FOOTNOTE

* Page yield of ink bottle used for initial setup is lower than a replacement as a certain amount of ink is used to fill the print head during setup. Page yield is the estimated value based on Canon’s individual test method using the ISO/IEC 24712 colour chart and continuous printing simulation with the replacement ink bottles after initial setup.

Black and colour page yields are not to be combined.

Page yield varies significantly depending on contents printed and other factors.

** Document print speeds are the averages of ESAT (Word, Excel, PDF) in Office Category Test for the default simplex mode, ISO/IEC 24734.

Print speed may vary depending on system configuration, interface, software, document complexity, print mode, page coverage, type of paper used etc.

*** The economy mode reduces the black ink consumption by lowering the density, 26% more pages than the standard mode can be printed

****A4 document print speed on plain paper is measured based on average of ESAT in Office Category Test of ISO/IEC 24734 standard.

*****Page Yield is the estimated value based on Canon individual test method using the ISO/IEC 24712 chart and continuous printing simulation with the replacement ink bottles after initial setup.

******Optical resolution is a measure of maximum hardware sampling resolution based on ISO 14473 standard. When scanning in high resolution, the maximum scan size is restricted.

Things to consider before buying, which I didn’t of course until I got it:
Because it is rear paper feed the unit has to stand at least 3″ further out from a wall than a printer that has the paper feeder at the front like my old HP did, I’ve got mine on a shelf…
Printing envelopes looks a bit fiddly, something I do a lot, and you need to be able to stand directly over the printer to see the display and change the settings, we shall see how this goes…
It’s quite clunky and noisy so I wouldn’t really want it in the room I’m working in, perhaps no worse than some others, but shocked me a bit when setting up for the first time.

As commented by others: generally the display, user interface and wireless setup is fairly rubbish.
Forget trying to configure it on Windows 7 by following the getting started guide, but once you have joined it with your wireless network using a Windows 10 machine, then you can then install as a printer using the supplied CD.
If you are lucky enought to still have a CD drive, the downloadable installer exe’s don’t seem as reliable.
To be fair the CD might have worked straight off, but once you have followed the getting started sheet it’s too late and you’ve wasted quite a lot of time.

Even after that the printer diagnostics complains that the wifi signal is too weak only 10m away from the router in the adjacent room.
It may also be easy to configure the printer the first time using the USB interface but I didn’t try that because I don’t have a long enough cable and don’t intend to use USB.
Nowhere in the install guide does it tell you the web interface admin password is the printer serial number, which you will need if you want to use it.

To be fair I don’t understand the comments that say the ink levels are hard to see, they are good for me and if you want to see them really clearly shine a torch on the tanks at the front.
I like the tank concept over the traditional inkjet cartridges.
I think the addition of an RJ45 socket to connect directly into a router would make life a lot easier! There are other models that have of course…

Anyway it is working OK now after almost a day of messing.
The scanner works well and is easy to use.
I feel like I’ve been a bit rough on this printer, but let’s face it, no occasional home user wants to spend more than this costs.
if it lasts at least 5 years I’ll be happy.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersHad this printer for around a week and I’ve printed around 50 pages; a mixture of B&W and colour and it’s been fine. It’s pretty fast, quiet and so far I’ve had no problems. Was pretty easy to set up and certainly for me running Windows 10, I didn’t need the setup disk or to download any software. By the time I’d finished pointing it at my WiFi network, my PC had spotted the printer and seemed to have installed all the necessary drivers on it’s own and was ready to go. Now the bad points.
It really is built to a minimum price point. I don’t think this is going to be even a medium duty printer. The plastic is pretty flimsy and I think a good knock would break it. The most annoying thing for me is the teeny tiny LCD display. The characters are smaller than a digital watch, and the display isn’t backlit so you can’t read it unless you have a light shining directly on it and to be frank that’s pretty poor these days. But, it was easy to fill with the supplied ink, it did come with an additional bottle of black ink, and from what I’ve seen ink is a fairly reasonable price. Also, you can purchase a maintenance cartridge for it (that catches all the waste ink) which is also quite reasonable if you shop around. I think it was around 8 on the Canon website. Some printers don’t have this option and you actually have to bin the printer when the sponge get’s full. So I think for fairly light duty it should be fine… time will tell. The scanner seems to work fine and you just need to press one button to make a photocopy; you select B&W or colour. I’ve tried both and they are pretty good. I’ve only used standard printer/photocopy paper in it and it will be interesting to see what pictures printed on photo paper will look like. I’m giving it 4 stars because of the terrible display and the cheap feel of it… but right now other than that I’ve no complaints.

Great for home working and, though more expensive than some others, is great value because it has large ink tanks instead of cartridges. It comes with large bottles of ink which last for many weeks. Print quality pretty good as well.

Not sure why there are complaints about connecting to wifi and general setup. Downloading the app to smartphone was a doddle and the guided online steps were simple enough to follow. All done in 1/2 hour.

Would say that including a CD in the pack seems a tad odd – don’t think most laptops come with one nowadays? Please so far.

Golden Review Award: 13 From Our UsersThis is the Canon Pixma G3560 in their new range of high capacity cheap printing for 220. There are other options in this range without the Wi-Fi printing, scanning, or copying, at a lower price.

The printer comes in a tough cardboard box with good protection. Inside you get the printer, 5 ink bottles (2 black, 1 off each cyan, magenta, and yellow), a couple of print heads, and some instructions.

Step 1 – Open the Get Started instructions. Sorry but this is unavoidable. Follow the straight forward set up instructions. Basically fit the print heads and pour in the ink. You can save time by pouring in the black, cyan, and yellow at the same time. The short installation process after this is a bit noisy but takes less than 5 minutes.

Step 2 – Attach the USB printer cable (optional). You may need to buy this if you do not already have one, as you do not get this cable in the box. I purchased mine for 6 here on Amazon.

Step 3 – Insert plain paper or glossy photographic paper. If you are printing a photo then make sure the glossy side is facing up, otherwise the results will not be good. I made this mistake.

    Step 4 – Print.

Step 5 – Log onto the here, http://www.canon.co.uk/recycling/inkjet, in order to print out the freepost recycling label so you can make use of their service and help do your bit. Shame this is not already included in the box. Shame this is not also their step 11 on Setting Up the Printer. Come on Canon, make it easier to recycle!

The stated high yield capacity is 6,000 black copies per ink bottle. You get two in the box. For the colours the capacity is 7,000 copies per ink bottle. The official genuine cost per Canon black ink bottle (GI-51PGBK) is 14 and the Canon colours (GI-51C, GI-51M, GI-51Y) cost 9 each, so a set of 4 replacement inks would cost 41 from their store. I am not sure why the ink bottles were wrapped in plastic and with a screw top. Either the screw top works or it doesn’t.

I printed off a couple of plain black work invoices first. Then I did a couple of colour photo prints. I got to say I was really impressed with the quality of the photos that were originally taken on an iPhone. Really good colours and no blemishes or stripes. The printing was really fast with the invoice taking a couple of seconds to print, and the photo took just under a minute.

The size of the printer on my desk is A3, or two sheets of A4 next to each other. So make sure you have the space. The power cable slots in on the back left, and the printer cable slots in on the back right, although I would have preferred them the other way around. The power cable is 160 cm in total length.

The printer costs 220, but you get 5 inks that cost 55, so effectively the printer/scanner/copier only costs 165. Overall I think this is great value.

Golden Review Award: 37 From Our UsersI’ll keep this review clear, concise and to the point:

Unlike the 2000 series, this 3000 series has wireless printing which means you can print from virtually any device away from your work desk! Of course, you can still connect via a USB cable if you wish. It also has a colour screen, whereas the 2000 series has a mono LCD screen.

The concept behind this printer is high volume, low cost. It can print massive yields of up to 12,000 pages from 2 black ink bottles and 7,700 pages from EACH colour bottle @ 5% coverage!

While not advertised as a ‘photo printer’, it’s high-resolution prints at 4800 x 1200 dpi mean that photographs are high quality, especially when printing on glossy photo paper.

It’s also got a built-in scanner which scans at 600 x 1200 dpi. This is more than good enough for most cases. Maximum capacity for the paper tray is 100 sheets.

This is a great all in one printer/scanner which produces outstanding prints and I love the fact that the ink capacities are HUGE! Great to see this from Canon.

    Thank you for reading.

Golden Review Award: 39 From Our UsersCanon Pixma Wireless Printer/Copier/scanner.

Fantastic printer, easy to set up/install even for beginners. I do everything on my phone, so this was perfect for me as you don’t need a PC/Laptop connected to use it. My review is based on smartphone usage/set up only. I hope the following information helps anyone looking to buy a wireless printer.

    *It measures 44cm / 33 cm / 16.5 cm
When loaded with A4 paper and printing out pages the full height is 28cm & width is 62cm.
Power cable length is 150 cm (1.5 M).
    *In the box:
Power lead with a UK plug, 2 black & 3 colour ink bottles, 2 print heads/cartridges that the inks fill for you, clear set up instructions with QR links for videos if needed, safety info (with more do-not’s than do’s!) and an optional Windows CD Rom dated 2020.
Note – No printer to PC USB lead is included which most brands don’t provide so keep your old one if installing on a PC/laptop.

*Initial set up just takes just minutes.
Any packaging parts to remove are bright orange so you can’t miss them. Lift the printer hood and it clicks safely open, just re-lift to close. Where the blue plastic is simply pinch with thumb and a finger to lift then insert the 2 print heads (labelled C & B), firmly press closed and lock them in with the 2 blue buttons, close the printer hood. Plug in the printer, turn on, select your language, press OK and you’re prompted to fill the ink tanks. The ink tanks are clearly colour coded so lift the hood again. Lift each coloured lever one at a time and slot the matching coloured ink bottle in the hole to fill the 4 ink tanks. Each tank fits a whole bottle so it should be a mess free job. Ensure each coloured lever is firmly closed to prevent leakage and close the hood.
    *Smartphone set up:
Use the QR code on Page 5 (getting started manual), install the Free App. Open your phones Wi-Fi settings and select the printer. Open the app to link your phone with the printer. All done!
*The app is easy to use and gives you links to another Free App for multiple photo/printing options. Either keep things simple with one app or be adventurous and experiment.
Select a photo and chose the paper size/type, edit photo size etc and print.
    *Print quality:
Photocopies of documents are excellent and clear.
Full colour pages/pictures are equally excellent with vibrant colours, the better the paper – the better the copy. I used standard basic copy paper for my photo examples.
Printing a photo direct from my phone the print was detailed & clear, enlarging did not distort the picture. I noticed using basic paper the colours were a bit weak & subtle. However, Using quality glossy photo paper the printed photo was highly professional, vibrant colours & super clear detail – even with my old supply from 2003!
Using the right paper type for the right job really makes a difference.
    *scanning:
To scan – the printer needs to be installed on a PC so I cannot comment on that yet.
    *Paper loading:
The side of the paper facing you as you load it is the side it will print on, so it’s glossy side facing yourself for photo paper.
    *Head alignment:
Installing only on my phone I was not prompted to print and use an alignment page. To get one press the maintenance button on the printer, scroll left and select Print Align Value. Print the page then put it in the photocopier section print side down (grey triangle should be top left), press OK when prompted and the head alignment will begin.
The maintenance menu has several self cleaning options.

The only flaws are (especially if you’re not used to a printers symbols) there is no clear explanation of each button in any document.
You can get lost in the menus, pressing the back arrow or orange cancel button dose not always take you out of the menu, I found pressing the photocopy button resets the menu screen – doing this it won’t print anything unless you also press the white or green print buttons under the orange cancel button. It’s quite heavy so take care moving it around. Manuals & stickers warn you not to tip it while moving it because of the ink tanks.

This is a pricey printer thats worth the plunge. The basics are a breeze using the Apps, outstanding print quality, this printer has a high page yield (inks last longer for more printing) it prints quickly, accurately and fairly quietly, there’s still more features to discover. Top quality purchase.

5.0 out of 5 stars No PC required, ideal for Smartphones.

Golden Review Award: 27 From Our UsersI’m so glad manufacturers are moving away from wasteful, unreliable cartridges to use refillable ink tanks.
The box this printer comes in is humongous, and the printer is pretty bulky too (approximately 17.5 inches x 13.0 inches x 5.5 inches), and that’s because it is a multifunction product, also incorporating a copier, and a scanner. It has an excellent print resolution of 4800 x 1200dpi, a mono (black) print speed of 10.8ipm, and for colour it is 6.0 ipm. It produces amazing quality printing, and is extremely fast too. Photo print speed is also quick, and reproduction is first class, depending on the quality of the photo paper of course.
There are 4 ink tanks – Black, Cyan, Magenta & Yellow, and starter bottles are included in the box to get you up and running quickly. A full tank of each is enough to produce up to 7600 black and white pages in economy mode (6000 in normal mode), 7700 colour pages, and 2200 4inch x 6inch photos, which is a vast improvement on Canon printers of the past, and makes this really economical to use.
Copying, and scanning also work flawlessly, and quickly, over twice as quick as my existing printer.
The printer can be connect by Wifi, and this set up was relatively simple. I keep the printer about 3 metres from my PC, the connection is nice, and stable, and it is really very quiet.
You can use an array of different paper types, sizes, and weights, with the tray holding up to 100 sheets of ordinary printer paper.
The scanner is a CIS flatbed for photo and documents, with 600x1200dpi. It can scan up to A4 size.
Copier speed is sFCOT: Approx. 23 secs, ESAT: Approx. 3.2 ipm, although I’m not sure how that translates, but it is quick, produces great copies, and has a zoom feature which allows you to copy at between 25%, and 400% of the original document size, to a variety of different paper sizes.
The G3560 takes a maintenance cartridge, which maintains the G3560 in optimum condition, and ensures you get the best possible results, and maximum lifespan out of your printer.
Filling the forward facing ink tanks is really simple, and provided you use genuine Canon ink, you just insert the ink bottle, and the printer draws the correct amount, stopping when the tank is full. You can buy after market 3rd party inks, but I haven’t tried any, and I seriously wouldn’t want to, as they can cause a lot of damage to the print heads, and even if they work, may well shorten the lifespan of your printer. Besides, when you get so many prints from one set of refill bottles, you can afford to buy originals, right?
The G3560 also has Cloud capability, although I haven’t tried this yet.
This is a truly first class printer/scanner/copier, and perfect for the home office, or for busy students. It isn’t cheap by any means, but I think it is worth every penny. It is so cheap to run, and maintain, it is definitely worth paying a premium for this model.
I am still getting to grips with many of the features, but based on a few hours of use I have to say this is the best machine I have used, and a fantastic all in one solution. My advice, buy one.
