I purchased this to make use of my GPU which supports 4K and wanted to enjoy watching 4k movies. I enjoy playing computer games every now and then but not ones that are extremely graphic intensive, therefore the low refresh rate wasn’t much a factor in my decision making process because this supports AMD FreeSync. The listing pictures and description are accurate. It comes with a HDMI cable, non-adjustable stand, power supply, and of course an instruction manual.
4K images are breathtaking. I did not notice any artifacts or image stuttering when watching a 4K movie/video. It played flawlessly. The games I played looked fantastic! Immediately registering the display with the manufacturer extends your warranty 2 more years for a total of a 3year warranty! Definitely pleased with that!
The negatives of this are the speakers. They are not loud at all. I resolved that by plugging in my external speakers. For me, the manual was a little lacking as far as explaining exactly what the various features do. Just saying ON or OFF doesn’t really tell me what it does.
For the average user and what I use the monitor for, i couldn’t be happier! Working flawless for almost 2 months now. Fantastic price for all the included features with a 3 year warranty included (must register product) is a big win for me. So glad I came across this display here on Amazon.
Colours are absolutely amazing, so long as you have HDR enabled, price is brilliant for the picture quality and the quality of the product. Easy to set up and feels really sturdy. Speakers leave a little to be desired but I only use this for my PlayStation anyways so they don’t get used much.
I was going to return it because it looked horrible when I enabled HDR on the PC. I went through the settings trying to change the brightness but it looked terrible until I saw a HDR setting in the monitor settings was off.
As soon as I enabled, it was a world of difference. Clean, sharp and very good colour reproduction.
Lots of light bleed in the corners, but this was a 200 quid monitor so I dont care.
I have a bright green pixel in the centre of the screen, very noticable if I have a black background to it. Picture attached. I just resized my windows so the pixel will sit on a window margin. I dont care about this because its not my main screen.
This is a good cheap second screen that punches way above its asking price because it has HDR. If you dont use it as a main screen you will be happy. I bought it solely so I dont burn out my expensive OLED screen.
Picture attached of the Z-Edge on the left and my AW3423DW on the right. The OLED is better, but its not horrible next to the cheap screen.
Despite the above flaws, this is a positive review. I am very very happy with my purchase for the price.
Your experience may differ, but I found I had to make the following colour balance changes to match with my Macbook’s display:
Red: 49
Green: 50
Blue: 60 (I know – seems crazy)
Depending on how well calibrated these displays are, you may find slightly different values work best for you. Additionally, if you’re running a Mac, I recommend you change from the default colour profile to ‘Colour LCD’.
As other reviewers have pointed out, you only seem to be able to get 60 Hz out of this monitor with the displayport connection, so suggest buying a displayport to USB-C/HDMI cable.
Overall a good budget monitor, consider a monitor with 99% sRGB coverage if colour quality is very important to you.
Picture quality is good. Brightness is good. It’s not the fastest display but for the money, I couldn’t find a better 4k display. I haven’t used this to do any gaming and I don’t think I would want to at 4k especially. Sure, you can go get a large 4k tv but the response time is sooo slow
I’m using this on a 2015 macbook pro which I’ve used on better monitors in the past. I would buy this monitor again if I was pinched for cash.
So the monitor is great. It looks nice. My problem came when setting it up. Unless it just has a sensitive plug. I spent 20 minutes trying to do different things to get the monitor to turn on [ yes I read the instructions ] turns out I just had to hold the plug in the right spot for it to turn on. It’s kind of an inconvenient situation, but other than that, it’s good.
In 2023 with todays advancement in technology. I believe that a great monitor can be bought for under $250. This one is it I tell you. I know a lot of people complain about the settings and color being off specifically red appears as orange. That’s because with a few adjustments made turns this monitor into a $599+ monitor !! For what you get this is hands out epic. Those big brand companies are all using same materials. Don’t fall for the consumer brand scheme. Look at the video and picture as reference. I can also provide the best setting I used to achieve these results! Best bang for your buck. Great for new gen consoles
Using two of them at my desk. It has made a huge difference. I had to lower the resolution to see the print because they are actually higher resolution than required. However, this gives the option to get the best resolution when watching video.
Bought specifically for having on-board speakers and HDMI input…but the internal speaker volume of the must be changed using a tedious On Screen Menu system of nested inputs…takes a lot of time and fine skills…
THERE IS NO EXTERNAL VOLUME UP AND DOWN CONTROLS and no remote…if this matters to you then don’t buy this monitor.
——> Update 4/23 <------ The company contacted me about the audio issue and offered a full refund. I declined as the video is very good and said I would just purchase an external speaker to control the audio. They replied and offered to contribute to the purchase of an external audio. This is customer service at its best.
Nice size and quality, love this monitor it fits my home office perfectly. This one was a replacement because one of my of the monitors got damaged moving the office desk
I’m not sure why all of these comments are saying that 4K@60Hz is only possible via Display Port. Because that is a whole bunch of shenanigans. As you can see in the photo attached, this monitor is fully capable of achieving 4K@60Hz refresh rate through an HMDI cable!
There are 2 HDMI ports on the back of this monitor. The only effort you need to put into this is to make sure you plug the HDMI cable into the HDMI port that supports 4K@60Hz refresh rate, not the 30Hz refresh rate–Easy Peezy. Another thing you might want to confirm is that the processing core on your laptop/desktop is able to support that high of a resolution@60Hz refresh rate. That info is a little harder to find, as you’d need to go to the manufacturer’s site that makes your exact processing cpu and find the specifications of your exact chip model.
PS. please excuse my daughter as my wallpaper.
PPS. this works so well, i bought 2 of these; contemplating on buying 2 more as well.
You can’t use HDMI cables to get more than 30hz display with a Mac. The connections has also been spotty for me if you bump the desk. It’s alright for the value and being 4k.
I bought this about 4 months ago from this review (august 2021) and have been using it daily for hours upon hours ever since. I use it at my desk, pack it up for on the go work, and I’ve never had any complaints. Occasionally it’ll disconnect briefly, but I can’t for sure say that it’s the screen as opposed to my laptop since I haven’t tried troubleshooting. Either way, it happens so infrequently that it doesn’t bother me.
The screen is very bright and the color replication is great as well. Would definitely buy this again if I needed to
This monitor is pretty damn great for $250. Is it the best monitor ever? No, and it’s not gonna be good for professional color accurate use or intense gaming. Casual gaming probably. It’s strengths are the price, the colors/contrast, and of course the resolution, and it’s amazing for workflow and content viewing.
Is HDR any good? I’m not sure. Enabling it requires changing all of my settings and I didn’t see enough of a difference to bother. It is not VESA HDR certified, which means if you really want good HDR you’ll have to find it somewhere else.
Refresh rate and response time: this monitor has slower response time than you’d want if you want to do a lot of gaming, you’d see ghosting most likely.
Color and contrast: the contrast is good, on the order of a high end TN panel from a few years ago. The color seems to be on the same order or better, but I have no good way to test this objectively.
Overall, if you just want a 4k monitor and aren’t too picky about anything but resolution, this will exceed your expectations.
For the money, it’s just as good as the same sized Samsung 4k monitor that I paid more than $600 for a few years ago. So for that, it’s very impressive. I’m sure there’s better out there but I haven’t seen any myself. This monitor looks great!
FYI the sound is unusable for all intents and purposes…. But who buys a monitor for sound???
I think of the fact that it even has sound as being a huge bonus. But seriously, the sound sucks… I’d describe it as “for emergency use only”. =)
This monitor is light, thin and bright. The image is high quality and I am pleased that it is quite bright and clear when powered directly off of my laptop (Lenovo ThinkPad X1). I also appreciate that it came with a variety of cables; I used the USB-C to USB-C connection. The order of connecting the cables matters, but was easy to figure out. I have to connect the USB-C cord to my laptop first, then the Z-Edge monitor, and it powers up and remembers the prior setting & configuration — this works roughly 80% of the time; every once in a while, the screen flickers and stays dark — as if it didn’t quite make the connection. This is easily addressed by unplugging and replugging the USB-C cord into the monitor. The monitor has speakers and the audio is about the same as you’d get from a mid-tier laptop (“okay” sound; not great, but certainly loud enough to hear). The foldable, magnetic cover is adequate as a cover, and so-so as a monitor stand. I purchased a separate, portable metal stand along with the monitor. Overall, very happy with the purchase.
I purchased this monitor to go with my Ultra 4K security system. The picture is great. The detail is great. It has been on now for a few weeks with no problems at all. I can also switch between my computer and security system with an HDMI switch also purchased from Amazon. I do not have any dead or stuck pixels. The controls are on the back but once you have everything set there is no need to touch them. I have my monitor switched with an external switch so the controls on the back are no problem for me. If you want Ultra 4K then look not further. This is the monitor you want to get. When I have the funds I will purchase another one for a backup.
For the price, it’s definitely a great product. I use it as a second monitor for my laptop. The picture quality is great. The screen has a Matt finish, thus less reflective. It’s easily powered by my laptop and doesn’t drain my battery much. The speakers are not as good, but not a problem for me since I rarely use them.
It arrived quite early, well packaged (better packaging than my laptop which costs about 10 times more). I’ve had it for about 2 weeks and no complains whatsoeve
