It’s a great product, with surprisingly good video and audio quality. The projector itself is very quiet compared to others I have owned previously. The remote control is quick, unlike other products where it takes a long time to click through buttons.

The only suggestion would be built-in Netflix, and Prime.

Purchased this projector for my partner. Really wanted something light weight and good quality.
    Was easy to setup.
We need a stand though as we are currently propping it up on the box and a cushion.
It would have been better if it came with a case as it needs to be kept safe.
Apart from that we are super happy with this product.

Really nice bit of kit and easy to set up. they were very helpful when i needed a little help. Sound is really good it does differ between DVD player and USB. or downloads. But! i want to register the projectors and get my free gift and can’t register on line and they have not got back to me. Would recommend. I have purchased a camera case to keep it safe and together.

The product is great, my only problem is the noise of the fan, it’s not a big problem and I understand it has to keep cool but maybe someway to silence the unit would be of benefit.

Very happy with it. Good image and sound quality, very affordable compared to others, compact, easy to store.

The only issue is it’s hard to set up due to projecting angle, it has to be quite high up and is quite fussy in terms of angle towards the wall, would be great to have some control over the projection angle.

We’re using the miracast option and have not been able to set up the hdmi cable. I’m fairly sure there is a problem on the laptop end, but still can’t testify as to how well it works.

The power cord is quite short, which is inconvenient but easily solvable with an extension.

What I really like about the TOPTRO mini portable projector is primarily the sound you get, the image and the overall package.

So one thing about projectors is that they get hot quickly and therefore need a cooling fan. On other projectors this can be pretty loud and distracting, but on this one it’s not much louder than a portable handheld fan. What makes this even better is the amazing speaker on this projector, I had this hooked up to my mom’s phone using Miracast and the sound was pretty amazing for a single loud speaker, but it was just at half volume and it didn’t sound bad at all. There was some bass and treble, meaning vocals always sounded great.

The image is pretty good out of the box, it’s a shame that they don’t provide a small stand to adjust the height, but the digital keystone works great with the on screen “boat steering wheel”, you can really tap the focus in. The good thing I haven’t seen in other projectors is the image settings menu, you can adjust the keystone angle as well as the image brightness and colours so you can really fine tune the image to your liking. I’m going to play around with the settings to fine tune the image, given the size of the projector, this is pretty good quality. Take a look at the photos I’ve taken, several of the ocean, some from an anime and some from a video game.

Overall everything about this projector makes putting something up on the big screen easy with the number of casting options, you have 2 USB slots for downloaded videos, photos and music, you have an HDMI port, DLNA, Airplay and Miracast. I was able to put something on the USB and play it as well as stream from my phone using the Miracast easily enough, all in a very small size that you can chuck it into your bag – all you need is the power cable and remote and you’re set.

I am a teacher, and I bought this projector to use at work as I teach in various classrooms around my school where there aren’t always working projectors. Therefore I wanted my own one to guarantee being able to project my lessons.

This is the perfect projector for this task as it is small, compact and lightweight; and the picture clarity is brilliant. I love that it came with a HDMI cable too. It can connect via wifi and bluetooth so I can use it with a laptop, iPad or phone as required throughout lessons.

The only thing which I have taken one star off for is the shortness of the power cable: it’s only just over a meter long. Due to this, I also need to carry round an extension cable to ensure I can plug it in and still have it project a large enough picture for my classes to see. If I could have taken off a half star I would, but Amazon don’t allow this, hence the full star. I would imagine if you were using this in a domestic setting that this wouldn’t be an issue.

I would recommend anyone to purchase this projector, as I’ve tried a few others in the past and this was definitely the easiest to set up. The sound quality sounds as good as your good quality tv and it’s very easy to set the focus. It just seems to simple as you would normally need to do a lot more with others I’ve tried but this is almost like plug and play. Plus its nice small and compact with lots of connections on the back and can also attach to a normal camera stand. I’m very excited to properly set it up and test everything else up but I’ve already watched a few HD movies and am very impressed with this purchase.

For the price, this projector is great for general use with a plus point being the ease of portability.

In use, you’ll see from the pictures and video that with ambient lighting in the room, as with most projectors in this class, the picture is washed out. However, with the room in darkness, picture quality is awesome and this is just on a white wall. I have no doubt that with even a basic screen, the colours and quality would be a lot better.

Setup was a breeze. Switched it on, adjusted the zoom and keystone correction and I was good to go.

Sound is pretty good from the projector which surprised me from such a small unit and although the fan noise is present, you don’t notice it too much when watching something (certainly quieter than some others i have seen)

All in all, a recommended purchase if you’re after something which can be packed away easily or taken outside for a fun movie night in the garden. Of course there are better projectors out there but this is a small amount of money to spend on something which gives you true 1080p HD for a little bit of fun.

Great small projector which incredibly quite and in same time able to produce such powerful light projection.
It has on front contrast and keystone correction, key stone correction affective on updown adjustment.
Due to its size and projection style it allows it to be useful in smaller premises as well, such caravan or smaller rooms,
Overall great projector with clear bright picture quality, good quality considering it’s price range.
Have a look to my pictures to see real size, hope it will be helpful to decide if it’s suitable for personal needs or not.

I have been looking for a long time for a compact projector for my bedroom. My husband told me to look into Toptro on Amazon as they have made some good projectors in the past. I can say that it works really well on a big and small screen. My video is shot in the day without much darkness to allow for deep colour but it still performs really well. One thing that stood out was the speakers, I don’t need to buy a sound bar as these are clear and loud.

Bought as a more portable replacement for my original Toptro projector of the same lumens. (see pic for size comparison with a “full size” projector) The picture is visible in daylight (see pic) but will be best used in a darkened room, but that’s to be expected for a projector at this price point. It includes a standard tripod mount (also picced) – but it’s quite weighty, so it won’t take much knocking about. Comes with the usual accessories and a cleaning cloth and a couple of weird tools that seem to be for cleaning it (?) but I’ve yet to work out specifically what for…

We we’re in the market for a budget projector that didn’t take up a lot of space and this fitted the bill.

Setup was very easy, the electric focus is a game changer that isn’t usually found at this price range.

It feels a solid well built unit and comes with a well written user manual, cleaning cloth, cotton cleaning buds, lens protector, remote control, AV cable and even a small screwdriver.

The picture and sound quality are excellent, it streams files from usb, dlna, hdmi, AV or Miracast with ease.

The bluetooth has connected to our speakers/headphones no problem.

Can’t fault it at all, really pleased for the price, highly recommended.

I didn’t expect much, I had its previous model the TR23 but I have to say, it’s an upgrade worth the money, absolutely amazing quality from the design (very compact) to the built and also the quality of the image, I am able to watch movies even during the day, it’s bright and sharp. The sound is really good as well but would recommend a soundbar, which connects in seconds, I have a JBL which works like a charm.
The fan is quiet, it’s easy to set up, literally takes 2 minutes out of the box to set up.
Definitely recommend! We even use it outside in the garden for movie nights.

I really had doubts when I ordered this but now I have it, I’m amazed with how good it is .
On unpacking I was very pleased with the quality of everything in the package.
Its really not just a projector, it has a built in amplifier and plays associated audio as well as video.
I unpacked the Toptro and was excited to see how it would perform. I quickly plugged it in and it came on immediately. After a couple of minutes looking through the setings I was comfortable enough to have a quick look at its functions. I plugged in an Amazon firestick (4K) and The Toptro became a smart TV with a super quality picture, a huge ‘screen’ and good audio quality too. I then plugged in a flash drive which had a few movies on it. Worked like a charm. Very happy so far!
Next I connected it to my laptop and my computer screen immediately appeared on the wall with no problems at all. It could double as a large screen for a laptop anyway.
Its a really useful unit. Its ideal for watching movies and TV at home big size. Its amazingly bright for something so small and will be great for taking along to give occasional lectures with a much better sound than using a laptop and not having to rely on a supplied TV. It can actually bluetooth to a wireless speaker if you’re looking for even better and louder sound. I don’t think you even need a laptop as you just plug the memory stick with the Powerpoint on it straight into the projector and run the talk using the excellent remote control. So small and easy to transport and/or move around.
I’m doing a quiz in a few weeks time and will certainly use this instead of my larger Optoma which gets hot and worries me that moving it can break the bulb before it cools down.
I think this has an LED bulb but can’t find any reference.
A useful piece of technology which is so worth the money and so easy to use that it won’t become an unused door stop.
It does everything except brew the coffee.
Its also such fun to have a projector.

Great projector, works straight out of the box, although you need your own batteries. Also plays direct from a USB drive which is so handy and we’ll be using on our adventures. Decent sound quality too. Quite compact too and the box doubles as a handy carry case. Includes lengthy HDMI cable and audio wires. pictures are on a green wall as I’ve not got white walls to project on to.

5.0 out of 5 stars Impressive and easy set up

  17. Anonymous says:

This is a fantastically small projector which packs a punch for its size. It didn’t take long to setup and is pretty intuitive.

The remote control requires 2xAAA batteries (not included), and works via infra red (which work from both Infront of and from behind the projector). It looks very similar to a Fire TV remote in turns of style and design.

The projector itself performs admirably, but one does need the room to be dark for optimal results – great for a home cinema. When powered on, the fan is noticeable – but this is expected with projectors, and is easily forgotten once you have your media playing. The built in speaker is reasonable however I would recommend using the built in Bluetooth function to connect to an external soundbar (easy to configure).

I’ve successfully managed to use the projector as a second display to my laptop but Miracast does introduce lag which means not great to use this approach to play games – better to use a HDMI cable (included) for such uses. I’ve also successfully projected an app from my android phone (see screenshot) using Miracast without difficulty.

Overall, a great little gadget which I can easily take with me when traveling (along with my FireTV stick).

Improvements for me would be adjustable front legs to get a better angle, a handle to carry the projector, and maybe a way to attach the lens cover to the projector when removed so it doesn’t get misplaced. All relatively small things, and I’m really not complaining with what’s offered.

One thing to note, there is a zoom function in the settings if you need to reduce the projection size due to being quite close to a wall. This took me a moment to find – it’s on the same page where you can adjust the angle of the projection to make it squarer.

I did lots of research to buy a projector beforehand.
This one has a very quiet fan, the speaker is really decent, the image quality is great, the focus is great. The brightness is great for movies.

The only improvement that could be made is to the keystone. It has not got a horizontal keystone.

For the price, though, this is the best you will find!!

Golden Review Award: 10 From Our UsersVery happy with this portable projector! The moment I’ve turned it on, it surprised me for how quiet it was. I’ve had small projectors before and they sounded a lot clunkier and cheaper, but this little projector is definitely very powerful for its size! The video quality is also impressive as shown in the photos I’ve attached. It is very lightweight and I can see how it is very easy to carry around on trip and so. All in all, I recommend it, powerful projector for the size and price!

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersThis review reflects the things that are important to me. What is important to you may differ – but I will clarify my priorities in order:

    1. Picture Quality
    2. Ease of use
    3. Sound
    4. Style
    5. Features
    6. Connectivity

Projectors are not for everyone and every situation. These cheaper LED projectors have unique advantages and dis-advantages (mostly that you can lug them around and bump them without the bulb blowing!) If you decide you want to buy one, the Totpro X5 is great and has the best picture of the LED projectors I have owned (I own 5).
My daily-driver is an 800 (traditional bulb) Optoma ceiling-mounted projector and these LED ones do not compete, but they are for very different uses. I will be putting this Totpro projector in my daughter’s student house.

NOTE: For my use I use an Amazon FireTV stick. With all sources you MUST ensure the player is configured to playback using the same framerate as the original source (i.e. 24fps for films, 50hz for TV etc). If you fix the player at 1080p/60 then you will get some frame judder. Things will be so much smoother if you set your FireTV/Chromecast/Roku/whatever correctly.

    Image Quality
Let’s start with the most important.
In the right viewing conditions, picture quality on this projector is great and in a dark room contrast is excellent.
Every generation of LED projector claims a brightness improvement. It’s not true – my oldest LED projector (from 2019) is just as bright as the new ones. You really have to ignore the brightness ratings the manufacturers give for cheap projectors — they all talk rubbish. I would estimate this as approx. 250 Ansi lumens (Ansi lumens are the industry standard for measuring projector brightness) which is perfectly fine if you can control the brightness of your environment.
Colours are rich and not artificial – looking. The image processor on this projector is great – older ones would introduce a blue or magenta tinge but not this one.
I prefer to enable game mode (as it softens the image slightly — by default the images are very over-sharpened and you should definitely turn the sharpness down!). I also prefer the ‘warm’ colour setting for this model. This reduces peak brightness slightly but is worth it.
Shadows are rendered very well — there is a nice, gradual drop-off towards black, rather than a cut-off where everything near black gets chopped off at the knees.
I have included some sample images. Including dark scenes so you can see the black aren’t getting crushed. I included 2 images of Rocket, one with the lights off and one with them on to how how that hurts contrast.
The wider picture of the room shows the lighting I used to take all the other pictures. You can see I didn’t use a completely dark room, and the projector was still perfectly watch-able. If it were Mid-day, however, I would have needed to close the curtains.
The lens is greatly improved over others — with the best overall sharpness, edge sharpness and reduced flare (which causes bright object to smudge outwards) than any I have seen. I didn’t even notice my Wimius X3 had lens flare until I put it side by side with the Totpro (which has none)!
The image brightness drops off verty slightly towards the edges (and I have included a picture of the Totpro boot-screen to show this. This is actually very good compared to others. I guarantee you will not notice it when watching films or TV.
Overall, the picture is great. I got the opinions of 3 other people, and they all preferred the Totpro over my other LED projectors.

    Mounting
I think the updated (TR25) version they are selling now has a tripod mount. I really wish mine had this — it has been missing from portable projectors for far too long! I had to use a projector stand for this review.
The projector is designed to sit mid-screen height (rather than below or above like more expensive projectors) which makes it impractical for ceiling mounting or placing on a table. If you did this, you would not be able to focus both the top and bottom of the image and you would need to use the digital key-stoning — which makes the image smaller and worse. Please only mount this at the correct height!
It is quite long-throw (needs to be far from screen to get a large image) so you may even want to mount it behind the sitting area and project over people heads if possible — and putting it on a tripod is ideal for this config.

    Audio
I would always use external speakers on any TV/projector. This (X5) projector has a head-phone out you can use to connect externals. And modern Bluetooth standards. The menus work very well with the remote and adding Bluetooth speakers was easy. No significant Bluetooth lag either. As I use a FireTV though, I would typically pair BT speakers directly to the FireTV.
Built-in audio is good. It doesn’t distort at full volume — which is handy as the speaker is not loud. It’s fine for watching the news or sport.
Fan noise is there but not distracting. You will hear it in quiet/silent scenes, but that’s just a projector thing!

    Features
It has some nice features but I only used them in passing.
Screen casting is great to shop photos from your phone — but not video as it’s too jerky, Not the projector’s fault — that’s just how screen casting is.

Overall, for the price and picture quality — if you can control your room brightness then this really is a great product. The updated styling on the TR25 version looks much nicer too!

This is a very good little projector. It’s very small and light and looks cute.

It has 2xusb, hdmi, screen mirroring input for apple and android products. The screen mirroring function is so convenient as you don’t need to connect any cables.

I’ve also connected my chromcast onto the projector and it works perfectly.

The menu is very easy to use and the remote is very responsive.

You can also connect audio to a bluetooth speaker or earphones but the projector sound quality is already very good.

Great little projector that was working within 2 minutes of getting out of the box!
It was easy to connect to bluetooth, wifi and a laptop.
The Wimbledon shot was taken in a very bright kitchen with roof lights and windows.
The sound is ok but much better when I connected a portable speaker to the aux socket.
It has a HDMI connection and comes with a HDMI cable.
I connected a tripod to the screw fitting on the base of the projector. Made it much easier to manoeuvre and get the picture level.
Has keystone levelling and is easy to change settings using the included remote control.
There is a fan to cool the projector but this is quiet and is not too intrusive.
Has a 3 year warranty and at this price it is great value for money!

I have used many projectors but never a small portable one, this has surpassed my expectations the quality is fantastic and the sound is better than most of projectors I’ve used, I particularly love the electronic focus which is controlled either by the remote or with the 2 buttons next to power button on top of the projector, I connected my firestick and then tried my virgin media tv box via HDMI, the both worked flawlessly with no problems, all in all im so happy with this projector and would recommend it to my friends
