Kynup Vernier Calipers, 150mm Calipers Measuring Tool with Large LCD Screen, Auto-Off Feature, Inch Metric Fraction Conversion Caliper Tool for Household/DIY/Jewelry/Woodworking, 2 Extra Button Cells
Four way calipers. Accurate enough and robust enough for me as a DIYer. Spare batteries included. Useful case to make sure its all together the next time I need it.
Brought this as a backup in case my more expensive metal one breaks however I found this one to be more reliable, feels easy to break with it’s plastic body but if you use it in a safe environment it’s better than most. Only to 1 decimal point however.
I’m still happy with this produc
I almost didn’t buy these carbon fibre callipers after reading a number of negative reviews.
However, I’m delighted that I took the plunge and I have not experienced any of the problems reported by some reviewers; perhaps the new ones have been improved.
The digital readout will very occasionally show a negative reading when you switch on but this is not an error. It is quite normal with many digital devices (such as digital scales) and there is a button to zero the reading. From there on it is plain sailing.
If I wanted an extremely accurate measurement, such as a nut or bolt thread measurement, I would use a micrometer. However, for most other measurements, I have found these callipers to be surprisingly accurate, and the inside, outside and depth measurement functions (by using the various points on the callipers) are all extremely useful.
At this price you really can’t go wrong. I am delighted with mine.
These are well made, all metal digital calipers. Comes with a battery fitted and two spare batteries. Unlike many other low price tools this comes with a decent set of instructions.
Measurements appear to be accurate and can be in mm, inches or fractions of an inch which is useful for Americans.
Been impressed by these, much better than the previous set I had
As previous reviewers have mentioned the setting wheel feels loose, but works fine. The reported problem with movement waking it up doesn’t happen, maybe that was just the previous version. Accuracy checked against feeler gauges, zeros well, the depth facility is very useful for me as is the fractions function. I’m not an engineer, just a guitar tech, and this does everything I need at an amazing price. And two free spare batteries!
A lot of digital calipers only give metric and decimal imperial measurements, but this one also gives fractions. Measured against other measuring tools I have they are as accurate as needed for model engineering purposes, and a joy to use. Only negative is that the slightest movement of the sliding part turns them on so you’ll need to be careful when you put them away to prevent a flat battery.
Quite impressive quality at a budget price. LED screen tends to flash a bit and not super easy to read but moving parts function nicely and for a home mechanic I’d say very acceptable. Pleased overall.
Great set that has a bunch of features to compete with more expensive brands. One annoying feature is that if you turn it off but slightly move the slide it automatically comes back on, so need to be careful when putting it away!
I get through a lot of digital calipers – I use them daily, they get lost, ‘borrowed’ or (at this price point) eventually fail in one way or another. Personally I use them for a quick check when machining to get things to +/- 0.02mm before switching to micrometers if I need to be more accurate.
These seem OK for that purpose. On the plus side:
– The jaws are well machined. There is no discernible gap between them when closed and held up to a light.
– They return to zero on opening and reclosing. Not always the case with instruments at this price.
– They are accurate to spec (+/- 0.02mm) over their full range and better (+/- 0.01mm) over 0-50mm.
On the minus side:
– the action is slightly ‘gritty’ compared to high end instruments, but it’s not a problem in practice.
– the display is smaller than other comparable calipers I have – not a problem for me, but maybe a consideration for others.
