For years I have been using cedarwood essential oil which i spray onto wooden pieces to put into clothes pockets and hang on coat hangers etc so as to deter moths. My usual Swedish brand is unavailable so bought this recently. I sprayed it around the bedroom as suggested on the package… and wow, it is potent, real stuff. Should last for ages. Very good for moth issues.

The natural cedarwood oil in a pump spray bottle made the task of keeping clothes and fabrics free from moths quite simple. Just a few spritzes here and there, and I found no signs of those pesky insects. The scent is not overpowering and has a calming effect. The fact that it’s safe, vegan-friendly, and chemical-free made me comfortable using it. I found it to be an effective alternative to conventional chemicalsprays.

This smells really nice! I’ve sprayed our wardrobes, curtains and hallway rug with it to keep the bugs away and I haven’t seen any at all. Whether we would have got some or not I like that it smells nice and is working regardless of our risk in the first place of getting them. You don’t need much at all and I would recommend doing literally one or two sprays and then giving it a second, rather than trying to cover the area like I did in my first wardrobe! Make sure to either wear gloves or wash your hands thoroughly after as well. It’s not that it’s harmful or anything but because it’s an oil it lingers on your hands and I got some on them with all the spraying.

This spray lists its ingredient(s) as just cedar, so the oil is apparently pure and free from any additives. It is indoor-safe and has proven quickly to be very effective around the house, where we previously tended to have moths fairly regularly they are much more scarce since we began using it. It should be noted (as indeed others already have) that the scent of the oil is rather strong; given its 100% purity this should be unsurprising, but if you’re not a fan of the smell of cedar it may well be off-putting, particularly given its tendency to linger for a little while after application.

The spray can be applied to most things, although it recommends avoiding fabrics and based on our experience it also needs care when using near houseplants (having applied some in the conservatory I noticed one plant with white spots all over the leaves where the spray inadvertently ended up). Coming as it does in a standard spray-top bottle it’s very easy to apply and each bottle should last a fair while based on current usage, getting four of them in the pack is very handy as the whole lot should last for a good long time. Overall, not without its drawbacks but an effective and all-natural product that can be used safely in the home.

I have found using this oil has ‘rehydrated’ cedar wood bits I have. The smell of this oil is apparent in my wardrobe. It is an ok smell but might not appeal to everyone. I actually generally like the smell of cedar wood itself. This isn’t as strong as the wood smell itself, but I think this may well have a positive effect on my mood. (It certainly puts me in a better mood if my clothes are staying intact!) Given the holes I had had in some of my clothes previously so far it seems to have prevented my new woollen clothes from being ruined.

Whilst looking for ideas around dealing with moths on my clothes I came across the extensive usefulness of cedar wood oil. Apparently it is also good with other bugs. The science says that these bugs depend on pheronomes — to find resources, navigate and breed. Apparently cedarwood oil affects their ability to use and detect pheromones. It disorientates the bugs and disrupts bodily functions — repelling or killing them.

So I will be trying this out when I have other irrigating bugs in my house. Worth trying — just remember not to use directly on clothes as it is an oil.

4.0 out of 5 stars Worth trying to deal with moths and possibly some other bugs too

Review: I despise moths with a passion, and this Cedarwood Oil Moth Repellent has been a crucial tool in my war against those winged nuisances. The fact that it’s non-chemical and all-natural is a huge plus for me — I’m all about keeping my living space free from harmful substances.

The smell of cedarwood is powerful, and while some might find it overpowering, I find it to be the scent of victory. Moths absolutely detest it, and that’s exactly what I want. I’ve noticed a decline in the moth population in my flat since using this repellent, but I must admit, I’ve also been using another chemical option simultaneously. I can’t scientifically prove which one’s the real hero, but I’m giving credit to this cedarwood warrior.

The spray covers a large area, and the 100ml bottle seems like it’ll last for ages. It’s reassuring to know that I won’t have to worry about moths invading my wardrobe or drawers anytime soon. So, while I might not be able to determine its standalone effectiveness, the combo of natural cedarwood power and another repellent is working for me. Moths, beware — my wardrobe is a no-fly zone, thanks to this repellent!

This is seriously powerful stuff. I think I pumped a bit too much at first and had to open the windows for a while. Used sparingly the odor I find quite pleasant, bit initially was a bit overwhelmed by it.
So far, so good. It seems to be working as I am noticing fewer than usual moths around.

I will also advise wearing gloves when spraying as it will linger on your hands otherwise.

The scent of cedarwood brings a warmth to my cupboards, creating an appealing yet purposeful environment. The spray is handy, and I’ve noticed it wards off those pesky moths that used to dine on my clothing. There’s a comforting knowledge that this is a natural and vegan-friendly solution. Despite being used sparingly, it seems to linger and maintain its effect. A secondary benefit is the calming influence the scenthasonmymood.

Moths are the bane of my partner’s life. She is a great craftswoman and loves all sorts of textile works. So moths coming along and chomping on her meticulous work and ruining it really upsets her. So we try all sorts of combinations of deterrents. This spray is the latest addition to the armoury. It appears to be pretty effective although only prolonged use will really tell us definitively.

The cedarwood fragrance with this is, fortunately, something we both like. However, we don’t all have the same reaction to fragrances and so this might be too strong for some.

All in all we’re happy with this and hope that it continues to be effective.

This cedarwood oil has an exquisite fragrance, embodying a luxurious blend of deep, woody tones interwoven with delicate citrus notes, subtle balsamic undertones, and a hint of camphor.

Following the enclosed instructions, I applied the oil sparingly within my wooden wardrobe where I keep our winter coats. However, I sprayed it too closely to the surface, necessitating the need to rub the oily droplets into the wood.

A mere 3-4 spritzes proved sufficient to infuse the entire wardrobe with a delightful aroma, which, fortuitously, also serves as a natural repellent against bugs and moths.

In the past, I used to place cedarwood cubes to ward off pests within the wardrobe. Yet, this oil presents a notably better solution because it lasts longer. The oil gets absorbed by the wooden panels, allowing it to linger for an extended period.

The quality of this particular brand’s cedarwood oil is exceptional, as it permeates the wood well.

First and foremost, I appreciate that this moth repellent is made from natural ingredients, particularly cedarwood oil. It gives me peace of mind knowing that I am not exposing myself or my belongings to harmful chemicals. The scent of cedarwood is pleasant enough, and it acts as a powerful deterrent against moths and other insect pests.

The application of the spray is straightforward. The 100ml bottle size is convenient and easy to handle. With just a few sprays, I can cover a substantial area, whether it’s my wardrobe, curtains, carpets, or clothing. I particularly like that it can be used on various surfaces without causing any damage or discoloration.

One of the standout features of this moth repellent is its effectiveness. Since using it, I have noticed a significant decrease in the number of moths and insect pests in my living spaces. My clothes and fabrics remain protected, and I no longer find any unwelcome surprises when I open my drawers or wardrobe.

Furthermore, I appreciate the long-lasting effect of this repellent. Unlike some other products I’ve tried in the past, the Cedarwood Oil Moth Repellent Repeller Spray provides extended protection. I don’t have to worry about reapplying it frequently, as it maintains its efficacy for a reasonable period. This is especially convenient for busy individuals like myself.

In conclusion, I highly recommend the Cedarwood Oil Moth Repellent Repeller Spray for anyone dealing with moth infestations or wanting to prevent them. Its natural composition, ease of use, and effectiveness make it a reliable choice for protecting your clothes, carpets, curtains, and other fabric items from moths and other insect pests. With this product, you can enjoy peace of mind and a pest-free environment.

This smells and seems like a brilliant, real cedar oil. It is never to be used directly on cloth or knit wear but take all out of the cupboards and drawers and use this. It doe not kill moths but deters them so you really need some hanging moths killer too . Having said that I love this and use on the cedar rings I have hanging on the coat hanger. They have cedar oil but it is not very strong . This tops it up and give a lovely smell.
It is also said to help prevent mildew which is fabulous
The sprayer itself is working well now. It could get blocked with the oil but it is working well. I like this product a lot. But to be sure have moth killers as well.
because out houses never get really cold now we have a plague of moths and have to protect everything. This is a big help.

The thing with moths is that they are very, very difficult to get rid of once you have got them. So this strong and not unpleasant cedar oil is great for freshening up your wooden moth repellant items such as cedar balls or wooden coat hangers. It will not, however, get rid of existing moths if you have them. Having said that, this is a great oil spray which gives a new lease of life to wooden deterrents and as it is quite a big bottle and requires only a short spray, it will last you for some time. DO NOT spray on clothes as the oil can stain and is not designed for direct application onto material. I like the smell which is rich and wood like and I am happy to store my clothes in a wardrobe or drawer that smells of the oil.
Overall a good and effective deterrent that should last for quite some time.

Over the years we have used a variety of cedarwood based articles as moth repellents in the wardrobes and this is the first time we have resorted to using an oil spray directly (or onto existing cedar samples which do seem to lose odour with time). There are many variants of cedarwood oil with many different chemical constituents — this is stated to be cedrus deodara — Himalayan cedar oil. It looks to be a neat oil so spray with care and avoid contact with skin (unless diluted) and do not spray on clothes. It has many other properties as stated in the product description — antibacterial / antifungal and well as mood enhancement ( so long as you like the odour) also in perfumery blends.
I personally like the smell (not everyone does), remember it is a neat oil and use sparingly.
Tested – in wardrobes (on existing sandalwood pieces) and neat onto wooden bookcase in a Summerhouse plagued with mildew. So far, so good
Price — you can buy multiple packs for large areas (but with modest savings per pack) . Not sure how long the oils last in a spray bottle ( 6 -8 years suggested on the Internet)
Given the timescale allowed for this VINE review I will need to report the long term effects on moths and mildew in the long term separately or as an update

First off, this oil really does go a long way and a small application onto a piece of wood, or to recharge a piece of cedar wood which you hang onto a coat hanger is sufficient to deter moths; it is a case of little and regularly as the scent declines over time. Sadly the scent of cedar does not kill moths or their larvae and therefore this product will not be effective against an infestation in say a drawer or wardrobe and for that you need thorough cleaning and an insecticide such as moth balls.

Cedar wood has been used for centuries to deter moths from destroying clothes, recorded back to Greek times, when organic materials for clothing were placed into storage and such was their value, that steps had to be taken to prevent clothing being destroyed.

I have applied mine mainly on cedar wood tags which for onto my wooden coat hangers, however, I have a couple of cupboards where I store jumpers and the like and I have found that applying a small amount of oil to a small piece of any timber (pine off cut) permits the oil to penetrate the wood and slowly release the scent.

My advice to any purchaser really is to apply a very small amount as the scent is strong and whilst this does leave a pleasant smell on your clothing, particularly as the door/drawer will be closed, it can a little too strong. If you do not want to smell like a Nordic Forest when you are out, just go careful with the pump spray.

Wow, this ceder has such a strong scent. I’ve used other ceder oil before as we have clothes moths and it does seem to help keep them off my clothes. I have wooden pine dresser-drawrs. I take the drawers out and spray them thoroughly with ceder oil and put the clothes back in once the oil has been absorbed by the wood. It keeps the moths out and keeps the clothes smelling fresh. I personally like the smell, it’s very rich and fresh, earthy, woody.

Although my previous ceder oil was effective, the spray pumps kept getting clogged after a few uses, which was very annoying. These pumps have worked fine so far – no clogging. And these are larger bottles and do have a stronger scent than my old stuff, so I’m confident it will work just as well (or maybe better) so they seem gift value although pricey.

A weird if advice though, those us a good deterrent but I wouldn’t trust this spray alone to rid yourself of moths or to protect *woollen* clothing – I keep my wool stuff in vacuum seal bags with a few ceder blocks sprayed with this in as an extra measure. You need to guard your wool well, they are relentless for it.

If you accidentally spray directly on the insects then dont be surprised if the insect dies almost immediately. It seems that the spray is only a “repellent” if non contact is made.
If you spray in living areas then be prepared for a significant pong to linger in the air for a day or so.
If rebound spray manages to catch your hand then your fingers will very quickly become very oily.
1 can should last quite a while by the looks of things.

I can confirm that this spray is VERY effective. Long story short – usually I find that flying insects such as midges and flies are not too bright. They spend all their time trying to fly through pane glass windows but are not clever enough to realise that I have opened a window right next to them so that they can fly out to freedom. Indoor rubbish bin located in my kitchen. I forgot to empty it on time and upon opening up the lid – a huge number of midges flew out. Being besieged by them I opened the kitchen door and about 99% of them flew out immediately! Proof positive, as the saying goes.
