I like the fact that this can be charged via USB because the charging cradle provided unfortunately came with a European socket and no adapter that I can seen. There are some nice features though such as the torch. The quality is reasonable although the antenna supplied could be better and it might be worth investing in one that’s a bit better if you are going to use this regularly.
You only get one. So my idea of walkie talkie fun is out of the window. That said the radio itself is fantastic quality and looks the business. I’ve done some research on this particular model and it seems to be very popular amongst amateur radio enthusiasts. I believe it’s customisable to make it even more useful but you have to be an enthusiast really to have a clue what to do with it. Potentially you can listen to air traffic control and the frequencies for these again can be obtained if you know what you’re doing. The unit may seem expensive but compared to others that are similar in function they’re not really. Get into these and there’s loads you can listen to. One for enthusiasts and quite expensive if you want two for walkie talkie fun. Otherwise really good piece of kit that competes with much more expensive radios of this type.
Well my boyfriend has put this radio through hell
Overall it’s not too bad airband very distorted but it can be listened to
UHF a lot of harmonics the same signal coming through on different frequencies give you an idea 430.875mhz true frequency is coming out on 433.000 and 433.150mhz so when there is a repeater on the last two frequencies in the ham band it’s hexadeines with the main frequency
Gliders frequency not bad at all
Marine band the main frequency of 156.000 which the coast guards use there is a harmonic and you cannot hear anything the rest of the band is very good I hope that helps if I wanted to buy the radio again I would no
Programming software not recognising the radio also I purchased a hand mike for it and that wasn’t recognised on checking the output on an antenna metre the output was showing between 0.5 watts and 2 watts on both ham bands at full power.
This UV-K5 dual-band portable two-way radio works excellent I must admit, and it is very easy to use device, but if someone will have any problem how exactly use it, you will get really good instruction in this package.

Great quality device at all, and price is very reasonable I must admit.
I can highly recommend it to anyone.
It feels well made its mostly made from a tough plastic with a black finish
The antenna screws on and the belt clip slots down to lock in place the battery is also removable all the keys function well and have clear txt and display
There is a SOS light on the top for emergency
It comes with a dock for charging it has a EU Socket on but does include an adaptor for the UK it can be clipped onto a belt webbing or uniform
Simple to use and operate and the led screen glows up in use to display the channels and modes
The instructions included are basic and get you started buy I would of liked to see a little clearer detail on opperation
It does cover everything mostly the side buttons for call etc are rubberised and feel good enough to last a while The radio works well and is great for hobby s like CB radio, Walking, even could be used in emergency s I would say it’s an ideal beginners radio and made well especially at this price I think its a decent little unit with reasonably good battery life and a convenient charge
