A very original idea, well executed. All about a well meaning guy who seems to take forever to realize that his very strange night out in the town is jinxed from the off. Not nearly as strange as the various comments have suggested, it is very entertaining and not t all out of date.

Few films deserve such a glorious release as ‘After Hours’ and having seen some of the 4k screencaps, fans are in for a treat. If you’ve never seen After Hours – and it has been somewhat forgotten since its release – it is the most wonderful, tense, Kafka-esque comedy around, full of eccentric characters and our hapless hero, played superbly by Griffin Dunne. His trials and tribulations as he heads into NY one evening are hilarious, often darkly so and it says much for this that it operates very well as a comedy AND a thriller. It’s capped off by a sublime ending that finishes this unique film perfectly. It’s the Scorsese masterpiece that is often ignored, probably because it is so different from his other work. It’s left an impression on me ever since I first saw it on TV in the late 80s and truly is a sublime piece of cinema.
