Takes a while to understand how to make it work, but once I got the hang of it worked great.
The stabilising function is great and paired with the app that comes with it, I got compliments on my social media posts.

I generally like this gimbal. The build quality is nice, but not quite up to the standard of the bigger players in this industry. This device unfortunately doesn’t fold quite as compact as the competition either. but it is straightforward to set up, and the case keeps it protected when not in use.
The stabilisation is smooth, allowing you to create a nice cinematic effect. Battery life so far seems decent too.
The only thing that lets this down for me is that I didn’t find the accompanying app particularly intuitive, and the included instructions weren’t as clear as I would have preferred. That being said, for the majority of features, it does perform well.
Overall I do like this product. Perhaps with a software update it could be made a little easier to use.
I am still figuring out some of the functions properly as its the first one I have ever owned but that being said setting it up was incredibly easy. Recharged using a USB C cable before you use it for the first time you will need to charge it as it does not come pre charged.
Setting up my phone in the cradle depending on whether i wanted to have it mounted landscape or portrait was quite confusing the first time I used it as the instructions could have been a little clearer. However with a little time and really playing about with it I was able to find the right setup and get it stabilised properly in the end.
The battery life is fantastic I have to admit and the quality of the stabilisation is incredible. My videos look smooth and clear and am very much impressed. The other big thing for me is that the gimbal itself isnt overly heavy either! I was able to hold it for long periods of time without my arm aching or having any issues using it.
Overall Really impressed and well worth the money.
In terms of its gimbal stabilizing performance, it does the job well. It connects to the app well for full functionality. The end result is very noticeably smoother videos without any jerkiness. It’s definitely worth it for that.
However, it’s a bit on the heavy side and isn’t instant use as it takes a couple of seconds to switch on and be ready.
Compared to the DJI Osmo mobile gimbals, this is a significantly bigger object to carry around because it doesn’t fold. The DJI OM3 that I’ve used before just about fits in a large pocket when folded. With this there’s no chance of that but it does come in a nice case that keeps it well protected, which is important because I worry about the motors being damaged in a bag otherwise.
With that out of the way, everything else about it is great. It feels well made (even though it’s largely plastic), is easy to use, the app is great and it’s very good at stabilising phone video footage. If you’ve never used a gimbal before it feels like magic and you could do a lot worse than this as a starting point. The difference it makes to videos is amazing. So much more professional looking to have not only less shaky footage but also nice smooth movements when you intentionally move the camera around.
Using the Hohem app means losing access to some of my phone’s fancy built-in photography features, but it does mean that it works really well with the gimbal and for most purposes it’s perfectly good. Plus I can always switch over to the phone’s built in camera app if I do want some of the fancy features.
Fantastic value for money and a very worthwhile purchase if you want to improve the quality of your smartphone videos.
I have set this gimbal up with my iPhone 12. Download the app, and then connect via Bluetooth. The app is pretty good and has quite a lot of features that you don’t get in the native photo software with an Apple iPhone.
I find the weight really nice, but some users will possibly find it a bit on the heavier side. Battery life is awesome, but charging it is way slower than the advertised 1.5 hours. It took me nearly 2.5 hours to charge even with a fast charger (which you will need to either own one already or purchase one separately).
Using the gimbal once you have completed the intial set-up is very straightforward. The different modes are effective at what they are supposed to do, the automated tracking feature works a lot better than I was I expected, and it can track a face or other object. The zoom in and out is smooth (possibly smoother than I could do manually just using the iPhone).
The only minor negative I could find is that I found the little joystick not as responsive as I would like, it isn’t terrible by any stretch of the imagination, and it may be that I still just having got the hang of it yet.
I’ve used it for arouind 2 hours in total, and I am still finding new functions. It really is impressive, especially when considering that this is less than 100 at the time of review. I can therefore fully recommend this you.
I got a new one and everything seems to be working great so far.
The real reason this product is amazing compared to other similar ones is that it actually works liek a gimbal. All the other ones, especially at this price , do not allow you to use the Gimbal in “FlashLight” mode, where you extend the gimbal horizontally out infront of you. When you do this on other Gimbals, including isteady x2 and V2, dji, etc, the phone will point diagonally downwards rather than straight ahead. It might not seem like a big deal, but this is actually how you would want the gimal to operate, and how the much more expensive gimbals operate. Otherwise, you have to actually bend down yourself and contort into various positions to get teh actual shot. Might be good for excercise, but I don’t recmmend it.
This is more bulky than other options, but way more versatile, and when compared with other gimbals that that offer the same functinality, it is not big. Having said that, the smaller isteady x2 and v2, are so small and conveniant, however you lose some flexibility.
At this price, and for what it offers, it is 5 stars. I hope it lasts,.
This doesn’t look as slick or feel as sturdy as some ofthe kids friends have, but those ones cost more than this, which was a bit shocking for me to learn tbh – but looking around online has opened my eyes to how affordable this model actually is..
This does what it’s meant to do, with no issues arising so far. The older kids will spend hours most days creating videos and vlogs, which tend to be focused around their dancing & sport interests, so they’ve really helped me put this to the test; they’ve made full use of the fancy camera angles/zooming etc, and have not experienced a single camera-shake. They think that this is brilliant, and that the app is a “fantastic must-have” when using this.
I used it for holding my phone up during an outdoor concert [I’m short] and found the filming easy, and think that the results are brilliant. I’ve removed a star because I find the app very busy with a somewhat overwhelming number of options.
Younger people who love video creating will love this toits fullest pote the most, and are used to the style of app that accompanies this style of gimbal.

It’s really ‘strange’ when you first use this, once it’s switched on the gimbal will keep your phone really steady as you move it about – it smooths out all but the worst bumps and vibrations so that videos look very professional.
The unit comes in a protective zip-up case, in the case you get the gimbal, a USB-C charging lead and a base which turns the gimbal handle into a tripod. If you find that your phone battery is going flat, you can use the gimbal as a power bank so that you can keep videoing – that’s a very handy feature.
This gimbal stabiliser from Hohem is brilliant and I’m very pleased that I got the opportunity to review it. At the time of my review it would cost you 99, personally I think that this is a good price and one that I would be happy to pay.
