A good quality bottle, no leaks, solid build. It’s a narrow diameter so fits in pockets on backpacks made for water bottles. It’s not insulated (bottle is a single layer of metal) so can condensate on the outside when you put something cold in it.
It works quite well, easy to use, and is a nice colour. After about nine months of solid use, the lid broke though. That’s it. It’s just a water bottle. It works fine, not buying another because I want a bigger size, but not really relevant. Doesn’t leak.
I was after a bottle that could be properly cleaned after the contents of my ‘old’ plastic bottle, no matter what I cleaned it with, still smelt odd. Glass and metal were the options and I choose metal.
The powder paint coating helps with gripping it, the colours available are great, its diameter (600ml version) means it fits in my bottle holder and the spring loaded flip top is great — as are the ways the lid can be kept secure.
Early days, but this seems like a well designed, well built, product.
I filled the bottle up and then poured the contents into my measuring jug. I contained 600ml, just as described.
Expected this bottle to keep water cold for a few hours but as it’s not double skin insulated it doesn’t.
Nice bottle however looks small but is quite descriptive.
Not bad but if you want your drink to stay cold longer not recommended.
It is a really cool water bottle. It is metal based feels good to the touch. Only comment I have is that a spring that open the lid is a bit week sometimes it needs a nudge to open.
My child been using these, and a few other brands of water bottles for a while. The Ion8 has by far the best water bottle design for children. Kids have no trouble quickly opening and closing the lid correctly such that these bottles will never, ever leak! Even more impressive is that this leak-proof design has no hard-to-clean small parts, or silicon seals. These bottles stay clean and are also super easy to clean.
The metal bottles are the best ones, they look great and last forever. We’ve found that the hard plastic bottles from this, and other brands, never seem to last more than 6 months of mild abuse before cracking, but with metal, cracking is not an issue. If banged around — a child’s backpack is a rough environment for water bottles! — the shiny exterior can chip and the metal can ding but that’s to be expected. This is for the 1.0 models, haven’t tried the 2.0 yet. These are absolutely fantastic bottles for children (and grown-ups too).
I was looking for a leak-proof water bottle that I can operate with one hand, without a straw and opted for this one. It’s exactly what I wanted and works really well. With a simple lock that can be flicked off with your thumb, and simple catch that flips the lid open with a light press, it’s exactly what I wanted. The fact that it’s so simple means it’s really easy to clean, unlike bottles with an internal straw that seem to be everywhere at the moment. There is no insulation so it’s nice and lightweight and maximises capacity for the size. This does mean that you get condensation on the outside with really cold drinks, and it’s unsuitable for hot drinks, but for my purposes, that’s no problem. As a bonus, there’s a good selection of colours available too!
Really happy with this bottle and would be happy to purchase again.
Everything else is fine but I’ve given it 4 stars because I don’t understand the point of the tiny hole at the top. Says for “airflow” but that comes out the mouth hole anyway? So what’s the actual point of it? Gave it as a gift and they mentioned how it just leaks water from there. Dumb idea.
This is overall an excellent bottle.the second I have bought (got one to keep at work)
However, while still by far the best bottle design I’ve had the quality of the one purchased on Amazon was notably lower than that on one I bought in a physical store. This was primarily in the plastic moulding which was not as clean on the Amazon one. There were ragged seams.
I bought 2 of these for my girls school bags. We have been using them for a while now and they are definetly leak proof. They are easy to use and clean and as I only use them with water they don’t appear to affect the taste.
They do fit in car doors and drinks holders which is a plus, the downside of this though is that they are tall and narrow which means that they get knocked over easily, and therefore dented. The finish has scratched off over time but this does not affect use. If you leave it in the sun for anytime with water in the pressure builds up and the bottom bulges making it not stand well, this is a testament to its being leakproof and is easily fixed by a grown up.
They are not insulated so the drink will be at room temperature.
All in all I am pleased with them and hope they last.
