since I bought it a few months ago.
I can’t recommend this enough, it’s really handy and it does the job.
I have purchased a lot of Trimmers in my time, some good, some bad. This one seems to be at the top end of the scale. Easy to use, light, battery life pretty good (room for improvement), close trim but does leave marks (probably my soft skin). A lot of attachments with this Trimmer. I will give it a 7/10.
This is a well made beard trimmer with a decent array of attachments and accessories, but a couple of things let it down a little.
As you would expect from Braun, it arrives well presented in a branded box. The shaving unit itself is nicely put together. It’s fairly light and fairly quiet. The main beard trimming head comes pre-attached, along with the adjustable guard/comb. Two other cutting heads are included – one for detail trimming and another with a foil head that works like a mini shaver. There’s also a cleaning brush, storage pouch and charging cable included (more on that later).
Out of the three cutting heads, the mini foil shaver is the least effective. It does work, though it doesn’t cut as close or as well as a dedicated electric shaver.
The main beard trimming head is nice and sharp and cuts cleanly. Without the guard on, it will cut pretty close. With the guard on, you can use the the dial to adjust the cut to suit the length of beard you desire, so it’s suitable for pretty much every beard type. Though it’s marketed as a beard trimmer, you can use it to cut hair too. A separate guard/comb is supplied for that, which can be adjusted by the dial just like the beard guard.
Battery life is excellent. You’ll easily get a few trimming sessions out of a single charge. On the negative side, the shaver is supplied with a two pin shaver socket charger only. No standard wall charger is included. So, if you want to charge this up from somewhere other than your bathroom, you’ll need to buy a charger socket adaptor. Personally, I think this is a huge error from Braun, as many people don’t even have a shaver socket in their house. Considering the high price of the shaver and the relatively low cost of a shaver socket adaptor, I really do think one should’ve been included.
Although this a nice shaver, I feel I can’t give it a glowing review due to the charging cable issue and the slightly sub-par foil shaver head. Those negative points, coupled with the high price point, mean I’ve had to knock a star off.
I got this for my husband to use as his old one has recently died on him! Easy to use and charge and great that it’s waterproof, Braun is well known name and this doesn’t disappoint!
The only reason I gave it 4 out of 5 stars is the price, I think it could be slightly cheaper!
Braun is a well-renowned brand so it’s easy to expect higher for the price point from them. The shaver is beautifully designed, ergonomic and comes with tonnes of attachments. I would however say that a few of the attachments don’t seem to share the same level of quality as the main device. It seems to cut well so far with little effort though I think the real test would be how long that continues to be the case. You can use it in the shower which provides a nice easy way to shave body hair. Overall 4/5
Like most Braun grooming products, this Series 5 BT5440 beard trimmer comes at a premium price. Is it worth the current retail cost of 67.49? Not quite. Based on the build quality, sturdiness, features, accessories and versatility, it should more realistically be in the 39.99-49.99 range. I suspect it will come down to that level. It’s common for brand-name electricals to be released at an overinflated price and then to gradually come down in cost over a period of months or years.
The trimmer doesn’t feel as robust as some previous trimmers I’ve used (Braun models and also Wahl models). The motor seems to be as powerful as those in the aforementioned previous models, but the outer shell is notably flimsier – not what I’d expect from a trimmer costing over 50. The plus side of the handle is that it’s ergonomic – it fits the hand comfortably and the blades are at an optimal angle to allow an easy trim. Controlling the length of cut is easy – simply rotate the dial and choose from any of the 40 lengths. That may seem like an inordinate number of length settings, but it allows real fine tuning for those who are fussy about the appearance of their beard.
The trimmer is waterproof and can safely be used in a running shower, or briefly cleaned under a running tap. Don’t completely submerge the trimmer in water, though. Despite Braun stating that the product is “100% waterproof”, that claim isn’t accurate. It’s water resistant rather than fully waterproof (i.e. watertight). So you can use it in the shower without any issues, but if you submerge the trimmer in a bath, you’ll kill it.
The included accessories add some versatility and value to the trimmer. Switching heads and/or combs is easy. The parts fit perfectly and work as they should. Also included is a carry bag which is useful for keeping everything together when travelling. One bizarre inclusion is the cable with a 2-pin plug. I know that some houses – and many hotels – have 2-pin shaver sockets in their bathrooms, but most houses don’t. The British release of the trimmer should have included a cable with a 3-pin plug – either that or a 3-pin adapter for the 2-pin cable. This was a daft oversight on the manufacturer’s part.
All things considered, this is a 3.5-star product. Giving that rating isn’t possible on Amazon, so I’ll be generous and round my rating up to 4 stars. The Braun Series 5 BT5440 is a good (if overpriced) trimmer with some genuinely useful accessories, yet it feels a bit lightweight and comes minus a 3-pin plug or adapter – that’s something Braun should fix with the next incarnation of the product.
This Braun is exactly what my beard needed… Rather too much what it needed initially (wrong setting) but once adjusted (height and correct fitting) all was well. My beard now looks significantly neater than the usual scissors job I give it. That said I still find scissors necessary for some of the “edging”.
There are a selection of fittings which easily slide on or off – and a rotary dial on the shaver itself can be used to adjust height simply and accurately. A power light indicates that it’s on (not to mention it’s vibrating and buzzing). This is green when power/battery charge is good – red when it’s low (and time to hit the charger). During charging – as a confirmation also of good power connection – the light is green.
It can be used in the shower as it’s waterproof (for splashes not submersion) which is a good thing because the hair all gets washed away with minimal effort. Otherwise I spend an age trying to find and clear every last hair from around the sink.
I have marked it down a star because it was supplied with a European/continental charging cable – necessitating the acquisition of a converter. I imagine it is available with a UK plug. The manual is also a little opaque in places requiring some thought and study.
All in all an excellent trimmer – a good all rounder.
I wasn’t aware of the Braun trimming/shaving range until I got this product. It’s a very complicated range with various combinations of attachments. This one seems to be close to the top of the range, but – unlike the products further up – doesn’t have a stand, or a large shaver head, or a Gillette razor. (Odd, I think, to include a razor. Like selling a car with a bike included.)
The attachments with this version happen to suit me. The beard trimmer is very good, and the trimmer attachment allows me to see clearly what I’m doing (unlike the trimmers on so many shavers). The little shaver attachment cuts closely but slowly, and at home I’ll tend to reach for a real shaver to get the job done more quickly. Still, when I’m travelling, I can manage with this Braun trimmer and three attachments. Just a shame that we only get a little bag, not a proper case, to carry them in.
Overall, I’m pleased with this product. It’s allowed me to trash several products that did only one of the things that the Braun trimmer does, and mostly not as well. My only problem is the price (67.49 when reviewed), which seems a lot just to keep a man’s face looking tidy.
This is a good powerful machine, similar to the Braun series 5 I used for total face shaves. The 40 different settings for length is very good and effective. It charges easily and quite quickly. It feels good in the hand. The bag is good for keeping the shaver away from other dust and bathroom gunk. I have no idea how long the battery will last and how many years it will keep enough battery power. I haven’t tested its waterproof abilities in the shower, for example, but it’s easy to clean to run water over it without worry. The variety of shaver heads should be very useful. I wonder why these companies don’t provide a little oil to get you going because the secret to a long and sharp shaver is applying oil, often.
This is a good product. Easy to hold and quick to charge. Also, nice and sharp at the moment but that may change with use. It is a “wet and dry” device, but I’ve only used it dry.
One slight irritation is that the smaller combs (1+2 for the close shave) don’t feel too secure and I’m worried they’ll come off and give me a grade 0 stripe!
Great set, comes with various attachments to keep you looking sharp!

No where near as good as I had hoped. It does not give me a close shave, which is what I wanted, and the shaving head is to small. Sorry.
