Finding the remote Alexa difficult always does the wrong thing. However everything else fine, picture ease of use. Daughter in law set it up for me as had several things to add dvd, ear phones, recording box and did not take her long.
I’ve had an old TV, which was still working fine, but decided to treat myself with an upgrade
Decided on a Samsung, because everyone rates these TV very highly.
Had it for about three weeks now, still a lot to learn, so unable to give you a comprehensive review, but so far very impressed, only little niggle is the main remote control which is quite fiddley
I have had an LG 4K TV before and was expecting to be blown away by a supposedly better competitor in Samsung but was a bit underwhelmed by CU8000. Pictures were not looking as good as on my old LG and was most noticable with upscaled low res content. With all the review hype, I expected better. There is also a little gap in the frame at the bottom right which I hope will not grow larger and cause problems later on.
Brilliant value for what you get. Has been great in the front room no complaints from my family at all. The menus and remote are a little slow compared to a proper TV box but not frustrating. Loads of apps available with all the major services and free ones. If you are a TV snob who obsesses about the minutiae of colour balance and boring things like that then this might not be for you, I don’t know. For unbothered people like us this is totally fine for the front room and even for snobs this might be good as a secondary telly in another less-used room.
Just upgraded to this 55 inch cu 8000 model. Easy to set up and picture quality is excellent. Looks great in our living room. Sound could be a little better so a Sound bar maybe a good addition. Just one thing to bear in mind samsung offer a 5 year warranty but after a long conversation with them they don’t off it if you buy from amazon. So that’s a negative. Seems odd that if you buy from a small seller you are eligible for samsung 5 year warranty but if you buy via amazon you can’t have the extended warranty.
Lots of reviews say this tv is useless in a light room. Ok yes it doesn’t stand out as well as an OLED perhaps but it does very well. Samsung software does the job albeit can be a bit glitchy at times (this is even the case on my OLED LG tv) TV software just isn’t all that responsive I find.
For the price I’m happily impressed. The Samsung streaming TV service (which appears to be free) is great! Real surprise, loads of free kids tv stuff.
Had it for about 2 months and happy with the purchase. Don’t let some of the negi comments here put you off. This might not be a great “main” tv for a home but as secondary one it’s great. Samsung rarely go wrong these days, this is another good example of a fair prices product.
I think the tv is brilliant I have no dislikes at all about the tv but when it came the one of the remote controls didn’t work at all which wasn’t good considering it was a brand new tv apart from that it is fine
Bought after researching alternatives and had mid expectations as this is Samsungs entry point to 4k. Have been thoroughly impressed.
Only real complaint is the stand didn’t feel the sturdiest when clicked in but TV has held up fine.
Importantly, the actual screen is fab. The 4k quality is incredible for this price point- with good colours and minimal bleed. The HDR is meh but as it’s only HDR10 you can’t expect much and for HDR10 it’s nice with deep blacks and clear whites.
The speakers are perfectly ample for a small room but may be drowned out in a larger space. The UI is good and intuitive, AirPlay 2 supports 4k and works well which was a huge plus for us. Automatically recognises HDMI devices so no need to remember which is which is surprisingly handy. The remote is solar and USB-C which is also very convenient. Only had a week but very pleasantly surprised so far. Would 100% recommend.
Got this tv for the bedroom and it’s really nice, great image quality for the price, comes with two remotes which is a nice touch.
The home menu is a little cluttered and clunky, I did briefly try the gaming function on there but found the latency too high for a good experience (possibly our internet rather than the tv itself, not sure)
Otherwise very happy with it.
We bought this Samsung tv after taking advice from our son who has always bought Samsung models. A clear, clean picture with decent sound quality. We have this tv connected to a Sky box so mostly watch through Sky’s basic package. We’d buy again in the future if necessary.
I found the tv to be above n beyond what I had ordered. So much choice ,options to add other devices. Easy to navigate and install. Works with Alexa and have bought a Bluetooth game controller to play the free arcade style games. Have also add my xbox details. There is a web browser. Am honestly over the moon with the 65″ Samsung TV.
Am still exploring, added other free channels which are child friendly and educational. Perfect choice for anyone, good value, slim line, good amount of usb and hdmi ports.
Let’s start this review off with the positives. The screen quality of this TV is simply amazing. The UHD Crystal 4K display delivers vibrant colours, sharp details, and excellent contrast. Whether you’re watching movies, playing games, or streaming content, the visuals truly come to life on this large 55-inch screen. The size of the TV itself is also perfect, providing an immersive viewing experience.
In terms of pricing, the Samsung BU8000 offers good value for its features and specifications. It provides a solid 4K viewing experience at a competitive price point, making it an attractive option buyers.
Connectivity options on this TV are robust, allowing you to easily connect various external devices such as gaming consoles, Blu-ray players, or streaming devices. With multiple HDMI ports and USB ports, you can effortlessly expand your entertainment options and enjoy a seamless multimedia experience.
One standout feature of the BU8000 is its impressive processing capabilities. The TV’s processor can enhance the fluidity of content, even converting lower frame rate videos into smoother motion, converting content to a higher frame rate. This can be especially beneficial for content with lower frame rates, as it minimizes motion blur and provides a more enjoyable viewing experience.
Unfortunately, one major let-down of the BU8000 is its software. The TV’s operating system feels sluggish and tends to slow down significantly after just a few weeks of use. It’s frustrating to experience delays and unresponsiveness while navigating menus and switching between apps. This sluggishness is exacerbated by the presence of annoying ads on the home screen, which can be quite distracting and disrupt the overall user experience.
Another issue I encountered with this TV is occasional hang-ups and unresponsiveness, where the TV would freeze for a few minutes or fail to respond to remote commands. These glitches can be frustrating and disrupt your viewing or streaming sessions.
Regarding audio, the built-in speakers are decent, but they lack the depth and richness that many enthusiasts crave. I would highly recommend investing in a soundbar or external audio system to truly enhance your audio experience. While the speakers get the job done, they don’t quite match the exceptional visual quality of the screen.
On a positive note, the inclusion of a solar remote is a thoughtful addition. It allows you to charge the remote using solar power, reducing the need for frequent battery changes.
In summary, the Samsung 55 Inch BU8000 UHD Crystal 4K Smart TV offers an exceptional screen quality and a suitable size for immersive viewing. The pricing is competitive, and the connectivity options are plentiful. The processing capabilities are commendable, as it can enhance the fluidity of lower frame rate content. However, it is let down by the subpar software performance, sluggishness, intrusive ads, and occasional hang-ups. Along with that, there is MAJOR backlight bleed on black screens. While the built-in speakers are decent, investing in a soundbar is recommended for a more immersive audio experience.
I wanted a good quality TV at a reasonable cost which was not too heavy so my wife and I could easily carry it up to our attic. This 50 in TV at 418 does the job. It has a great picture. After all the bad reviews about the sound quality I was pleased to find the sound was to my ears very good. I can also listen to it via Apple AirPods. The supplied remote is ok but a little fiddly. I use the TV with SKY Q which works fine except some of the features such as volume control do not work with SKY remote and so for example the Samsung remote must used for volume control.
