Small tray with small mesh. I put it under my thistle sock to catch it the seeds that fall out. Said it came with an insert to fit smaller poles mine didnt but used a small piece of rubber ans it fits well. Tray lifts off to clean.. nice productio
This mesh feeder is very good. Both the mesh bowl and the pole attachment are well made. The bowl ‘ring’ attaches to the pole with a bracket/wing nut screws, these can be tightened by hand and are secure. The bowl is a good size and can hold a fair amount of your chosen bird feed. It’s a good design as the bowl can be easily removed for cleaning. Quite impressed, and the birds were using it within 5 mins of it going up.
I wanted something sturdy so I could set up a camera on the pole too. This works great as its not swinging when the wind blows. Easy to clean, like the mesh so water doesn’t gather.
The stand is well made and the mesh basket holds the seeds really well without seeds falling on the ground. The clamp is made for a 1″ pole and we attached ours to a shephards hook that is smaller in diameter. We ended up putting a piece of rubber around the pole to make the clamp fit tighter.
When installed, this is a very tight fitting and sturdy unit for either a water dish or as a food tray. Is very easy to install and to clean. My poles are smaller than 1 inch so I simply put a couple of bolt nuts against the pole and then put the included hardware around the nuts and then tightened the wing nuts. Perfect! I would really like to see a larger water tray and one deep enough to accommodate a solar floating water pump using this same design. I believe this would be a home run for anyone willing to manufacture and sell one. I would pay the price for such a unit.
As I hang ALOT of feeders, this was perfect solution when my last tray fell to bits..works really well and great you can remove to wash and clean. Worth every penny. I did find it difficult to screw onto pole with old hands. Help may be needed if Ur like me.
i have two split shepard’s hooks for my bird feeders. i used to have a really cheap, segmented pole “station” that came with bowls similar to these, but i opted to switch for studier shepard’s hooks. i wanted to keep the bowls, because they allowed me to offer more food varieties, but they didn’t attach securely and were just sort of a “jerry-rigged” solution
but then i found this!!! i wasn’t sure if it would attach securely to the thicker part of the shepard’s hook, where the two pieces join together, but it’s perfect!!! i think what makes this attachment style so flexible with different pole sizes is the fact that the “plates” are two attachable pieces.
the bowl itself is also awesome. it’s almost double the size of the bowls i had previously, and it’s a fine mesh that allows rain to wash through the seed (rather than flooding it.)
This was bought to replace a broken bird feeder that looked the same and was attached to a pole, this feeder fitted the pole perfectly and the birds are using i
Like all products of this kind it will be outdoors 24/7 so will have to see how durable it is – so far it looks well made. If you wanted to attach it to a post or similar then just take the clamp apart and use a couple of screws.
