Bought this to work with our new YouFibre connection. It works the only problem is the original phone cable in the box is designed to work directly into a phone port in the wall not into a hub. Luckily had another cable which worked and did the job.
Got a new home phone system using the WiFi. On my old phone could recieve call but could not call out. Had bought two of these old phones at the same time, one went out with same problem I was having with second old phone. Got these new phones tried them out and they are working just fine right now.
I don’t like the display, not easy to see the time. I know that’s not the most important feature of a ‘phone but I used one that was good for seeing the time.
I haven’t yet been able to receive messages on the answerphone, probably I need to spend more time trawling trough the instructions.
Quite happy with this item. Easy to set up. My only dislike is melody tones when ringing, nothing quite stands out. A few times I have even missed calls as I hadn’t heard it ring/realised it was phone even though ringing volume on high.
I have had a Gigaset previously and the only reason I changed it is because the screen had gone blank and no way to retrieve it. I found the screen on the previous set very clear on walking to answer it, but not so on this one unfortunately. Just have to get closer. Hmmmm
It’s very basic adding the phone book numbers you have to do each, phone separately that’s a pain if you have a lot off numbers to enter also the caller display does not retain the numbers that called .also when you key up your it displays the last number called it will dial this number first and dial it unlss you enter the required number from the key pad first then bring the line up I could go on with more one more there is no instructions with this phone you have to get them on line be aware off this you have. To no a bit about Menu’s as I said it’s a basic phone think you could get a better one for the price if you shop abou
I found it easy to set up although I don’t need all the functions. The few ringtone choices are not that good and ring volume should be louder. I like the built in answer machine. Overall its a good phone as does exactly what I bought it for… To make and receive calls.
If you are after a good quality, basic cordless handset with answerphone, then this is for you.
Not many bells and whistles – it has a few different ringtones, a number memory function and a perfectly serviceable answerphone function in the base station, with a flashing indicator that you have a new message.
Worked fine straight out of the box. The handset charges from the base station.
Only down sides – if you mount it on the wall it’s a bit ungainly, and the handset has a tendency to fall out of the cradle at the slightest provocation. Also the power cable is very loose fitting in the socket on the back of the base station, and can fall out if the wire is jiggled by, say, an excitable toddler. Nothing a bit of blu-tac won’t solve.
Other than that, it’s a phone. Sound quality is clear, handset range about 20 metres or so before it starts to break up. Has a hands-free option, clear screen, easy to read buttons, loud ringtones.
Very pleased with it, good price, good value.
This age old non mobile telecommunication device gets plugged in via a cable. Like charging a mobile but always left plugged in. When you give someone your number and they press call your phone will ring…but do you answer? If not answerphone! Like voicemail but a lot more 90’s. Phone and cradle overall are decent enough, does what you want it to do. In phone navigation is a bit tedious hence not 5*. Answerphone is easy with buttons on the cradle.
The market for home telephones is large and there is plenty which is difficult to set up with two handsets or falls short with sound or reception being poor. This Gigaset model gladly avoids these many issues by remaining simplistic and highly functional. The phone comes with a speakerphone base and hands-free feature to talk and listen like a mobile phone on speaker, all at an amazingly low price.
This model comes with two handsets, a that are super easy to pair and work perfectly for downstairs and upstairs access. The instructions are as easy as plugging in each device and setting them to each to their bases. The pairing is automatic and now will ring on both ends when there is an incoming call. These phones have a large, bright orange and clear display, making this extremely helpful for elderly users. Contacts can be created and saved so the next time someone has their name promptly shows. Likewise, date, time and auto answering can be set for full functionality.
In contrast to the quietness of many home phones I’ve used over the years, this Gigaset model does a better job of being loud and clear when ringing and taking. The volume can be altered but anything below maximum sounds too quiet. If wanted, the original ringtone can be changed to your suiting with a good number of tones provided. Most importantly, calls are clear and loud. This is made clear when using the hands-free function. Just a press on the flashing green telephone button during a call instantly enables you to begin taking and listening hands-free which allowed me to continue with a lot of chores!
I’ve barely used the speakerphone base but have already got the chance to see how voicemails become conveniently stored and playable through this. There is no ‘additional costs’ or anything extra to set up, the base simply works from the get-go. There maximum storage of 30 voicemails which is more than plenty. Voicemails can be easily deleted with the X button to make room for more.
In all, a highly functional handset kit which includes all the necessary features and visibility for all ages to enjoy using.
Instructions to set up were quite poor. Just a sheet of paper with unclear symbols. I did struggle a couple of times even though some reviews said it was easy to set up! The handset earpiece is quite quiet even on loudest settings, but although quiet it is very clear. It is much louder on handsfree. The answerphone is loud and clear. It was very straightforward sending the directory list to second handset, but the numbers have to be entered manually on the first handset which is a bit of a task! However, overall, I am pleased with the phones and would have given a higher scoring if a setting up manual had been enclosed, rather than having to look up on the internet .
