Works as described… mostly. I wanted a simple hub that I could hot-swap between my Dell Windows Laptop and my Mac Mini M1, which it does quite well. Monitors, ethernet, USB peripherals, all work fine. The only function that doesn’t is the audio minijack, which works fine with the PC, but not with the Mac. (Support says I should upgrade from OS 11 to OS 13, but I’m not prepared to do that just for this, especially when the description says it is compatible with OS 11). So that’s a bit frustrating, but if that isn’t an issue for you, then go for it!
The build quality is good and all connections work quickly once a lead is plugged in. I only wanted to hook up a couple of pieces of peripheral equipment and am now finding uses for more and more ports! Quality item, delivered next day as well, even though I went with the free standard delivery! Brilliant customer experience and totally recommend.
Functions really well, It has been put through several tests and preforms well with no hiccups. Had recent contact with the supplier, again very knowledgeable and friendly, would certainly recommend this product and company.
I might just be unlucky, but mine has broken within 3 months. It is making a very high pitched noise and the HDMI connection to my monitor no longer works. Disappointed.
Update: The sellers reached out and provided a free replacement, which I appreciate. I have started to use the new one and so far so good. It works great (as did the first one until it didn’t), so I am hopeful I was unlucky with my first one and this one will last much longer.
I was very happy with this product; however, the HDMI interface developed a fault; however, no worries!
I contacted the supplier via Amazon and received a replacement the NEXT DAY! This has to be the best customer service that I’ve experienced for a while! It’s no so much about whether there is a problem; it’s all about how the problem is resolved. Thank you.
I bought this and the product is really handy for extending your plug-in options when working at home. The first one I bought did have some sporadic issues but I was sent a replacement which is working fine so really happy with how it was resolved!
Not sure if this is old stock, but the ethernet is 100Mbps not 1000Mbps – the description says it’s 1GbE in some places but not others. Rather than just returning to Amazon, I contacted the manufacturer, who responded really quickly – asked for name and address and sent out a replacement unit almost straight away. When it arrived, it had another USB C port – and SD/microSD slots built in too. All working fine, network at 1GbE and charging through the USB C-PD socket. Can’t fault their support 🙂
Nice bit of kit, it’s lightweight and has a nice premium feel to the finish. Not as swanky as one of the bigger named brands, but it does the job and at a fraction of the price. What more could you want.
Being using this for couple of days now and it has been working perfectly. Overall a very good usb 3 hub that support PD, Ethernet and HDMI and additional ports . Mainly using this for extra usb 3 ports and for adding additional Gigabit network port.
Initially, there was an issue with ethernet not working at full gigabit speed but the seller sorted it out very quickly. Excellent after sale customer service.
Bought as a back up for when using Zwift cycling app on my phone and plugging tv hdmi cable in; works fine, allows Samsung Dex.
You need to have the correct optical output USB-C generation, it won’t allow hdmi output with anything below USB-C version 3.0.
Seems well made and solid, nice metal case.
The ethernet port is 10/100, whereas most modern devices use 10/1000 so can be slow when transferring data.
Update: After the original 2 star review I was contacted by the manufacturer who offered to send me a different unit with a 10/1000 port, I have now received this and it works as intended. Very happy with the service I’ve received.
It’s a great dock for the money, however, if you’re looking to get this for the Steam Deck, then, look elsewhere. There are issues with external hdd and even mice disconnecting.
This little gem of a dongle is perfect for what I needed for my MacBook Air as in the fact I can still charge and power it while using the dongle. I have to also use a outboard wifi utility dongle seeing as the wifi chip inside my laptop is broken. It’s a bit of pain but my local computer repair shop said it would cost 500 to fix and it was a much cheaper option to use it how I am now. All in all I’m very happy with this purchase. My last hub was 70 pounds and didn’t last too long and burnt out which was super annoying while the one before that didn’t have the power thru option which was just as frustrating and waste of money..I highly recommend this product..
I purchased this to use with my work laptop while working from home. It allowed me to connected an ethernet cable which the laptop did not have to get around poor WIFI signal in the room I use it. I also connected an HDMI cable for one of my personal monitors to give me more screen real-estate, and the traditional USB connection for my KVM. everything works as expected and it is nice to just plug in a single USB-C for all of those peripherals, especially when turning the laptop on 57 milliseconds before I am dud to start work!
The only downside was I could not plug my USB-C to DVI cable into the USB-C port. I think that port is for power over USB, or something instead. But it is a small consolation to an otherwise very good port extension device. I have had it a few months and as yet it has behaved flawlessly.
As I upgraded my Macbook Pro I needed a hub that could connect it with ethernet and also have HDMI and USB sockets. I love that this is a compact hub that has all the connection I need.
I leave it connected in my “Zoom Shed” so if I have to work online I can just plug it into my USB C on my laptop.
When I used it for the first time all the connections worked apart from the ethernet. I contacted the support via email and they got right back to me and offered to replace the product. Before taking their offer I thought I try it with my wife’s laptop and there it worked. I then plugged it into mine and suddenly everything was working as promised! So I don’t know what I did but it is all working now.
It is great value for money!!
Updated review:
The original unit did not deliver on ethernet speeds. The company got in touch after reading my initial review and send a replacement unit out straight away. The new unt certainly does give 1GB speeds as advertised. A piece of kit that is now used everyday in a tech environment.
Can’t fault the companies after sales service. I would by from them again without hesitation. Very professional and keen to sort the issue out quickly.
Original review:
The ethernet speeds are nowhere near as fast as I was led to believe. Images show the difference between this dongle and another that I used daily. As you can see, quite a difference.
I haven’t tried the other connections yet.
I tested out the adapter on a number of phones and tablets around the house. Compatibility depends on the Android firmware you are running. The usb hub worked on everything. Ethernet worked on 4 out of 5 devices (lack of included driver on the fifth). Simultaneous charge and ethernet was more patchy. Not on my Lenovo Yoga tab (where it was either one or the other depending on what you plugged in first) but success on the Samsung tab s5e and Xiaomi Note 9 pro. It also worked perfectly on devices with Lineageos. HDMI function (which requires a usb-c 3.1 connector rather than the older usb-c 2.1 connector) only worked on the Samsung Tab s5e where DEX worked fine and mirrored desktop on lineageos. Overall, highly recommended!
I used mine to connect from a Surface Go to a monitor, mouse and USB memory stick. The mouse and USB stick work flawlessly. The monitor works for a couple of hours and then the hub overheats. I have tried different monitors and old monitors misbehave quicker. I bought a different hub from a different maker and had the same problem. The Surface Go can connect to the monitor without the hub via its USB C port for hours…. so in my experience the hub is the problem. So this is a good product, it works well but appears to have a time limitation.
The item itself is pretty good. It seems well-built and mostly works. Unfortunately, the connection was really quite unstable when I plugged in a HDMI cable. I think this is probably something to do with my laptop, but bear that in mind is you are planning on using it in that way. Also, the usb c connection is not very secure. The male end wiggles around in the socket a bit.
Firstly, as usual with Amazon, first class delivery from Prime with the device arriving exactly has advertised by Prime.
I purchased this device for my son who has recently received a MacBook Pro laptop for his school education.
The lack of any sockets other than 2 USB-C sockets on the MacBook meant in order to get just the basic USB connectivity, some kind of docking device was needed. One of my conditions when purchasing this dock was that it not only had HDMI, but also Ethernet, as the location of my son’s bedroom means his WiFi coverage is not that good, therefore having an Ethernet connection is important when he is working from home.
The additional USB-C socket also provides power for his mobile phone and can double up as a power loop through for the MacBook meaning long working sessions at home will not kill the battery on the MacBook.
The setup of the device is simple and error free, simply plug it in to the MacBook, connect up any of the 5 sockets (2 x USB 3.0, 1 x HDMI, 1 x USB-C, 1 x Ethernet) and enjoy the extended connectivity provided by this very low cost device.
So far, he has not experienced any trouble connecting any of the available devices to his MacBook and performance is as expected. The next test will be when he is allowed to return to school and use the MacBook for his school work, as the dock is very lightweight, but still looking like a quality built product, carrying the device to his school would not even be noticed inside his school bag.
In summary, simple but effective device with the exact amount of connectivity I was looking for my son’s MacBook.
I would recommend anyone to try this device when considering connectivity of MacBook laptops.
The device is quite small, it’s of solid construction and has a reassuring feel.
The ports all work well and connect quickly and it seems to work well. It doesn’t heat up or have any sort of performance lag on terms of connecting devices.
I have a thin laptop with not many ports and this inconspicuous device manages to give all the port access I need without taking to much room.
Time will tell how reliable it is and if the performance deteriorates, will update.
Good value for money
