I used to have a surface go, many moons ago and I kind of struggle with Microsoft because its just not got the apps I want on the store. However, I am using Word at the moment a lot so I wanted something much more portable. I seriously cannot comment on the spec’s as I have no idea! I just wanted to use Word, Kindle, Amazon Music and a handful of other apps and be able to take it wo work so it needed to be compact and user friendly. Honestly I am really blown away by this machine! The screen is bright and the battery isn’t too bad, I can get a good 5 hours of use out of it with continuous writing. I really love it and it was under 500! I Returned a Lenovo because it just didn’t work for me. My only gripe is having to buy a slimmer pen at 60 and take a mortgage out for the 150 keyboard! Seriously Microsoft?!!! But that to one side I really love it! Much more User friendly and watching videos and playing music is great!
I was really surprised with how much I love the Pro X. After watching a lot of reviews I was worried that I had made a mistake purchasing but that wasn’t the case. It’s lightweight, with a lovely screen and great battery life.
It’s important to know the limitations of Windows on ARM (which aren’t as restricting with Windows 11 but are still important to understand) but it’s a really useful device to have in addition to my main laptop. I treat it almost like a Chromebook, it’s for some quick work, watching videos, and maybe a video meeting or 2 but it’s by no means a gaming powerhouse.
I think the thing that I really appreciate is that’s it’s absolutely silent so there’s no distracting fan noise when working, and is definitely appreciated when out and about too. I did also purchase the type cover as I do think it needs that to really shine but it’s become my go to device to grab. Also the upgradeable SSD is appreciated particularly since Microsoft sell the replacements directly in the UK so you’re not stuck with the 128gb of storage if you need more.
It’s a bit of an odd device if I’m honest, but if you want something light, portable and premium feeling with Windows for light work it makes a compelling case for itself, enough so that I barely ever reach for my actual laptop anymore because this does 95% of what I need my device to do.
great screen – great sound – handles Civ6 nicely. limited performance with digital art apps like sketchable etc but bang for buck, this is great.
