Ottimo acquisto.

Purchased as upgrade from Vivoactive 4 so it could be donated to person who had worn out a Vivoactive 3.
Color AMOLED screen is a game changer. Even without the screen always on it is tremendous because it brings alive the data. The output screens for daily/live data are reason enough to buy this (on sale, of course). Screen illumination is also pretty good outside.
The ekg feature isn’t as good as my KardiaMobile device, but it will should let me carry around rudimentary capabilities just by wearing a watch, without a need to carry the KardiaMobile device and an iPad/phone for output. Have needed it in the past, and this is another game changer.
Use mostly for daily time and cycling. The Sleep functions were a nice surprise, and I don’t mind reviewing them in the morning even though I didn’t really use them before now.
For cycling, the screen has to be changed to Always On, unlike the Vivoactive 3 & 4, but I’ve got a Garmin cycling computer for while-cycling data display without having to focus on a watch. The Varia radar warning on the Venue is also strong enough to use by itself, although the actual distance display really needs a cycling computer. It can be use while cycling, but I have a cycling computer for that because the large screen and the ability to have a good Varia distance output are far better (although I need the wrist device for Intensity Minutes, anyway).
The general watch faces are also a lot nicer than any I’ve had for the Vivoactives, even if you need to use gestures or actual screen touches. The gestures to toggle are also quite sensitive enough that I rarely need to do a screen tap. The simple screens included on the watch are quite good and can be edited from the watch. They are easily able to take the place of my favorite Mondrian Vivoactive design, which is saying something.
As usual, the Garmin manual is written for people who ALREADY KNOW how to use the watch, as are ALL Garmin manuals I’ve ever read. They really are a throwback to the 1970s and 80s DIY electronics genre. The best you can do is download the pdf and use at least an iPad to read them.
You’ll have to read elsewhere for a review of the Mobile App because I find it so complicated to connect that I just use the Garmin Express on Windows. Because I’m not a new user, I can’t evaluate how easy the Express app on a desktop is. The website data page is better (although different) than before, but let’s hope they don’t get hacked, again.
Battery life is excellent, and will continue to give longer usable charge even as the watch ages. I have a braided nylon band(s) for this, and I have had NO issues with keeping it on for days-on-end, either from low charge OR discomfort of the watchband. The ability to change night time colors and the useful/reworked sleep displays really make it useful to keep the watch on 24/at least 3. BTW, the watch STILL uses the same 4 dot recharging/data connection, so I anticipate a continuing need to buy new charging cables based on past experience with this design. It really is a weak point, and I’ll have to find my stash of silicone charging port covers.
Overall, it’s a great upgrade from the Vivoactive line without the price of the more sports-dedicated offerings. Upgrade means you already have your desktop setup, have spare cables, and know how things work. Can’t tell you about the learning curve on those things because I’m past them. Everything works well enough that even with an iPhone I would not trade this for an Apple watch.
I don’t use the watch as a music player, either. I’ve got separate players or my phone for that.
I would buy a replacement in a heart beat if I trashed this one!!

Golden Review Award: 77 From Our UsersLet me preface this by saying I chose this one after buying, trying, and then returning the Apple Watch, the Samsung Galaxy Watch, FitBit, and a couple of other lesser-known brands. I actually went with a Garmin Venu Sq. 2 first and I loved it, at which point I bought this one due to the beautiful, large AMOLED screen and because it runs on the sand base software. That’s a GOOD thing, so let me elaborate.

This is by far the most accurate watch for counting the total calories burned. The Apple Watch simply did not let me view the TOTAL calories burned, as it would show your estimated basal metabolic rate and then stack the active expenditure in a separate category, so you’d have to go back and forth to view each one and then add it up. The Galaxy watch suffered a similar problem, but it was not that accurate at measuring steps, which would directly affect the caloric expenditure. The FitBit was just WILDLY inaccurate and once told me I burned 5000+ calories in a day because I had a panic episode after something bad happened in my personal life, and so that night it registered me as having burned thousands of calories just laying in bed.

The Garmin, however, did everything right (accurate steps that match the ones my iPhone said to within 5%, heart rate matched a professional blood pressure cuff, and the calorie counter tracked my weight loss exactly). It is extremely useful when counting calories where a slim margin is needed, such as aiming to lose 750 calories a day to lose 1.5 lbs/week. It it’s off by just 100 or 200, that’s already a half pound off, or 26 pounds a year.

It is extremely important to me that it gets it right. It also has a ton of features, but I don’t use them honestly. It’s very easy to connect and set up, too. The price is subjectively fair but objectively it is quite high. Regardless, I am very pleased with it. The battery life is EXCELLENT if you turn Bluetooth and WiFi off, too. 5/5 all around!

I should begin my review by caveating that I previously used an Apple Watch and since the pandemic, have been doing HIIT sessions thrice weekly to lose some weight and improve my overall fitness. So I’ll be comparing the Venu 3 accordingly.

The first thing that hit me whilst taking the Venu 3 out of its box was how unbelievably lightweight it was: light as a feather compared to my Stainless Steel Apple Watch Series 7. The Venu 3 has apparently got a stainless steel bezel and a hardened glass compared to previous models or the Vivoactive series, but it is still quite light. The next thing to note is the basic strap compared to the standard Apple straps. The Garmin is a fitness watch through and through, so perhaps it won’t be a first choice if you want a fashion accessory to look good on the wrist.

Pairing the watch with my iPhone was no problem at all. I had already set up both Garmin apps and once I connected to the phone, the software recognised it straight off the bat. I also managed to get the Garmin Connect app to communicate with the Apple Health app. It’s a little bit too much to have so many apps for monitoring one’s health but alas not a lot that can be done about that.

Now, onto where this watch really shines and beats the Apple Watch hands down: the fitness features. I zapped through a 20 minute HIIT session. The Venu 3 counted through every repetition without any problems and chimed for each rest and repeat on the minute. At the end of the workout I was quite stunned at the amount of information it provided – in particular, the graphics showing which muscles I’d worked on in my body. This is clearly not a step counter or a popular fashion accessory, you buy this for the health benefits and nothing else. The battery is another clear winner. I had long got fed up of the Apple Watch’s inability to stay charged for longer than a day. Not an issue for some, but if you are on a flight you’d expect your watch not to run flat by the time you arrive at your destination. The Venu 3 beats the Apple Watch hands down here with a battery life of between 11 and 14 days with the ‘always on’ feature disabled.

Alas, the health benefits to some is all they need in a fitness watch, but to others it can be a no-go. The Venu 3, being a Garmin product, does not work seamlessly with an iPhone: you need to enter WiFi passcodes manually and it can only remember the details for 7 networks. With the Apple Watch, it works based on what your iPhone remembers. And notifications can only be cleared on the Venu 3; there is no option to reply or to look at the full message. It does receive all notifications from your iPhone, but without the phone itself, it is pretty pointless and can be annoying at times. So I’d suggest keeping the notifications turned off altogether if you go for a Venu 3.

Despite the Venu 3’s outstanding fitness features and excellent tracking capabilities, I opted to go for a newer Apple Watch, simply because it works much better alongside my iPhone. I have a better choice of straps, they fit better in my opinion, plus I get to disable the notifications that I don’t want and keep those that I need. Apple Pay is much more useful than Garmin Pay in the UK as it supports a lot more cards. It is a gimmick feature, but once you’re used to it, it’s hard to let go of. I am not an Apple fan boy as such, but the integration between the two is seamless and for this reason Apple Watch wins.

My last point is probably down to preference, but the Apple Watch also comes across as more masculine with its square shape; the Venu 3 (regular size) seems odd being circular (perhaps I have got too used to the Apple Watch?) and the way the strap fits on the wrist makes the Venu 3 look odd on the wrist. Perhaps I should try the 3S.

All in all, the Garmin is not a bad choice. It is a superb watch for fitness freaks. But beware if you are used to a smartwatch with all the bells and whistles. It will be hard to make the switch. If only Apple could up its game and improve their fitness features!

Golden Review Award: 19 From Our UsersI’m not one to leave reviews, but figured I would on this one as this purchase was a tough choice for me to make. I was flipping back and forth between the Venu 3, Samsung Watch 6 classic and Samsung Watch 5 Pro. I did not consider an apple watch as I’m a Samsung phone owner.

The draw to Samsung was for the seamless connection to my phone and other Samsung products, but the draw to the Garmin Venu 3 was the battery life. Back and forth back and forth until I finally decided to go with the Garmin. I’m so happy I did, this is an amazing watch.

It’s perfect for me, I’m m Getting an amazing 10 plus days on a charge, it tracks everything seamlessly, it gives me so much information about my health and sleep patterns, it gives me all the notifications I would need, it really is perfect for me.

I’m so happy with this watch. If you’re in the fence and Battery life is part of your hang up, go with the Garmin, you will not be disappointed.

So thankful I chose the Garmin Venu 3

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersI bought this to compliment my Garmin Instinct.
I found the choice of Garmin watches quite bewildering, and am so happy with this Venu 3.

I only need basic health stuff, so this is more than good enough for me.

I have a load of watches, and this really is lovely.

    Main things I like –

Excellent battery life, easily a few days and fast to charge.

It looks sleek, good size, impressive display.

    Good loud sound and vibration.

    A great trade up.

I have a Pixel 8.pro that came bundled with the Google Watch 2. This Google watch IMHO is nowhere near as nice as the Venu. Which is why I sold it immediately to offset the cost of the Garmin.

Easy to download lots of free watch faces and stuff.

Bought this as a replacement for a TicWatch, and so far I’m impressed. Battery life blew me away, no more charging nightly. Metrics seem pretty accurate and the app/advanced metrics are FREE unlike the Pixel 2 (Fitbit).
So far the only thing I didn’t like is Garmin still uses the proprietary charging port. Why not USB C or wireless charging?

Hier muss Garmin nachbessern.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersI’ve had so many Fitbits over the years, back to the Fitbit Flex back in the day. I unfortunately ended up with more than I bargained for, however, because they kept breaking or failing so needed to be replaced all the time. Customer support was getting slower, and I became disillusioned but liked the tracking. I then tried a Pixel watch that came free with my phone. It was decent but the battery drove me insane. I thought it was time to revisit Garmin, even though I’d had this perception that the sleep tracking, app etc wouldn’t be as good.

I tried both the Venu 3 and 3S on and ended up with the 3S. They don’t actually seem hugely different in size, even on a small wrist, but there are more “dressy” options for 3S and I think the French grey I ended up with doesn’t look overly sporty. It’s very light and comfortable, with a bright and responsive screen. It’s appealing to look at and easy to use. Actions are mainly touchscreen, but with 3 buttons that can be customised.

Tracking has been great and I’ve found it very accurate so far. Sleep tracking has improved a lot since I had a Vivoactive years ago, as has the app. I really like the Body Battery for giving me an excuse to relax after some busy days, and the sleep coach is a good prompt to go to bed early.

Smart watch features are all I need from my watch – I have an Android phone so get all my notifications through, Garmin now support pictures in messages, and I can send responses if I want (I usually just wait to pick up the phone though). Garmin Pay is for select banks only, so recommend double checking if it’s a dealbreaker. For me, it was the same banks as Fitbit Pay anyway, so not an issue and easy to set up and use.

Battery life has been a huge relief after the PIxel watch. It’s stated to be 10 days for the 3S and that seems accurate – drains about 10% a day. I’m fine with a watch that I throw on charge for an hour every week or so. It’s also pretty easy (and cheap) to find spare charging cables because they’re common to other Garmin watches too. Wired charging instead of wireless feels like a non-issue when it’s infrequent.

No ECG function yet, but it has the sensor so hoping that gets activated!

Overall absolutely love it and can’t see myself going back to Fitbit/Pixel watch ever. It’s been a joy and a relief to switch!

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersAcquistato da una settimana, sono passato a questo venu 3 da un vivoactive 4. Tante novit e tante nuove funzioni utili inerenti a sonno, recupero e stress.

It might not have all the function as the more expansive Garmin Watches, but it is a great jack of all trades. It looks very good and sleek. The fitness tracking is more than enough, and it is more appropiate for people looking to do more than just one activity. All that said, for me it’s a bit on the expensive side, as all Garmin watches, but you can already easily find it with 40-50 euros off.

This is my first Garmin. have wanted a
watch with onboard GPS for years. First
I got a Garmin forerunner. It was huge so I returned it. I had a Fitbit Versa 2 for many years, which was OK, but no GPS.
Got a Galaxy Watch Active 2 as part of a phone deal, that was fine, but the battery died after less than 18 months.
Got a Fitbit Versa 4. No way would it
connect to GPS, same with the Sense 2, so both returned.
I decided to bite the bullet and lash out
more. I was looking at the Venu 2S, and then they sneaked in the Venu 3S. Dilemma! Do I get the 2S, and wish I’d got the 3S?
I got the 3S in Sage Grey, which in reality is more of a bluey duck egg colour, rather than the grey with a hint of green on the website.
The colour it is is the colour I would have picked.
It’s a good size for a smallish wrist and I haven’t charged the battery, apart from when it arrived. That’s 5 days ago, with 2 x 5km runs, and just 1 day when I was at work and can’t wear a watch. Functions are good.
I took a phone call and was heard well, and it was clear on my side. There are plenty of forums to help navigate it.
It took me a while to change the settings to kms and Celsius,
    but I found it eventually.
It’s early days but so far l’m very happy!

Golden Review Award: 13 From Our UsersI’ve been using Garmin’s watches as far back as the original Vivoactive, and most recently the Vivoactive 4. The Venu 3 is a great upgrade. The VA4’s battery was beginning to fail (needed charging every 2 or 3 days). The battery life of the V3 is impressive, and unlike the VA4 I can pair all my bike sensors (couldn’t pair my power sensor to the VA4). The AMOLED screen is beautiful and I have no problems reading it in bright sun or while I’m cycling. The additional health-based data will be useful too. All in all I’m very pleased with it!

5 Stelle
