I’m so happy they restocked. The third party sellers were getting outta hand with prices. My kids love the barbie dream house, have the cars and a ton of characters. I’m eager to watch them get excited over decorating it with Christmas!
I bought this for my niece so she can accessorize her little people dream house I got her last Christmas. Once I saw the little pink tree I had to have it.
Thought I would return for a new one but now they are sold out. And I don’t want to exchange it for something I didn’t want. So now I’m just out a figure I guess.
As a lifelong Barbie fan (and a big fan of Fisher Price’s Little People and their wonderful playsets, too, as they are just the cutest!), I am really looking forward to seeing my young niece’s reaction to this adorable, nicely done set. It is perfect for older toddlers!
These are the same great quality we’ve come to expect from the Little People line. I love that we’re going to be able to “decorate” her LP house she got last Christmas.
It did not arrive in a separate box when delivered, so keep that in mind when ordering. If your kids are around when it’s delivered you may run into them seeing what it is immediately.
Box was a little damaged when it arrived. I also noticed the inside plastic that holds the 24 pieces was actually in the wrong way so I’m glad I checked because that would have not matched up with the doors for each piece. So just warning everyone to check the inside to make sure it’s the correct way!
This little advent calendar is so cute! It would be perfect for new or brand new Barbie lovers and little ones. I appreciate that the set isn’t overly holiday themed like a lot of advent calendars are.
My little girls absolutely love everything Barbie. We have advent Calendars every year for the holidays, so this was an obvious choice for this year. This comes with 24 pieces, so I can’t wait to start using this on December 1st and for many years to come! The box doubles as the background for the pieces, so make sure to open it carefully!
Super cute advent calendar! I got this for my daughter who loves anything Barbie, so she is going to be so excited when she sees it. I’m saving it for around Christmas time, so we haven’t opened it yet. The box came in great condition and it looks like it’s going to be lots of fun. She loves the suprise factor, so she will really enjoy it. All the figures look adorable and I love how they all go together to make a whole playset. I can’t wait for her to open it!
Literally too cute! Had to buy it before re-sellers this Christmas. Haven’t opened it yet for my daughters birthday, but I’m sure just as cute as pictures. Mine came in a Amazon box because at the bottom before check out it gave me an option for either a Amazon box or come as is so maybe it’s prime members that get to pick and choose to hide what’s inside. Either way nothing to complain about it’s a kids toy.
Decent size. Cute details. The box Opens up like a Christmas house. Some of the ornaments can be hung on the cardboard fire place. The figurines are the size of most toddler bath toys. My child opened up everything in one afternoon. Not sure how to keep it from her for 24 days. We put the toys back to the box the first few days so that she get to practice taking the toys from each door. She enjoys this set a lot.
The product is as described. The Little People toys are well designed and loved by toddlers and pre-schoolers.
However, adults should be aware that this toy does NOT come in a boring brown box, but rather in the toy box itself, as shown in the ad’s photos. In other words, the packaging will scream “Toys!” to even a child of 18 months. Adults who wish to surprise a child might want to consider having this item shipped to an Amazon pick up location .or to Grandma’s house. 😉
Overall I think it’s a really cute calender surprise set, I think mini collectors, kids and barbie fans will absolutely adore all the little details throughout pieces have. Very bright and festive. Though maybe not the best value, there’s a few just random background pieces which in my opinion should be paired with something else in the same space and a character added instead.
The order of the toys is thoughtful, though, mostly. Too many advent calendars have an order that doesn’t make sense for kids to play with the toys. This one makes sense, mostly. The spaces are molded to each toy’s shape, so you can’t swap many of them to make them be opened on different days.
Beware of spoilers in the rest of this review:
The people figures feel more solid and heavier than the last Little People toys we had. The people figures come on days 1, 3, 14, and 23. I like that there’s a doll on the first day and another doll just a couple days later. Day 1 is a girl in ski wear; day 3 is the boy in ski wear. The boy has a helmet; the girl does not. I wish the girl was also wearing a helmet, but I guess they wanted the hair to be visible. The 2nd and 4th days are skis and a snowboard, and the 5th day has the ski slope, so kids can take the dolls on a skiing adventure in early December before the Christmas items start to appear in the calendar. The day 14 doll wears pajamas; the day 23 doll wears a party dress. (As with other Little People dolls, the clothes are molded on.)
The sign post on Day 6 is the transition between the ski slope and the house; the sign has stickers that point to the ski slope in on direction and the house in the other direction. The back of the sign post has unpainted molded details of holly, candy canes, snowflakes, and a snowman. When the dolls come home from their ski trip (or is it not their home; is it a ski lodge?), they can start decorating the cardboard-background-house for Christmas!
The wreath, star, and stocking (days 9, 11, and 18) have plastic pegs on the back that press into the holes in the cardboard background (inside the front of the box; just open the flap to reveal the house scene). It’s good that they included the cardboard background house scene so kids would have a place to put those if they don’t have the compatible doll house. Based on my experience with other advent calendars, I have to say this: make sure to open the flap on the front of the box to reveal the calendar doors and the background scene. I’ve noticed over the years that about half of people who buy advent calendars don’t open the front flap, and they assume that their calendar has no doors. They are there; just open the flap.
The pink Christmas tree (day 19) is just the front half of a tree; it’s hollowed out and has no back.
The toy gift boxes (days 10 and 22) don’t really open on top. They’re hollowed out on the bottom. If you want to play that there are toys inside and that the dolls are opening the gifts, you’ll have to flip them over to “open” them.
The pet bed comes on day 17, right after you get the dog on day 16. Unfortunately, the beautiful cat figure doesn’t come until day 21. No one in our family likes dogs, so I predict that the dog will get tossed aside and not used. I tried swapping the spots of the cat and dog so the cat can be opened earlier, but since the spaces are molded to each toy, they can’t be swapped.
The ornament that is in the last door of the calendar is huge – 3.5 inches in diameter. The front has stickers of two girls and stars. The back has an unpainted molded scene of Santa and three reindeer flying over a snowy house by the mountains. Since the ornament is bright pink plastic, I can’t imagine using it on my actual Christmas tree. It would be ok for a child’s tree.
The other items are two tables (days 7 and 15), a chair and sofa (days 8 and 12), a grey snowflake-print soft fabric rug (day 13), and a skateboard (day 20).
I like that all the pieces that have stickers have them already on the toy and that the stickers are straight and in place.
Be aware that the toy ships without a shipping box. It has two huge shipping labels on the front; they don’t peel off. If this is a gift or a surprise, and if your toddler will be home when the delivery comes, be sure to distract them so they don’t see the surprise. Even if the advent calendar itself isn’t a surprise, the box reveals all of the contents, so you may not want them to see the outer box until you’ve opened it up into advent calendar form to hide the contents spoiler on the back where they won’t see it. The box is also very dirty, having been shipped around the country and handled by so many people and machines. Bad move to ship it loose like that when it should be kept clean for the toddlers.
My daughters love Fisher Price Little People so we decided to check out this fun advent calendar. The box is perfectly square so you can wrap it upon arrival if you are wanting to gift it. I would highly recommend checking the inside orientation of the items however from the side, as the one we received resulted in the items inside and the openings not matching (I had to remove the plastic from the side and flip it and re-insert it to line it all up – see photo where the Christmas tree was in the incorrect 7 box). Other than the little hiccup, the quality of the items is really nice. My girls had fun taking them all out and there were 2 items that pop into the front cover for them to play with – the stocking and wreath. This is perfect for a Christmas gift. A must have.
