Haven’t looked back. Everything is accurate and it makes you forget about the thing on your wrist until you want to look. Unobtrusive and a good watch first.
I’ve had this watch for over a month and used it everyday. Love it. I’ve used it for walking in snowdonia, running outside, on treadmill, golf and used it for daily metrix. Can’t fault it. The battery life is fanominal but if you’re tracking on GPS it goes through the battery much quicker. Appreciate that will be obvious to most. Easy to use, setup and I like the size/look of the watch (chunky without being massive!). I’d definitely recommend.
Looks smart, a but more robust looking than my garmin 235. Seems value for money and I can actually put all my workouts on it; swim run bike hike gym etc.
Lots of fitness advice. Sleep feature is especially interesting. I’m a 5 foot petite lady and it sits comfortably on my wrist. The pink/red strap is quite attractive.
Initially it’s easy to use, so many features. I’m working on using the more complex features.
Main facts that the 2X feels like a major upgrade against 1 Solar:
1) Solar charging: Is significantly improved
2) HR sensor and Multiband-GPS. HR sensor is more accurate and as for GPS: finally I have accurate elevation data and accurate GPS when swimming.
3) Garmin Pay with NFC!
4) Torch! yes it’s veeery handy
5) Software tweaks. It has IQ support which means no more effort transfering routes from komoot, strava and AllTrails to the watch. It’s a piece of cake now.
Having been using daily since purchase and battery still on 30days, it’s great not to carry extra charging cables, fitnes tracking is good , been used for swimming and cycling tracking is on par with other devices
I also dont need garmin pay, its clunky requiring pin numbers etc. I can use my phone anyway so no biggie.
Its light and easy to wear with gshock type styling.
Excellent product. Takes a little while to learn the settings…. but nice quality. Instructions could do with a little improvement but OK. Charge cable is USB C so if you have mostly USB A then a good idea to get an C to A Adapter as well. Overall very nice product with all the added advantages of a smartwatch for use outdoors…
I had been using Strava on my phone for years even though my work colleagues and friends all had flash watches i stuck to my analogue automatic Seiko.
That watch started to lose time and I did some research – I’m an Apple boy at heart but just couldn’t square away the price and battery life against what I actually needed (I’m no explorer).
I plumbed for this one and have not been disappointed. It’s easy to use and the supporting App (which is key to me) feels very accessible and I am still to really use it to its full.
Battery life is in weeks rather than days, illumination excellent, comfortable and I like the colour – not as striking as stainless steel (my preference) but it’s growing on me.
Perfectly happy with black and white and not colour and I don’t need to see a map on my wrist either so it’s met my requirements.
Just be careful with the Amazon pricing, as they seem to be constantly changing the prices of the different colour watches – don’t know why they can’t just be standard when the only difference is the colour(apart from the tactical version).
My GF bought me the Instinct 2 Solar for my birthday and I couldn’t believe how much it’s been improved upon.
1. The screen has better resolution and has far more faces to choose from, including from Connect IQ. That said I used an online face maker to create my own with 13 different data fields.
2. Battery life. A huge improvement over the first one. And that solar panel really does come into its own when you’re outdoors. Sat in the sun on holiday watching the football and my battery actually rose. It really does charge the watch. To be used as more of an aid than the only way to charge but it all helps to extend the already amazing battery.
3. A lot more data/health reading with Vo2 Max included. HRV status and respiration added to your daily data.
4. Garmin Pay now included. While there aren’t many UK banks that support it, you can open a Curve account for free, add your credit card to it and Garmin will accept the Curve card details. Pay with your watch? How cool is that!
I use this watch as a smartwatch firstly and it does all that you’d expect, notifications (and replies with pre-written templates), music control, solar intensity readings weather alerts, alarms, etc. As a sports watch I use it to broadcast HR to my Garmin Edge 130, and collate all health info to Garmin Connect. It’s already reading my physical fitness age and is setting fitness goals from my cycling.
The build quality is everything you’d expect from Garmin, solid.
I’m still only just touching the surface of what this watch can do but so far it’s impressing the hell out of me.
