I’d never heard of blue bettle until the other year when I got a funko pops version for Christmas, as soon as I saw the movie I had to get it and was pleasantly surprised by the movie, a follow-up would be good

I am a big TV and film critic film I thought it was a good film although I would wait until it comes out for free and you don’t have to rent it but definitely worth a watch

The movie is good, action point on, but the script is a little weak…..at some point it almost feels like a soap opera but the conceptualization of Blue Beetle powers is just superb.

…..nothing to dislike here unless you don’t like crazy action, hilarious humor, a good story and some better than average effects, a good watch with your friends or family and your favorite movie snacks on a cold and frosty evening.

Superhero movies have been kind of bad of late so this one was quite refreshing in sticking closer to its roots. It was a solid origin story and works standalone without trying to link too strongly with any other hero in the wider setting.

I enjoyed the movie and the great selection of cast, this was a good origin story of the blue Beatle and now it’s out the way I truly hope there is a sequel in the works and it continues its great story

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersJamie Reyes returns from university to find his family in danger of losing their home and their livelihood due to the looming presence of the Kord corporation, once a corporation that was working to better the world but since the disappearance of it’s founder, Ted Kord, now in the control of his sister Victoria, who is using the biotech firm for military contracts and the advancement of weapons. When Jamie finds himself in possession of ancient biotech known as the scarab, it fuses with his body giving him incredible powers that immediately puts a him and his family on a collision path with Victoria and her army of enhanced soldiers.
I went into Blue Beetle knowing almost nothing about this character and their history and so had no expectations regarding the storyline or character development which actually made quite a refreshing change from seeing the likes of Batman, Spiderman and others that I know lots about. Overall I enjoyed Blue Beetle, I felt this one was not quite as dark as other DC films and was a bit more family friendly. I felt the humour worked well, the action was spot on and there was a lot of heart behind it with a really strong focus on the importance of family and where inner strength comes from. On the downside, I think perhaps one of the villains looked a bit Power Ranger-esq when he was fully transformed and some of the supporting cast were a bit OTT to verge on grating but despite this I would be happy to see this character and his world explored further in future DC projects.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersCollege student Jamie Reyes finds an alien scarab and bonds with it which gives him superpowers. The latest movie from DC is nothing you haven’t seen before but still terrific entertainment with bits of Marvel’s Iron Man, Venom and Ant Man movies all mixed in together. Excellent performances from a little known Mexican cast lead by Xolo Mareduena and a fun over the top performance from Susan Sarandon as the main villain who’s pretty much a female version of Lex Luthor along with some impressive action and effects. This is a very likeable hero I’d like to see more of and the first character as part of James Gunn’s new look DC Cinematic Universe.
