I finally got round to using this; and it seems to do the job I was hoping it would. Unfortunately I haven’t been able to test the 4K support, as I don’t have anything that will display at that resolution (hence my hesitancy around giving it 5*s), but at normal FHD (1920×1080) resolutions it seems to work the way you’d expect it to. The picture is good enough for my liking, and I was able to use it to connect from phone, table, and laptop to a monitor and a TV.
The device itself is a nice design; it looks and feels like a decent quality item although, obviously, time can only tell with devices like these.
Overall, it’s worth trying if it you need something of this sort.
I started working from home a couple of months ago and recently got a monitor to use in line with my laptop to act as an additional screen.
This HDMI to VGA has allowed me to use both screens independently but through the same laptop. It was easy enough to set up and lead itself is thick and robust. I would prefer a slightly longer lead on it but its just long enough for what i need.
Works well with my Galaxy phone to the pc monitor!
Make sure your device supports video transfer via USB-C cable to HDMI as even though my phone can, my partner’s phone could not produce the picture due to the device being a slightly older model (the phone cannot generate the image but the cable can).
I thought, seeing the price was so good in comparison to the Apple TV connectors, I’d try this for my iPad and it actually works. I’ve only tested it but it screen mirrors and also plays videos full screen on the tv.
I also have the official Apple lightning to tv connector and they both work exactly the same output wise. Only difference really is that the official one allows charging whilst you are using it.
As mentioned, I only really purchased this for use with my iPad so not tried it on other usb-c devices.
I use this adaptor in the office to display my MacBook via the HDMI connector cables in the rooms. This unit is compact, appears well made and so far has served me well.
Cable and connectors are well made and robust enough to stand a few knocks. Cable is good, and picture quality is crisp and clear. Great to have around. Small enough to slip into a pocket or bag for when needed.
I got this as I needed to connect my work laptop to an external monitor – it’s a very straightforward connector and does what it says! No external power source needed, no need to charge; just plug in and go!
Great price tag at 7.99 with an 8% voucher (Apr 2023).
price at time of review 4.59
in a pinch needed to pull out an old screen to use but it was only vga. plugged this into the onboard hdmi port on my daughters dell optiplex and it worked wonders. its running 1920×1080 @59.9hz no problem so in a pinch i would deffently recomend this over getting a whole new scree
This is a really simple adapter, worked just fine with no messing around. Plug in the HDMI end, the connect up the VGA end to a VGA cable and monitor and get a bit more life out of any old VGA gear. I used it for an old projector and it worked great. At time of writing it costs less than a fiver, so a cheap way to bring life back to some old equipment.
Perfect little lead for giving some extra life to my old VGA monitor.
It outputs your HDMI to a VGA female socket, so you can use the existing VGA lead you would have used with your old equipment. Good clean picture and well worth the money.
