I’ve been using this chainsaw now for about a month as an addition to my normal petrol saws. It is lightweight and I am surprised at just how good it is. The charge lasts far longer than I would have thought. Ideal for branch removal, on the ground or in the canopy. For the price it is exceptional. I wouldn’t use it on a lot of big work, but hey horses for courses, its a great bit of kit.

No problem for 6inch logs, battery duration is good, takes a while to charge (4.5hrs), a gap at the bottom is a slight safety concern, but you shouldn’t be putting you had there anyway!

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersNeeded a chainsaw quickly and got this on next day delivery very happy with it. Very lightweight but pretty solid heavy construction it’s not cheaply plastic – battery run times awesome we used this for at least2 hrs on and off and it was still going strong. Cuts through wood smoothly as you can see on this stump in my video. Doesn’t come with chainsaw oil but we had a bottle from the last one which wouldn’t start hun-ence panic buying this but we feel it’s better than our old one due to the fact it’s lighter in weight so will over all be more comfortable to use when we have to go up our big tree and start using it over our heads. You can adjust the chain tension dead easy with a little catch and no tools required! Bonus, , took a few mins to assemble and pop the chain on. Sounds a bit less aggressive than our old one too which was appreciated as we have neighbours and we like to be considerate. So over all…not noisy, cuts through wood very nicely, adjustable without tools, battery lasts ages. Easy to charge, very happy going to use this a lot as landscaping a large garden. Cheers and appreciated the next day delivery too! Lifesaver.

5.0 out of 5 stars Lightweight, great battery power, cuts really well. Ideal.

This seems the ideal unit for relatively small jobs around the garden and in my case not something that I’ll be using too regularly, the instruction book has some good points about storage. I notice at the top of the Amazon page that it can be bought minus the charger as Swift make other products that all take the same size battery. I found it a bit fiddly to put together for the first time though the instruction book (with illustrations) explained it quite well. Worth mentioning that it doesn’t come with any chain oil so I bought a bottle of Oregon oil (Amazon 6.95).

So far I’ve used it a couple of times on tree branches around two or two and a half inches thick and the chainsaw cut as expected. With the first use, I didn’t notice any reduction in the cutting speed but as it’s battery-powered this will be noticeable eventually, the instruction book says around thirty minutes use before recharge. After each use, I’ll automatically recharge the battery. Another reviewer suggests checking the chain tension regularly after a few cuts, I would certainly agree with that. I thought the weight of the saw in use was fine holding the handlebar and rear handle.

I’ve found the Swift ideal for my occasional garden use, it’s essentially plastic and obviously wouldn’t last anytime for those who use a chainsaw professionally. I thought the instruction book with its ton of safety information a worthwhile read, gloves and eye protection are a must with this sort of equipment.

This is a really handy and non-intimidating chainsaw that is very useful normal people who need to maintain trees or cut up logs, it is perfect for small jobs and I think in a pinch it would cut down a large tree but I don’t think that is what it is really intended for.

    – Lightweight
    – Easy to use
    – Safety mechanisms
    – Cuts well
    – A bit of a pain to set up

I was not expecting this to arrive fully assembled ready to use but putting the attaching the blade and the chain to the main body of this was a real pain and the main body and the adjustment mechanisms all being plastic made it feel like it could break as I was tightening up the chain. Once set up though it feels pretty nice to hold and use, it is very light, it is the first battery powered chainsaw I have held or used and it is so much lighter and more manageable than the petrol ones I have used in the past.

The saw is not very powerful but for small branches or logs it is plenty strong enough, and does a good job of it. The weight and more direct power you get from the electric motor is a little strange at first but once you get used to it it is really not to be fought against or controlled, it is very manageable. It does also have the two chain brakes for safety which is nice and helps confidence when getting started with it.

    Pros :
    – Lightweight
    – Easy to use
    – Safety mechanisms
    – Cuts well

    Cons :
    – A bit of a pain to set up

This is a neat, lightweight useful chainsaw.

It wont help you chop down a tree.
But it will help with any pruning of bushes etc.

I found it lightweight to use, and really a breeze for my garden jobs.

It is great not having any trailing cables.

Keep the battery well charged and this chainsaw will be a blessing for you.

Take care. This is not a toy.
Treat it right and it will repay over and over again.

    Great item

The chainsaw was very easy to assemble together with minimal fuss or effort and after pre-charging the battery to the 100% mark I was ready to go! (You may need oil though as it doesn’t come with any). The overall build quality seems good, it’s quite sturdy and seems like it could take on tougher challenges than what I’ve put it through so far. Being battery operated I didn’t expect much from this cordless chainsaw but I’m surprised at how effortlessly it cut back the neglected trees at the back of my garden! It also comes with a 24 month warranty should anything ever go wrong, perfect for peace of mind! Another good thing is as its battery powered, the SWIFT battery can also be used in SWIFT’s other cordless products if you have any. Im pleased with this chainsaw and it will help make my garden maintenance much easier, hopefully this review has been of some help in your decision on the product!

This is a reasonably good small chainsaw. The blade is about 12 inches and once assembled & charged, I set about cutting up some small branches (2-3inch diameter) in the garden.
It makes fairly easy work of the thinner branches, but I suspect it would struggle with anything much thicker than this. I do like the instant power (and instant ‘off’ nature) that comes from it being electric. It’s lower maintenance than a petrol saw, and certainly quicker on and off. But with that convenience comes the downside of reduced cutting power.

It is lightweight and easily portable, which is a plus. I’m definitely becoming a fan of these smaller battery operated saws, for lighter jobs. But as with anything, you need to get the right piece of kit for the job. This is fine for smaller jobs, but would struggle I think on even a small whole tree.

In terms of performance, in my experience it’s as good as my Ryobi ONE+ cordless chainsaw (and slightly cheaper from memory). [And I say that as someone with a garage wall full of Ryobi ONE+ kit !!]

Certainly happy to recommend, but be sure it’s the right piece of kit for your job.

A chainsaw is not something I use all that often so I’m in no way an expert. However this nice little chainsaw comes well packaged and needs a little straightforward assembly before use. In use it is fairly light and easy to handle and has the safety features you would expect. It is not, I don’t think, intended for anything other than light domestic use and around the garden has proved its worth so far, easily chopping branches too thick for pruners. I would have liked it to come with a starter bottle of chainsaw oil which is required before use. Interestingly, On the subject of chainsaw oil, I discover that it being petroleum based, the atomised oil spray the chain discharges while being operated is carcinogenic. An acceptable alternative is apparently vegetable oil which meets the same requirements and, as well as being healthier, is considerably cheaper.

We can only compare this to a handsaw, a jigsaw or an axe — all of which we have used in the garden (yes even jigsaw to cut some branches).

This chainsaw is vastly superior to everything else, removing branches of around 10cm in diameter is easy as pie. It will work on larger branches / wood but we’ve not had any to try.

I found is a bit difficult to put the chainsaw together — being overcautious as this is a dangerous machine — took me a good 30 minutes to get it going but (with hindsight) it’s pretty simple to assemble.

It is easy to use, does not vibrate much and isn’t too heavy. Feel fairly safe as well (has a safety switch and a had protector) but make sure you wear gloves, hat and goggles. It is quite loud.

The charger feels a bit lightweight and it takes few hours to charge, but the battery is strong and drives the saw well, lasts sufficiently long to do all what we needed in the garden.

Good thing about the battery — can be used in other cordless appliances from the same company.

It comes with no chainsaw oil — this is apparently a must (although we have cut a few branches without it and all looks well).

We have a fair number of bushes and trees that need ‘chopping’ and even an old wooden bench that we’ll cut and burn in the fireplace — this small chainsaw will make it all much much easier.

Overall very pleased with our first chainsaw.

This is a very handy little chainsaw for the general yard work we are using it for. It’s light weight makes it easy for even the not-so-strong to use, it is comfortable and well balanced in the hand the battery don’t hold for long.

    Actually quite impressed with this.
Short bar chainsaw kit (3 pc assembly) plus an included 40V battery & charger.
Ok – opening the box & you have the main assembly, a chainsaw bar, a chain and a protective sleeve. Plus a seperate battery and charger.
    Assembly is totally tool free.
Unscrew the light grey knob & the cover comes off.
Put the chain on the bar (check direction..) arrows on the chain MUST be pointing forward from the main unit to the front edge of the bar along the top and back towards the unit along the bottom.
(There is a reminder moulded in the plastic of the main unit on the to edge – see pics – double check this as you put the chain round the drive gear).
Putting the front cover back on may mean rotating the blue outer knob control so that the peg aligns with the holes in the bar.. it will all make sense when you do it.
Adjust the blue knob to get the right tension on the chain – this is about 2 – 3 mm of ‘slack’ 1/2 way along the bar.
Fully tighten the central light grey knob to secure the cover & bar.
Next, put the UK 3pin adaptor on the plug charger & charge the battery up. (A Euro 2 pin adapter is included but for UK this can be disposed of).
I initially charged the batter overnight – the LED on the plug shows green when fully charged.
The battery itself has a 4 light LED display showing 100% 75% 50% 25% charge.
You will need to buy some chainsaw oil if you don’t have any as none is included. This reservoir is filled with oil on the opposite side of the chainsaw to the locking mechanism & there is a useful transparent level to confirm. Oil reduces wear on the chain and increase lifetime.
Using the saw, I found the drive speed steady, slower than you get from petrol, but still very useable. Easily cut through some 8″ logs I have had drying out. ( See pics )
No idea on longevity of chain or drive unit as yet.
Personally happy with this for light occasional use.
Hopefully this review and photos is useful for you.
If it is please leave a just down here.
    Thanks for reading

5.0 out of 5 stars Easy to assemble, easy to use, cut through 6" logs with no issues.

Previously I have only used chainsaws belonging to others and I have had no experience of tightening chain, sharpening etc. and filling the oil tank (oil not provided with Swift machine). Initially I found the accompanying instruction booklet difficult to follow and I needed help from more experienced user (who lectured me long and hard on safety issues). Purchasers should be aware that this Swift cordless electric chainsaw is quite small at just over 2 feet, and there is a limit to size of timber to be cut (very much depends on skill of user). It is lightweight at approx. 6 lbs and it appears to be lightweight in performance, though at 40 volts the motor power seems adequate.

The booklet provides guidance on sawing technique (pull and push strokes), on use, maintenance etc. but doesn’t say how to sharpen other than advising ‘regrind saw chain’ dependent on conditions. With battery topped up via charger to maximum as LED indicator, fitting of chain guide bar (projecting approx. 1 foot) and chain including tensioning, and with chain brake loosened at front handle bar I was set to go. The machine is comfortable to hold, the on/off trigger is incorporated under the rear handle, and there is an interlock switch on the side (for right-hander). Handling is helped by reliance of plastic elements (lighter than metal) but it does allow questioning of how robust the Swift chainsaw may be, (and I wonder how long it will last). The machine is surprisingly low in vibration, but is still fairly noisy. I suspect I will only use the chainsaw for light work, but a 4-star rating is probably fair.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersGood Product I have there lawn mower the batteries are compatible so win, win the charger they supply as standard is not good as it takes a very ,very long time to charge. But they do supply a better charger which take a couple of hours to charge the batteries over all I have 2 items from Swift and very pleased with both.
