Watch is great. Not as white as it looks in pictures unfort. Haven’t been able to get accurate tides on it yet but lots of features. Delivery was super quick crazy quick
This watch is many in a collection but has not been taken off since it’s been brought tracks everything you could think off and everything you didn’t even know you could track. This has really helped with my lifestyle and fitness goals to stay on track along with a ridiculous battery life which lasts for weeks.
Takes 10 minutes to set up. Very light for a watch this size. Lots of exercise options.
Bought 2 as the first one delivered was a set of wooden sofa legs – Amazon and Klana sorting the refund out. Order picker off for an eye test.
Love this Garmin watch. After 2 weeks of using this watch every day for running, swimming, strength, etc. I can say this is a great fitness watch. The battery holds for around 20-28 days – depending on your GPS, notification, brightness, etc. settings. Do not forget to download the Connect app to view your stats! You will also need to update your watch software before the 1st use.
Replaced a Fitbit with this over GPS issues.
Haven’t looked back. Everything is accurate and it makes you forget about the thing on your wrist until you want to look. Unobtrusive and a good watch first.
Can’t believe it does so much for the price, you name it this garmin does it, Sea & pool swim, bike, triathlon, kayak, yoga….. it just does everything I need and more. Text is a bit small for my eyes but overall grea
Although I am quite satisfied with the watch overall , I am disappointed of the battery. It doesn’t charge on any light, only outdoors sunlight. It goes off in the middle of the battle. You’ve gotta keep it charged.
Lots of fitness advice. Sleep feature is especially interesting. I’m a 5 foot petite lady and it sits comfortably on my wrist. The pink/red strap is quite attractive.
Initially it’s easy to use, so many features. I’m working on using the more complex features.
I had a garmin 405 before this and still have and use it, but this one is up a good few levels. the info available on it is brilliant. I bought mostly for my running but that has been curtailed for a while. The accuracy of time and all info is very very good. Morning reports weather etc (more reliable than local weather forecasts) Heart rate, lap time, safety tracking, track back onyourself everything i need love it and Highly reccomend.
Excellent for what I need, all the tracking of sports I do and is comfortable and smart. I had a solar watch previously that never needed charging so went for solar this time. For the extra cost I wouldn’t say the decision has been good value, I am still having to charge overnight at least once a fortnight/ 3 weeks so might as well have not bought the solar version. Very happy otherwise
Servizio Amazon impeccabile come sempre!
The watch works really well, and has a lot of features that I’m still finding.
The only reason I’ve removed a star is the brightness of the display. I read other reviews mentioning this, and thought I could live with it ( and I can) , but it really isn’t readable in low light, even with the backlight. I can always read it by moving to a brighter area or using my phone torch, so it’s not anything that would change my decision to buy this watch. It is enough to be an annoyance.
I had Garmin Instict Solar for 2 years and I was very happy with that watch. Never thought of changing it until I saw the new 2X Solar.
Main facts that the 2X feels like a major upgrade against 1 Solar:
1) Solar charging: Is significantly improved
2) HR sensor and Multiband-GPS. HR sensor is more accurate and as for GPS: finally I have accurate elevation data and accurate GPS when swimming.
3) Garmin Pay with NFC!
4) Torch! yes it’s veeery handy
5) Software tweaks. It has IQ support which means no more effort transfering routes from komoot, strava and AllTrails to the watch. It’s a piece of cake now.
Having been using daily since purchase and battery still on 30days, it’s great not to carry extra charging cables, fitnes tracking is good , been used for swimming and cycling tracking is on par with other devices
So I bought the 2 non solar, no garmin pay on it, its bigger than the solar at 45 but not as big as the 2x. I had a fenix x pro but I sold it , I found it too heavy to wear with its steel case and heavy amoled display and I wasnt using all the features. I sold the fenix and got the instinct 2 its battery life is way longer and it does what I need, tracks routes via gps it has glonass and galileo. There is no mapping on it but I can use my phone for that which I only need ocassionally.
I also dont need garmin pay, its clunky requiring pin numbers etc. I can use my phone anyway so no biggie.
Its light and easy to wear with gshock type styling.
Excellent product. Takes a little while to learn the settings…. but nice quality. Instructions could do with a little improvement but OK. Charge cable is USB C so if you have mostly USB A then a good idea to get an C to A Adapter as well. Overall very nice product with all the added advantages of a smartwatch for use outdoors…
Man muss halt sportliche Klopperuhren mgen.
I walk, bike and run, the running is getting much better and farther but I am certainly no gazelle !!
I had been using Strava on my phone for years even though my work colleagues and friends all had flash watches i stuck to my analogue automatic Seiko.
That watch started to lose time and I did some research – I’m an Apple boy at heart but just couldn’t square away the price and battery life against what I actually needed (I’m no explorer).
I plumbed for this one and have not been disappointed. It’s easy to use and the supporting App (which is key to me) feels very accessible and I am still to really use it to its full.
Battery life is in weeks rather than days, illumination excellent, comfortable and I like the colour – not as striking as stainless steel (my preference) but it’s growing on me.
Perfectly happy with black and white and not colour and I don’t need to see a map on my wrist either so it’s met my requirements.
Couldn’t be happier with the watch itself – the measurements and customisations are fantastic and the watch is much lighter than expected for its size.
Just be careful with the Amazon pricing, as they seem to be constantly changing the prices of the different colour watches – don’t know why they can’t just be standard when the only difference is the colour(apart from the tactical version).
Had the original Instinct for the last two years and it was the best smartwatch/sports watch I’d used. Loved it but it was starting to show its limitations.
My GF bought me the Instinct 2 Solar for my birthday and I couldn’t believe how much it’s been improved upon.
1. The screen has better resolution and has far more faces to choose from, including from Connect IQ. That said I used an online face maker to create my own with 13 different data fields.
2. Battery life. A huge improvement over the first one. And that solar panel really does come into its own when you’re outdoors. Sat in the sun on holiday watching the football and my battery actually rose. It really does charge the watch. To be used as more of an aid than the only way to charge but it all helps to extend the already amazing battery.
3. A lot more data/health reading with Vo2 Max included. HRV status and respiration added to your daily data.
4. Garmin Pay now included. While there aren’t many UK banks that support it, you can open a Curve account for free, add your credit card to it and Garmin will accept the Curve card details. Pay with your watch? How cool is that!
I use this watch as a smartwatch firstly and it does all that you’d expect, notifications (and replies with pre-written templates), music control, solar intensity readings weather alerts, alarms, etc. As a sports watch I use it to broadcast HR to my Garmin Edge 130, and collate all health info to Garmin Connect. It’s already reading my physical fitness age and is setting fitness goals from my cycling.
The build quality is everything you’d expect from Garmin, solid.
I’m still only just touching the surface of what this watch can do but so far it’s impressing the hell out of me.
Update 2023:
My Instinct 2 Solar battery vegan to fail after a little over a year of daily use, after a short correspondence with Garmin support they exchanged it for new. Excellent customer support and still an excellent watch.
Original:
The Instinct 2 Solar is an excellent fitness watch with smart features.
Having gone from an old forerunner to a TicWatch Pro, and now back to a garmin with the Instinct 2 solar I can comfortably say this is my favourite.
It’s rugged and in style reminiscent of a G Shock which fits perfectly into a range of my active hobbies like climbing, the gym and hiking, but still manages to look appealing with casual clothes or at dinner (assuming you like that style of course!).
The display is simple monochrome compared to the TicWatch I upgraded from or even some of Garmin’s more advanced offerings, but the simplicity makes it very easy to read in all conditions even underwater in the pool.
Despite the old(er) school aesthetic the Instinct is loaded with technology, all of which has so far worked well for me with the only exception being the usual wrist based HR issues experienced on all sensors showing themselves here too. So if HR is essential for you will still want a chest strap to pair with it, especially in a pool.
Battery life has been incredible, I’ve gone from 1.5 days on the TicWatch to about 11 days (with most sensors running, some set to monitor during the night only) and that’s with very little opportunity to get some extra solar power!
All in all a great fitness watch for more than just the extreme outdoors person, with an old school look and very modern quality of life features.
