First off the packaging is very well put together and unboxing was a treat. The monitor itself is absolutely essential if you’re wanting a minimalist setup without sacrificing on features. Speaking of features calling this product a monitor doesn’t at all do it justice since it’s all a full blown TV experience too. The monitor itself runs on Samsungs own Tizen OS which not only looks sleek but also ties in the whole experience perfectly.

(I WOULD ALSO HIGHLY RECOMMEND PAIRING THIS WITH GOVEE LIGHTS AND AN ALEXA)

    Starting with the positives.
    1. From testing this monitor actually reaches OVER a the quoted 400 nit brightness while also managing to retain extremely solid black levels. The viewing angles are also insanely good for a TN panel.

    2. The response time of this monitor is LESS than my Huawei Mateview 165hz Ultrawide which is literally aimed at gaming. Couple this with the inbuilt xbox game streaming app you get the console-tv gaming experience without a console or a TV provided you have a good internet connection.

    3. The design aesthetic of this monitor has to be my favourite part of the whole package. I love a simplistic and minimalist setup and this monitor is absolutely ESSENTIAL for this. The only other monitors I could find that rival the design of this monitor are significantly more expensive in most cases double the cost!

    4. Just incase this package already wasn’t good enough value for money this monitor also comes with a full on magnetic webcam that actually outperforms the webcam on my M1 Max MacBook. This is definitely a solid enough webcam to actually stream on if you’re on a budget!

    5. Samsung’s Tizen OS + Smart Remote combination basically makes this a multitasking machine. Also being an open university student I greatly appreciate the ability to watch netflix and work on my assignments at the same time without having to actually have any sort of computer or laptop plugged in.

    6. For those of you reading this review for notes on colour accuracy although the monitor quotes 98% SRGB coverage and 97% Display P3 after testing I can confirm it does in-fact have 100% coverage of BOTH and with the 400+ nit peak brightness you can do light professional colour work and definitely edit video on this monitor. Display is comparable to my MacBook screen minus the higher refresh rate and 100% viewing angles of course.

Okay time for the negatives of which there are few.

    1. The physical build quality is not bad by any stretch but if this was an all aluminium design it would be absolutely perfect.

    2. My only main big complaint is that the services of not up to par for the price in the slightest. For the price of the monitor I’d expect much better let’s see what the next generation brings.

    3. The 60hz refresh rate on this monitor is good however for 500+ Id expect 75hz minimum considering it’s marketed as a computer monitor. This product would be unstoppable if it came with even a 90hz panel.

    4. The final gripe I have with this monitor is the lack of ports (there are only two usb c ports and one mini hdmi) a full size display/hdmi port or optical/3.5mm jack wouldn’t go a miss especially for those that have sound systems they would like to connect.

All in all for the price it is a good purchase however if I could value this monitor myself I’d put it at 390-400 due to the speakers and 60hz refresh rate.

I hope in future they make an even more premium version of this display with a QLED panel and proper professional colour accuracy with full HDR capabilities and better speakers because I’d be happy to pay the price!

5.0 out of 5 stars Don't even hesitate! By far the best monitor I've owned to date!

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI bought this to work with a new Mac Mini Pro, replacing my 10 year old iMac. The 4K display is not only larger but much clearer due to the higher resolution. I don’t do work that requires an accurate colour balance, so can only say that the colours and picture look good to me. The fast refresh rate and low latency avoids flicker.

Physically, the until is attractive, with a much thinner screen than might be expected. The built in stand works well and is easy to use for both tilt and height adjustment. It comes with cables for mains power, USB-C and HMDI connections. The sockets themselves are slightly awkward to reach, behind the stand bracket, so not something you’ve want to be changing every day, but once setup they are quite discreet.

Although I thought I might use some of the TV features, I really only use this as a monitor, and would only stream from the computer, so these factors are wasted. I don’t use the remote.

Connect the unit using the USB-C cable and turn off the deep-sleep power saving mode. This means the screen wakes up when pressing any key on the keyboard or mouse. It does take at least 5 seconds or more to do so, not nearly as responsive as the old iMac. The Mac immediately found the videocam and used it for Zoom calls, but using the sound required a manual selection. There is a magnetic privacy screen which is convenient to use. The camera height is well above the screen and doesn’t tilt independently of the screen itself, so you either get a view of the top of you head or have to adjust the whole screen. This was the case for the iMac, but somehow that was already tilted by default to look in the right place. The documentation talks about some ability to track and follow the person speaking, but I couldn’t figure out how to enable that. The sound level on the monitor cannot be controlled from the Mac keyboard as was the case with the iMac. I often use Airpods when on calls and watching videos in order not to disturb others, and in this case the volume can be controlled from the keyboard.

The built in microphone needs the mic mute switch underneath the bottom right hand side to be switched off. It’s awkward, difficult to find and very small so harder to use. I just leave it on.

Some have commented on the quality of the speakers and microphone. I would say they are adequate for a computer monitor, just not as good for cinematic productions. I don’t plan to buy any additional ones.

I initially did consider sending the unit back but decided I could live with it. The image quality and resolution are good, and the unit aesthetics look good. I’m still slightly disappointed at the slow wake-up from sleep, the lack of volume control from the Mac keyboard and the camera viewing angle, but these aren’t show stoppers. Having bought other Samsung products, I am confident it will have a long life.

I was a little concerned the monitor may not be the M8 that was advertised as the description says “M7” in some parts and M8 in others and one of the review photos shows a different monitor but it was correct!

Came fully sealed with all protective seals and packaging intact. Came with external webcam, USB-C cable, remote with batteries, power cables etc. Super good quality product to use as an external monitor for my laptop 🙂

Super quick dispatch and sign for delivery too!

5.0 out of 5 stars Exactly as described!

Perfect monitor all round. I was first sad as I couldn’t download Crunchyroll on it, luckily I had a fire stick. I plugged it in and I could control it with the same remote for the monitor effortlessly

I got this to give myself a bit more room for multitasking at work, it’s great I am not sure the resolution is as high as my previous monitor so things are a little larger, that aside it works great you can stream from your phone or tablet to it easily and it has Samsung tv built in so you can watch that for free. You can also link Netflix Disney etc or browse the internet and use you phone to type – it’s been really useful and very good value. Pc games look great on it.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersEasy to set up, bought for my son who is very pleased with this TV. He does a lot of gaming and its good for that. Only downside is there was no charger for the remote control.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersLove this TV I have put it in my bedroom, picture quality is amazing. Going to connect laptop to see how that works. Only draw back is the sound it’s very tinny.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersVery happy overall. Took a while to get all the settings where l wanted them but all good now. Not really played with the TV/multimedia features so can’t pass comment. Powers my M1 Pro MacBook Pro in Clam shell mode via the USB-c port on rear + a usb Hub, from the other usb-c port on the rear, for Keyboard and any other bits used on a regular basis. Camera and mic work well, I used it for an online training day ( 9hours ) no problems. Needs a sturdy desk to live on as the screen can be a little wobbly, but once in position it’s fine. Remote works just fine and easy to charge.

Compared to the quality, the features and the price… It’s still good compared to many other screens and everyone has their own opinion now what is certain is that at the level of connectivity behind it is annoying!! Micro hdmi with 2 usb type c… Ok you tell yourself I’m going to put adapters in some cases and go there that’s why it’s so narrow back!! It’s just badly designed.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersNow, I know this is going to annoy some people, but when I bought it, it was an amazing deal of just 159!! Don’t know how that happened, but just glad that I spotted it as it quickly sold out.

Anyway, the monitor itself is very good. The image quality is great – maybe a little dull, but the colour reproduction is pretty accurate. The speakers are mediocre, so that’s a bit of a disappointment, and the Samsung OS is pretty dreadful, but for that price who cares!!

Over all, even at full price, it’s a great monitor.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersHaving the smart features and lots of other extras like Bluetooth/wireless connectivity was great. The only downside would be that no support for DisplayPort. Only has Thunderbolt USB-C and HDMI. I use it with my MacBook works perfectly.
