We bought a few different blackout blinds on Amazon, but this was by far the best. Super easy to cut to size, plus the suction cups and Velcro make it very easy to put up. Complete blackout. So much so, we’ve loosened the corners so it’s less unnerving when you wake up and realise how bright it is outside! Don’t bother spending thousands in a shop on fitted blinds – save your money and buy these!
A very good quality product. Comes with multiple adhesives, suction cups, a white marker pen, a cutter and a tape measure. Can cut to any shape and the sheet is quite large. I’ve even got some left over. Room is now darkened by 90%. Obviously you’ll get a tiny gap of light from the edges unless you want to glue the blind to the wall! This is a must buy for those who struggle to sleep as soon as sun rises.
Brought this as I work nights and really struggle sleeping with the light coming in, it completely blocks out all the light and my room is pitch black. Also easy to put away when not using. Would recommend!
This solved my terrible sleep in this house without shutters. My life quality improved by 1000%. I used the velcro circles and they hold really well onto the frame. If you have a window like mine, which is deep into the wall, my suggestion is to cut it larger than your window both in width and length because you can then use the extra inches to seal the light away completely. If you do like this you get pitch dark in the room, it’s perfect, no idea of what time it is, no 4am sunlight in summer, just darkness and sleep.
Everything you need is in the kit. Was easy to measure and cut. I ended up with loads of sticky pads left over so will keep them as replacements. I use it most days and it blocks out all light in my bedroom.
The MaximoLife Ultimate 100% Blackout Blind certainly lives up to its promise of providing complete darkness, ensuring a peaceful night’s sleep. However, there’s an important caveat to note—ventilation is crucial before use due to its strong odor.
Upon unpacking and installing the blackout blind, I was immediately struck by the intense odor emanating from the material. It was quite overpowering and required thorough ventilation before I could comfortably use the blind in my bedroom.
Once the initial odor dissipated, the blackout blind did an exceptional job of blocking out external light sources. It created a serene and dark environment, perfect for restful sleep.
In summary, while the MaximoLife Ultimate 100% Blackout Blind is highly effective in fulfilling its core purpose, be prepared to ventilate it before use due to its strong initial odor. Once that hurdle is overcome, it delivers on its promise of providing complete darkness for a good night’s sleep.
Not the easiest to set up had some struggles with the little scissor tool it gives you and it’s such a big sheet so you will need space when setting it up.
I did found if you have a bedroom at the part of your house where the sun hits it, it kind of absorbs the heat and makes the room sweltering in the mornings.
Does the trick mainly though but I did find there’s some little gaps so the sun does come through still. Again that could be because I struggled so much with the installation.
I love these. So easy to put up and can be removed easy with Velcro dots. Keeps the light out so I can have an extra hour in bed without the baby wakening too early
Very easy to do very effective silver oneside blackout other and velcro or suction sticks very well we needed 2 for motor home blinds the paper blinds are not easy to put back into place so these are great 2 or 300 pounds for made blinds for large motorhome so these are very good value and do a great job
This is great for blacking out the light so easy to work with and you have all you need tape measure retractable maker pen safety cutter would highly recommend this product you will not be disappointed
I was skeptical about buying these as they weren’t technically what I wanted( blind thay could roll up/down).
However, theu were highly reviewed and other had metioned decreased temperatures and potential noise cancellation.
We cut them to size and attached the command straps to them as they will be moved often.
Immediately they cool down the room and it is a noticeable difference.
They really do block out the sun and gave me such a better sleep. Cannot comment on noise cancellation but I would definitely recommend buying them.
Pictures are of window closed and then reopened.
The material is great it really is fully blackout material. Not sure if it’s something I’m doing wrong but I find they stick really well (the adhesive) but then fall off after a week or so. (That’s without even pulling the velcro off to let light in during the day. The area was also clean that it was stuck too). I didn’t have much luck with the suction cups because it would let some light through which wasn’t useful in my situation. I’ve found a way to jam it in the window frame to stop it falling down.
I recommend this product. I am not particularly dexterous, but I was able to cut the fabric and install the blackout material with relative ease.
The product really does block out the light very effectively. I found that sticking the black Velcro that attaches to the fabric onto the white ones that stick onto the window frame sped up the process. The black ones come off easily if you need to readjust.
If you need it properly dark to sleep and you don’t want to change your curtains or blinds, buy this product!
Well, they work.
Really good for blacking out your windows.
Downside I found is that while the attachment pads are good and sticky, if you live somewhere hot, they’ll melt straight off the window.
Couple problems with this, mainly that you have to cut the curtain to size so if you don’t leave some extra material at the sides, you won’t be able to reattach the curtain to the wall either side of the window, and you’ll have to be a new one.
Not to mention the big sticky streaky marks where the stickies melted their way down the window,.and not really how I’m gonna clean that yet.
These are exactly what I wanted! If you’re looking for a solution to keep your room pitch dark, look no further.
Firstly, the installation process was a breeze. The blinds came with clear instructions and all the necessary hardware. Within minutes, I had them up and ready to go. The design is sleek and modern, seamlessly blending with my existing decor.
Now, let’s talk about their light-blocking capabilities. These blinds truly deliver on their promise of blackout darkness. I was amazed at how effectively they shut out external light sources, even during the brightest parts of the day. It’s like having my own personal cave!
The material used feels durable and of high quality. I appreciate the attention to detail, as the blinds are well-stitched and constructed. They also come with an adjustable feature that allows you to control the amount of light you want to let in when desired. The mechanism works smoothly, making it effortless to customize the ambiance of my room.
In terms of functionality, these blackout blinds excel. Not only do they provide exceptional darkness, but they also help to insulate my room. I noticed a significant reduction in outside noise, creating a serene environment for relaxation or a peaceful night’s sleep.
To top it all off, the customer service from the seller was outstanding. They promptly answered my questions and were genuinely interested in ensuring my satisfaction. It’s reassuring to know that they stand behind their product.
Overall, I am incredibly pleased with these blackout blinds. They have exceeded my expectations in every aspect. If you’re in search of blackout blinds that deliver on their promises, look no further. These blinds are worth every penny and have transformed my room into a haven of tranquility. Highly recommended!
I liked the thickness of the fabric. It felt a quality product. I was impressed that it came with a fabric cutter, white pen and measuring tape. I can tell they’ve put a lot of effort and thought into making sure you’ve got all the equipment you need to do the job. The black out fabric has light grey squares on it to make the cutting easier. I tried the cutter but felt more at ease with using fabric scissors. The instructions were good. I used the hook and loop method. The stickers which are put on the window frame are white which is good as it matches my frame colour and camouflaged when I take the fabric off. The black stickers (which connect to the white ones) go onto the fabric. To make it easier, I pressed the black stickers onto the white ones so that the sticky side was facing the room, then stretched the fabric into position over the frame and pushed against the black stickers. That way, I knew the black and white stickers would line up exactly. When I needed to take off the black sticker from the fabric and reposition it, it was fine to peel off even though it was quite sticky. Only thing is, there wasn’t guidance on how to deal with the window handles. I cut around it and botched that a bit and now there’s a bit of light coming through those bits but it’s totally minimal and not a problem. Just looked a bit messy thats all.
It’s very black when I close the door and switch off the light which is what I wanted. Naturally, in hot weather you’ll want to open a window at night and then some light comes in so the product is obviously only going to block it all out when you keep the windows closed. But still, it blocks out more than if you had only black out curtains alone. I can take off the fabric during the day to let daylight back in and put back on the windows only at night if I want to.
Overall, I’m happy with the product.
The blind does a good job and is easy it cut to size and install. I wanted to get full blackout so opted for the velcro stickers.
Unfortunately, the glue on the velcro stickers placed in the window has melted in the sun and they have slidden down the window. The blind wouldn’t stay up anymore as glue was very compromised.
The pack comes with some spares so I replaced them but I am expecting it to happen again.
We have had a relatively hot few weeks in the UK though I suppose!
After being quoted silly money for my conservatory roof, all I wanted to do was block light I got these and they make a huge difference, however the suckers don’t work on a hot roof obviously so I’ve got some good quality Velcro and it’s changed the way I use this room
As soon as it gets light my Husky insists it’s time to get up so I’m always extra tired in the summer but this morning was 6am and I went back to sleep until 7am which I normally can’t do as it’s too light.
1st pic shows one window with and one without and 2nd pic with both.
So easy to put up and loads of material left so doing my windows in my other bedroom.
I didn’t use the tape measure (handy for future projects) just put it up against the window and used the white marker. Loved the cutter and when finished will put in my car for my seatbelt in case of accident.
I used the hook n loop, very sticky. Not sure how the suction cups would work as they are quite deep so they must let in light?
Worth every penny!
I have been using this for a few weeks now as my rental does not have curtains or blinds in the bedroom. They are easy to cut and install and overall do a great job at blocking light.
However, the white velcros are already falling off and are difficult to re-stick, so having extra ones in the pack would be great. I will try using Command tapes instead, see how it works until I can figure out a more permanent solution.
A very well presented kit with suction cups and Velcro pads. Could do with more Velcro area on suckers. Tricky to judge we’re to put Velcro on material to correspond to suckers. Over all happy but I would say. Cut it bigger than needed by 1cm each way.
Liked: Really impressed that it came complete with marker pen, tape measure, fabric cutter, lots of pads and suction cups and there are grid lines on the fabric. Fabric light weight and very large. Easy to fit.
Disappointed with the self adhesive pads for the window frame don’t stick well even after cleaning the PVC frame and leaving the pad to ‘cure’ for 12 hours as recommended. However this may be the frame or the way I’m using it. Don’t let it put you off as overall the product is great quality.
I bought the old version of this product, though the material was thinner and stayed up, i developed an issue with black mold and after sorting that I felt I needed a new one, the one I had was perfect so I just reordered.
Only to find the kit has been upgraded. The material is still lightweight but feels slightly thicker, this is good because I can guarantee no light is getting through this stuff.
It has squares on the black side 1cm by 1cm to help you measure, a white removable marker to mark your position, a cutter if you don’t want to use scissors, and a measuring tape! None of that came with the last kit.
The suction cups work pretty well but I personally prefer to use Velcro on the window frame as that gives the most blackout you’ll get.
My only complaint is that it can be difficult to get the Velcro to stick, and I’ve resorted to some pretty mad ways of making it. It takes some fiddling to get right, so I’ll take half a star off for that.
Overall this is the complete kit, you don’t need anything else at all and I’m only here because I’ve got another window that needs blacking out, so I’m here to order another.
Do watch out for mold on the walls or window if the area you’re covering is damp, regular cleaning and normal mold treatments work on that, but it can affect the blind and that’s not good, but also no one else’s fault but mine.
Buy without hesitation you may need something extra for the Velcro tabs but – you’ll be happy with the results. Pitch black in my room at 12pm. Perfect for me, as I frequently complain about how it gets light so early in summer, and that wakes me up at nearly 3 in the morning at its peak! I love this product, it’s given me a lot of good nights sleep.
4.5/5 – only improvement I can think of is, improve the adhesive of the Velcro.
Thanks!!
Ok so the headline is pretty dramatic but it’s technically true. We have a huge glass door taking up the entire back wall of our living room. In the evening – the time you’d generally be sitting down to watch TV – the sun is blaring straight in. It’s nearly impossible to sit in the living room at that time of day unless you’re looking to gradually bake yourself to a crisp and/or go blind. We don’t want to put up window coverings as that’s not the look we’re going for. Enter this amazingly simple product. You get everything you need in the package. They seem to have thought of everything. You make out the area to cut with the included marker, cut with the included cutter (along the helpful grid lines), attach the velcro and suction fittings, stick it in place and BAM! Sun shade! Does it look weird to have a black square in the middle of our big glass window? Yes. But it’s only there for maybe 2 hours. Then it easily comes down, is folded up, and put in a drawer. And you get LOADS of fabric. This is a game changer. If you need to block some sun, this is the job!
What you get is a big sheet of plastic that is silvered on one side and black (with a grid pattern to help when you cut it) on the other. You also get a tape measure, safety cutter, white marker pen, velcro pads and suction cups.
This is a cut to fit product so you can cut it to exactly the size and shape(s) you need…hence the tape measure, marker and safety cutter. The grid pattern really helps with this as well.
Personally I used the velcro pads to attach to the window frame for a better flush fit. If your window frames are small this might not be an option but worked perfectly for mine. My PVC window had 2 panes of glass (one which can be opened) since this is a cut to fit (with loads of velcro pads) each pane has it’s own cover which is cut to the exact size. Why is this good but not perfect? There is a small amount of light leakage around the edge of the cover (in my case anyway)…this could be remedied with a roll of the thin velcro tape all around the perimeter of the cover. With a bit of work I think I could eliminate almost all the light but in all honesty it’s good enough as is.
This also means I can easily take the covers down (leaving frame velcro pads in place) when I don’t need them (or need to clean the windows).
I can’t comment on the suction cup method to attach it to the glass as I didn’t even attempt this. I couldn’t see how this would be anywhere near as good as the velcro so didn’t bother.
The result for me has been very good, the light level in the room even on a very bright sunny day is extremely low (the cover is in addition to a blind and curtains) and I have no problem sleeping in the day (night worker).
On two occasions one of the velcro pads has detached from the window frame but this was on a very warm day and the frame had heated up considerably….didn’t replace them just stuck the same pads back to the frame. Only been using this for about 4 months so a hot summer may mean more velcro pad failure….that velcro tape might be a better option in that case.
