These are ok, only used a few times the plates don’t really close totally but that’s it such a bad thing because it doesn’t rip your hair. Reviews were good so I purchased these couldn’t afford GHFs these make my hair feel smooth, straight and not frizzy.
I bought these to replace some straighteners that had given up working. Don’t use them more than 2 or 3 times a month so didn’t want to spend too much, especially as I paid quite a lot for my previous ones (different brand) that only lasted about 18 months.
Whilst they are not as good as my others (when they worked!) – I have to spend longer on my hair than before- they heat up quickly and do what they are supposed to do.
All in all, good value for money.
I’m an ex hairdresser and have only ever used GHDs, when they packed in decided to try these just to see. They have just arrived and I’ve tried them, I honestly I think they are better than my old GHDs. Super smooth really fast to heat up. Great at both straightening and curling. I’d recommend!
I have had Remington straighteners for years now and always highly rated them for the price and quality. Although these work ok, there’s something about them that isn’t as ergonomically designed as well as others have been. The plates seem to move to the side when clasped together, rather than meeting flush. They don’t seem to make as light work of the hair as others I’ve owned previously.
I have always used cloud 9 or GHD straighteners. These are better than my GHD’s and I wouldn’t be without them. Also at 20 delivered you can’t really beat them. They are quick to heat up. The display is easy to read and they make my hair look like it did when I was a young woman. I will add some photos to this review
I have owned these now for 2 months and fell in love with them straight away, no tugging, slides down my thick long hair with ease . I used to own Cloud 9 for a few years which as we all know are expensive but these Remington are on par! … The only thing I will say is that they gave off a tcp kind of smell for about 3 weeks but then went… Not an issue though as I love these so much, especially for the price… I can now do my hair in much quicker time too. I would highly recommend these.
My GHD’s ceased functioning just before Xmas so I ordered these arrived next day and I am so pleased with them, much safer to turn off and on with The button on the side, you can see the temperature clearly, plates are smooth no snagging, great swivel in the cord which is long, plus they have a lock feature in them too so makes a great extra safety plus
The ceramic heating pads are very god and don’t pull or catch your hair, the time to warm up is fast .
they also have a push button/hinge to lock the tongs from opening during storage.
They came with an extra year guarantee which i found at the bottom of the information leaflet so i added that by logging into the website as directed on leaflet .
for the price this is a bargain id highly recommend.
They are good for the price. They take a bit longer to heat up than my previous straighteners but still quick. They do feel a bit cheap and are lightweight. Leaves my hair glossy and no tugging. The plates do not fit as together really tightly but they do straighten my curly hair.
These are the BEST straighteners I have ever used in over 10 years.
I nearly bought my first pair of GHDs, but an unexpected bill cam along and I had to settle for these. Turns out it was not settling at all. At 190 degrees they go through my (thick, wavy) hair like a hot knife through butter, and turn it silky straight the first time around. I don’t have to sit there repeat straightening, frazzling the ends under the heat. Just a simple stroke through and my hair looks sleek and lovely. It saves SO much time.
I adore these. If you are charmed by GHD’s reputation but don’t have the money I wholeheartedly recommend these. Love them to bits.
These straighteners are far better than GHD’s. Smooth plates and very quick to style your hair. The blue lights stops flashing when they are up to temperature which does not take long at all. That said if you increase to the max heat of 230 it does take much longer, around 1 minute. The standard temp they turn on at is 190. The lock button works well and makes storage much simpler, however the case is just that – a case. Too small really to be used as a heat mat as well to avoid burning surfaces whilst styling hair.The cord is ample long enough, I went away the other weekend and the nearest plug was a good 2 meters away from the mirror and the cable was long enough to reach. Overall a great item at a really great price
My old Remington straighteners had finally given up the ghost and my husband offered to buy new ones for Christmas, no expense spared!! I read all the reviews on the straighteners costing 100 and more but decided to give these a try as my others had been brilliant and lasting 8 years or so. I am not disappointed! These are brilliant straighteners, the wide heat pads mean I can straighten my hair in 10 minutes, the adjustable temperature is great because although I have a lot of hair it’s quite fine and delicate and I don’t like to use irons that are too hot. I’ve had these straighteners almost a year now and I can’t fault them. The price is amazing for such good quality. I’d highly recommend them.
Update: 4 years later and this straightener is still alive and working well. I use it to curl and straighten my hair (and even to iron a shirt, once!). It doesn’t seem to be going anywhere despite some light staining on the blades because of product build up that’s burned.
They also keep my hair straight for the entire day and night, which is something I’ve never had before as my hair used to go curly again within about ten minutes with the old pair! For reference, the old pair are made by a company which sounds like a very young child with four letters on the end!
I also find my new straightener’s are easy to transport with the handy pouch and have a very long cord, which is good if your mirror and plug socket aren’t that close to one another!
My only wish is that they did them in a cordless, rechargeable version too, which would be great for straightening my hair after swimming! :o)
