The video shows exactly what you get and my initial impressions of build quality as well as a quick overview of the ports, so I won’t go into all that here. Instead, I’ll go into what I consider most important: the transfer speeds and the port functionality. Full testing methodology included below for your information, but really, the summary is all you need to know.
Summary: Nothing to complain about here. Network ports on hubs do tend to put the price up a bit (and those that are sold more cheaply tend to perform really badly). However, this hub performed fine, with network speeds actually increasing as a result of using this hub – while I wouldn’t expect that from it every time, it’s good to see that it’s performing well. Good performance from a good solid hub.
This hub is capable of outputting video to an external display, although you should remember that the USB C port on your computer or device must be able to display video over USB C to use the display features (not all USB C ports do).
Pros & Cons:
+ Good/expected: No real discernable drop in performance for the USB 3 Type A, Network and Power Delivery ports compared to plugging into the computer directly.
+ Good/expected: HDMI port worked without issue.
– Bad/disappointing: None.
—————————————–
Testing methodology:
– USB 3 type A:
Control – 10 GBps SSD enclosure containing 3300 MB/s NVMe SSD plugged directly into a USB 3.2 Gen 1 (5Gbps) Type A socket on the test PC (CrystalDiskMark benchmark 464.13 MB/s);
Test – Same drive plugged into the 5Gbps USB 3 type A port on this hub.
– Network (Ethernet):
Control – Average of 5 x DownTester file copy benchmarks (359.13 Mbps), connected to server on home network using 1Gbps eth ports routed via 1 Gbps network switch;
Test – Same cable, same PCs but one connected to the ETH port on this hub.
– Power Delivery:
Control – Measured using inline Type C Power monitor connected to 100W charger delivering power directly to a power bank capable of max 18W (9V 2A) charging;
Test – Same, but through this hub instead of directly.
– HDMI: Tested (display and audio) via connection to Samsung monitor and LG 4K TV using known good HDMI cable
Results:
– USB 3 Type A speed: 462.28 MB/s (1.85 MB/s slower than control)
– Network speed: 445.94 Mbps (86.81 Mbps faster than control)
– Power Delivery: 16.40 W (1.3 W less than control)
– HDMI out: OK (including audio delivery over HDMI)
This works brilliantly. The main issue I’ve had with other adapters I’ve tried in the past is the lack of a LAN port. This adapter has one, which means I can have a wired connection to the internet which is crucial for me in an area where internet speeds aren’t the best.
This is a great little hub that I’ve used on a laptop with very few ports.
I can connect my USB mouse, keyboard, phone charger, HDMI monitor and Ethernet all with this one simple device. In addition my laptop power can be passed-though via the USB-C port.
The device feels high quality and the price is really good compared to other options.
Works a treat… Small size but configured perfectly. Ethernet port located at the end with 3 USB ports down the length. HDMI port for your screen. Power comes via a USC-C input and does allow charging via the connector USB-C so when plugged into your laptop it acts as both a charger and port replicator. Bargain at this price and well recommend.
Good port availability for my needs.
Instant PnP in the PC, no problems.
My previous hub cost a lot more and died with a mains power surge, so good to replace it with something less expensive.
This hub, stays cool, so far so good.
I good little bit of kit. I use it for work as laptops seem to avoid having their own usb ports these days. Had it a month or so and generally been fine. I had to plug in the hdmi after turning on the laptop otherwise it might not connect. USB are fine for keyboard etc but don’t expect to run cameras through it. For the price, pretty good
The annoying thing about modern laptops is that they require these additional hubs to get ethernet or usb to work as everything is USB C. Enter this device, one of a few I use. I use this primarily for external drives and ethernet and it works perfectly. USB 3 is plenty zoomy and my connection is reliable and rapid. Instant recognition for both MacOS and Windows 11 – highly recommend at this price
Great quality usb c hub. Multi use, nice and compact. Can use SD cards can connect to the pc by USB C connection, ideal for laptops as you can connect a ethernet cable for better connection. Nice portable hub. Recommended
Item arrived very well packed, so excellent start, perfect size and more important top quality looks and feels great , for the price can’t fault it, 10 out of 10 from me very happy indeed and would purchase agai
This is a great budget USB C hub with a selection of useful and versatile ports.
It’s slim and compact so ideal for when my husband is travelling for work and allows him to connect multiple devices to his laptop.
The transfer of data is very quick and connectivity was instant without any issues.
Overall it’s a great piece of kit and good value for money.
This hub is slightly unusual in that it has a working gigabit Ethernet port, which was not the case for the last hub I tested. With a metal case it looks and feels sturdy, though still needing to be kept in a pouch or laptop bag pocket. The 3 USB A ports and HDMI socket work as well, so this relatively inexpensive hub does what it says. The looks are definitely growing on me – premium and soild.
USB-C Hub 6 – in 1
Hub provides 6 ports giving you basic additional single monitor connectivity with wired ethernet
– HDMI 4K @30Hz
– USB-C power pass through
– Three USB-A 3.0
– RJ45 Ethernet
Its a small (12*3.5cm) and lightweight (65g) dock. Decent quality, with short (~15cm) attached USB-C lead to connect to your device (laptop etc.).
Majority of the ports are on one side (RJ45 on the end), which can make for a tidier cable setup
Worth considering if you need single monitor output and can live with 4K @30Hz and want wired internet depending on price.
This is a great little hub with useful ports including an Ethernet port.
It achieves great speeds when transferring data and it well made with a good build quality.
It gets a little warm using use which is par for the course and it’s a good size and very portable.
Although it’s not a good option for my gaming set up it is an excellent option for my work pc and enables me to use my peripherals without any issue.
I would recommend it and hope you find my review helpful.
This is a normal budget USB-C dock – I chose it over others because it has an ethernet socket. It’s slim and light, plastic construction, seems to work fine plugged in to my Samsung tablet (where I am using it as a DeX dock with a large TV screen, keyboard and mouse) As with all these things the “tail” is too short if you are doing anything other than laying it flat on a desk.. At this price (25 today) it is a good buy.
This USB C adapter has made my internet connection much more stable and reliable. The Ethernet port provides fast and consistent speeds, eliminating any worries about spotty Wi-Fi. It’s a great solution for situations where a reliable wired connection is necessary.
I must say, the hub has an impeccable presentation. I paired it with my desktop PC and the outcome was phenomenal. The file transfer speeds were lightning-fast, without any errors or issues, thanks to its USB 3.0 compatibility. Furthermore, the ethernet port functioned seamlessly and at a remarkable pace. I achieved decent internet speeds, with an average download/upload speed of 940Mbps, all credit to its gigabit ethernet adapter. In conclusion, the hub is an excellent device that appears to be incredibly dependable.
This is nice little hub – plugged it in and it just worked. Very light and compact, with a good selection of ports. No SD/TF reader, but my Mac has an SD slot so for me it’s pretty easy to use a SD carrier for TF cards.
What I like:
* Size and weight
* Wired network/Ethernet port – many hubs don’t have them now
* Performance is great
* Cable length – many hubs have stupidly short cables (I use a riser – it worked well)
Worth noting:
* Like many of this sort of device, it gets warm
* USB-C port is power-in only
A 4GB movie took just 5 sec to copy either way to an external SSD, and my 2k screen worked exactly as it should. Cheaper hubs are available, but the ethernet port makes this one a winner for me.
Why did they seal the CPE plastic bag it comes in? I would like that bag open for re-use. When transporting the hub with the laptop in a bag you want to be sure the surface of the hub and the laptop do not come in contact. If both are anodized aluminium that gives a bad scratching sound when they rub against each other, so just put the hub into the bag. Looks now ugly after cutting it open.
What needs to be known is engraved on the hub.
In the manual is no talk about using phones, I do not know why, only laptops. It could be better.
Maybe someone else tries this route …
The PD port is for actually charging laptops (there are other hubs which do not charge but support power to the USB devices, which is here not mentioned), while using data.
The hub supports Thunderbolt 3 which is quite new, but not top new. The hub has also limits in the HDMI speed, 30Hz. Not 60, and for sure not 120.
So this may be not the gamers choice, but for usual office jobs its fine. And how long does it work? I just mention this point, read a lot reviews about hubs and you come accross this issue.
This hub is not cheap, so it should work very long.
Some points I could not test: Hubs can have issues with dongles and webcams, and when connecting a new external harddrive some disconnect the other drives. I hope some reviewers find out in another review.
Until I hear different I believe the hub is also allright beside my simple common devices.
