Golden Review Award: 9 From Our UsersI already have the 2004 Directors cut on DVD and the 2013 40th anniversary steelbook blu ray Final Cut versions so was looking forward to see what the 4k restoration treatment would bring.

Let’s start with the 4k Directors cut disc-
This ultimate version reinstating all available material from 3 different sources so includes all original 88 mins of the original + 6 minutes of the Final Cut and then the extra 7 minutes for this version.
Fortunately most of the directors cut material is at the very beginning which includes the scenes at the police station when they receive the letter about the missing girl so that’s not too bad when viewing the poor quality of the source material which is of a very poor vhs quality but when the odd small insert appears elsewhere in the film it’s so very noticeable and distracting spoiling the natural flow and feel of the movie.
With the original dvd release from 2004 although obviously noticeable it’s not such a drop in quality when compared to this 4k release.

The Final Cut is 94 minutes long and the reinstalled cuts are of 35mm as per the original theatrical version but from a different source and as so not of the same quality like comparing 16mm to 35mm film and again you can notice the difference but not enough to spoil the viewing experience otherwise the 4k is impressive.

The original theatrical version is 88 minutes long and in full 4k lovingly restored with deep HDR blacks and vibrant colours the maypole scene being a good example.
Shame it wasn’t also done as a 5.1 sound option but other than that the mono soundtrack is clean and crisp.
All in all a good release and something for every fan of this brilliant British movie.

4.0 out of 5 stars An excellent all in one collectio

Golden Review Award: 9 From Our UsersAs fans of the Whicker Man for many years – even having visited many of the filming locations – we saw this version at the cinema and were impressed enough to pre-order the box set, which was delivered yesterday on its release.
The footage lokos crystal clear, in many places detail we hadn’t previously seen is revealed – and we have over 100 watches in various forms. At present we dont have a 4K player, but watching the Bluray version last night was enough to reveal much more than previously seen, and it looks amazing, especially on our 55″ LG 4K UHD TV.

Packaging wise I love the box with its pop up Wicker Man and quote – ‘You will never understand the true nature of sacrifice – the included cards and folded posters are good and the book a treasure…

3 versions of the film and lots of extras on both HD Bluray and 4K UHD Bluray, plus a bonus soiundtrack CD of reimagined versions of the songs.

Very happy with this, a thing of beauty to be treasured and enjoyed for many years to come…

Golden Review Award: 14 From Our UsersIf you are like me buying this for the 4k releases then you will find the other three discs pretty pointless.
I prefer the original score and the bluray releases I will never play.
It will be interesting to see what the 4k upgrade directors cut will look like to the terrible re instated previous versions, only so much you can do. I would have preferred a cheaper 2 disc 4k release with all three cuts,p robably in the future. Bit if a rip off really.

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersThis film isn’t really a horror film, it’s like a mystery film ,where the film revolves around a British policemen played by Edward Woodward ,who is searching for a missing person, and travels to a mysterious village in England and towards the end of the film, as he gets closer to the truth, he gets captured by the villagers’ who the main villagers person is lead by a male character played by Christopher Lee, who was quite well known for playing various villains in films by this time. At the end of the film You see this tall Wicker Man thing on what looks like a huge bonfire. This film doesn’t really focus on bloody scenes and scary moments. It’s quite a heavy character film and features more dramatic scenes in this film. Christopher Lee does a very good performance in this film as a different kind of villain that he has portrayed in other films. Over the years this films has had many different home video releases on DVD.
