My son really wanted this game and really enjoyed completing it. I do think it was quite pricey considering it’s not something he picks up on a regular basis once completed (I also can’t tell the difference between Splatoon 2 and Splatoon 3) but he thought it was awesome 😀

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersSplatoon 3 is the latest installment in the popular Splatoon series, developed by Nintendo. The game retains the same core gameplay mechanics as its predecessors, with players taking control of squid-like creatures called Inklings and engaging in team-based battles against other players online.

One of the most significant changes in Splatoon 3 is the introduction of new weapons and abilities, including a new bow weapon that allows players to shoot arrows of ink and a grappling hook that lets players zip around the map. Additionally, the game features a new mode called “Salmon Run,” which tasks players with collecting eggs from salmon and defending themselves against waves of enemies.

Another major addition to Splatoon 3 is the new “Splatlands” region, a post-apocalyptic wasteland that serves as the game’s primary setting. The environment is much more detailed and expansive than in previous games, featuring a variety of new landmarks, hazards, and interactive elements.

Visually, Splatoon 3 looks stunning, with bright, colorful graphics that pop off the screen. The character designs are also inventive and charming, with a wide variety of customization options available for players to make their Inklings unique.

If you’re a fan of fast-paced, team-based shooters, Splatoon 3 is definitely worth checking out.

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersI have been a fan of original Splatoon from the Wii U days (that I think was criminally under-rated). It was such a great game you wonder why nobody else came up with such a concept before.

I did not think Splatoon 2 was a lot different, like MK8 Nintendo could have just ported Splatoon 1 to the Switch and still be a success, but the single-player campaign and DLC did bring decent improvement to make it worth it. In any case, if you wanted to play on Switch there was no other choice anyway – so 5+ stars!

Splatoon 3 again does not seem me to bring enough freshness and I do hate that we’re splitting the player base. I see it as a slightly different play mode which could have been as an option. Bringing the old maps from the original (like MK8) to play on is not bad as they were (are?) still good but seems a bit cheap.

If anything I personally wanted even more flexibility, e.g. 1 vs 1, duo vs duo, trio vs trio, etc. or even “free for all” mode with each player for themselves – after all there are enough colours and space on most maps. Maybe restrict weapons in some modes, e.g. only “rollers”, only “brushes” or maybe “random weapon” to make it more fun?

Overall I almost think this could be a (bigger) DLC for Splatoon 2 but I can see how that would not bring the same amount of sales as a new game.

If you’re a fan of Splatoon then I guess you will get it – but may find yourself playing 2 more than 3…

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersThe splatoon series has been a favourite of mine since 2015 when the first game released on Wii U, and Im shocked we’re here at the third game already! If you’d played splatoon 2 and got a little bored after a while, this might be what you need to get a refreshing experience!
The gameplay is largely the same, but every rough edge in the previous games has largely been polished off! The gameplay feels more responsive, the weapon balance is alot more fair, and the story mode is incredibly fun!

The singleplayer can be a bit hit or miss for some, as its story itself is alot more “style over substance” than perhaps the Octo Expansion DLC in Splatoon 2, but the levels themselves are fun and creative in the ways they use the games mechanics! Anyone whos been a fan of the series for a while will love the lore revealed in the Alterna Logs, and if you just want to feel cool the ending will do that for you.

The only other problem is that you may disconnect from games quite frequently depending on your connection. My internet seems fine, but every so often I may see a player drop out of the match or I might get stuck in matchmaking for too long, its not a dealbreaker for me, but some people have had a bit of a rough time.

I bought the game again for my younger brother, because he’s been enjoying playing on my copy, but because theres no single screen multiplayer he needs another copy to be able to play together with him. I wont be able to give it to him until christmas, but playing this game with friends and family is always a blast, and theres a wonderful community online!

If you have played Splatoon before then you will know what to expect.
To be honest there is not a lot difference to me and don’t really see the rush to upgrade from Splatoon 2 to 3!
If you haven’t played a Splatoon game before, highly recommend and you will love it!
A multiplayer shooter but done in a Nintendo way so you don’t really die like a cod/fortnite, you get splatted!
Drop a star due to it being very similar to the previous one but still love it!

Splatoon 3 is very good but doesn’t add much to the formula. There’s some good quality of life changes, such as the abilty to change weapon between rounds.

I’ve enjoyed it so far but put it down after 10 hours or so. Will return when there are Splatfests (live setvice events) on, which is once a month.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersAs someone who loved the Splatoon 2 so much that they bought a wii u to experience the 1st game, I can confirm that this is the best game in every degree possible, the graphics are way better (even though on the same console as 2) than the last 2 games. The story mode is so much better than the last 2, and the multiplayer is way better with more balanced weapons, special weapons, and bombs! And if your someone who played the past games you will know you can’t skip the news but now you can with the text and stages appearing in the top left corner! If your someone thinking of buying Splatoon 3, but don’t know if you should as you already have one of the first 2 or someone who’s thinking of getting their first Splatoon, I say strongly do! With loads more customisation and way better gameplay, this game is a great game to buy that will bring you hours of fun!
