If you are looking for back lights for your TV then don’t look any were else. They are SO EASY to set up I have a 55″ curve TV and they fit well. If you watch sports they are so good for that. If you like to do a lot of gaming they are the bes
I had the previous version but this one far exceeded it.
It shows green now; if you know, you know.
The fact that one strip is now at the bottom of the TV makes a huge difference. I have the Philips hue sync box and gradient strip and find myself using this instead.
Govee customer service is superb.
Brilliant product for 41 on black Friday.extremely easy to install, connecting to WiFi and calibration via the app is easy. Works extremely effectively as an ambient addition to watching TV and works very well as a sound reactive light when gaming or listening to music.links with Google home and Alexa so you can control on/off and light brightness via Home but also by voice. Perfect fit for my 55″ TCL with room to fit a 65″ very easily. Recommended!
Very easy to install. Use the govee home app to calibrate. Had to watch a YouTube video to set up the colour balance as it was a lot of red at first. Adjusted the white balance and saturation to give a more natural look. It looks amazing
Make sure you double check the brightness & wether it’s clockwise or counterclockwise as this helps massively! Couldn’t decide on a video to upload but this was taken during the day, the brightness has to be around 30% as if it’s too high the colour at the bottom just stays red but it took a while to figure out, plus we had it counterclockwise rather than anti which made all the difference when sorted out, highly recommend & I’m still playing with setting as there’s sooooo many to choose from! By far the best thing I’ve gotten & it makes the TV pop. If in doubt just recalibrate it till you get it right & then enjoy! The music setting are really funky but you have to beware as it picks up your voice too so you can affect the light but I had fun singing & lighting it up…. definitely 10/10. Bought for a 55inch but the set up was a teeny bit too big but doesn’t affect it one bi
Excellent product, I highly recommended govee, this is about the 6th Govee product I have and second TV backlight for an additional TV. For a gaming room or any rooms makes such a difference and creates an awesome effect and atmosphere. Easy to use with the free app, I can use all my Govee products using the same app. 5*
Great product would highly recommend only thing I would complain about is lights on in a room prevent it from working properly and the colour matching at times can be pretty off, would recommend following a YouTube guide for set up as they explain things to do that improve the colour matching significantly but over all would recommend, I have put one on a 43″ tv as well, a little difficult and time consuming but does work, you will have to remove the rubber coating however which does void any warranty
Love them they are amazing my TV is a 50inch can fit on well if you over lap
Brightness is amazing
So colourful
Very easy to set up had no problems at all
Love them would definitely recommend
I have three setups using these, they’re great! Warning: before sticking the Camera on to the top or bottom of your TV check for reflections, for instance in my lounge with camera on the bottom the ceiling light causes a reflection that the camera translates into orange.
Also ensure you setup your white hue correctly.
If you’re clever you can fit this to a 48″ TV as you can see on my bedroom picture, I did this by carefully overlapping the excess strip, do this at your own risk though.
Just removed it to try and trouble shoot and now I have a line of dead pixels right in the middle of my screen! The lights came off easily but the camera was very difficult to get off, even doing it slowly and carefuly has damaged the TV. Really not happy
The camera still works and the app can connect to it, but no lights.
It used to work fine, although with a slight lag but its what to expect with the tech.
I expected it to last longer than it has though considering how much it cost!
My son wanted some responsive lights for his 43″ LG TV. He sent me a tiktok page with some product but the page had spelling errors, couldn’t find any reviews or information about the product so didn’t trust it. I had a look on Amazon and nearly all cater for 55-65″ TVs only. A few reviews of this product say it is possible to use on smaller TVs so I took the risk….
The light strip needs to be stuck to perimeter of the back of TV and to cater for smaller TV you need to create “loops” of the lighting strip on each of the four sides so it is partially stuck down and partially “free”. It looks a bit of a mess (who looks at the back?) but it actually works fine in reality. I was quite impressed with it especially in the dark.
The slight downside is the camera which I mounted on top. My son reckons you don’t notice it after a while. To calibrate the camera you (lightly) stick on some stickers around the edge of the screen and then use the app. Because the TV is less than the recommended size the calibration doesn’t work too well so you just need to get it as near as possible and go with it. WiFi is used to connect the device and the app is reasonable.
The results were pretty good despite the fact that the lighting strips look messy but are quite well hidden. The backlights certainly match the screen colours and (to me) look pretty good.
All in all it was better than I thought. If you are buying this for a smaller TV at risk then be prepared for extra work and a mess at the back of TV. There seems to be a gap in the market at this price for TVs smaller than 55″, i.e bedroom TVs.
Can’t fault govee for customer service my 1st set seemed to be faulty so they sent a 2nd set which worked! I’m fairly impressed they work well but i did expect a better experience, but still not bad.was a bit of a pain having to take tv back down to fit new lights .
Bought as part of Christmas gift for my partner, the lights work great, easy to install, hard part being the placing of the included foam blocks used to calibrate the camera but with a tape measure you can manage it easy enough.
Lights and brightness can be changed via app or voice control through Alexa (assuming it works the same with the Google devices too but wouldn’t know as we don’t have one), if you want to change light modes (just a solid light, painted lights, react to screen or react to sound) you can only do this via the app, unless there’s a way Alexa will change it for you that we haven’t discovered yet. This isn’t a major issue though, especially if you’re going on the app to do custom light painting anyways, that being said….
You can ‘paint’ lights in custom designs/configurations, it’s dimmable, I’ve got used to my partner telling her Alexa to ‘turn TV light to 10%’ before she goes to bed.
Reaction times…..spot on. Both to music/sound and to what the TV display has in it, colours are accurate and fast changing, no lagging between the colour on the screen and what colour the lights change to, the reaction to music is really fast and accurate too. It will change the colours when you pause the music and have a conversation too which is a bit annoying but that is user error, just goes to show how sensitive the mic is!
All in all, it’s a great TV light setup, you forget the camera is hanging over the TV and eventually you don’t notice it after a few days of use. My only issue would be my missus using it as a night light, I prefer to sleep in complete darkness
I have to say I ordered this then after thinking what are you doing it’s a gimmick so went to cancel it but it was to late, well how wrong I was it works really well I have a 55 inch tv in the corner of the room, and the diffents it makes is amazing for them big films and the like,my wife when I told her I was getting it said of course you are its a gadget, but when she watched it in action said, its actually very good and for things like this she’s a hard audiences, one thing I will say is take your time setting it up watch youtib vids, the setup is the key
I bought this product because I didn’t just want a set colour LED light on my TV. I wanted the light to adapt and replicate the colours that are on screen. The set up is pretty simple and the adhesive on the lights is very good. The camera sensor you adhere to the top or bottom of the screen has moved slightly due to the adhesive pulling away, but after re setting this, it seems to be fine now. The app you use to control the LEDs is excellent and is often updated. I do recommend setting the saturation of the lights to very low (about 3%) as this seems to capture the colours far more accurately. Any higher and it get the wrong colours, for example green on the screen would shine red from the LEDs. one more note, and this may be person dependant. but when the lights are on, it feels like the picture on screen is of a higher quality. This was the case for me and it could be due to the eyes not having to deal with contrast between the screen and it’s surroundings.
I bought the 55-65 version for a 55 Samsung TV. The light stripe fit exactly on each edge which means the the cable part between each strip sticks out. I’ve managed to twist the cable to hide it behind the TV. I didn’t bother to check the sizes so probably my own fault.
The tip of my TV was really thin so I actually attached the camera to the bottom of my TV. This also works well for me as it is then hidden behind my sound bar and not sticking out at the top. There’s even an option when you calibrate it to tell the app you’re using the camera at the bottom. Another issue with my TV is the the legs are flush to it on the back at the bottom. This meant I had to curve the cable around the top of them. The lights still seem to work well though.
I was struggling with the calibration to being with but that was all my own fault again. The first time I set up up with the TV on when it needs to be off. Then I realised that when it asks if you did the cables clockwise or anticlockwise, it means as you look at the back but I was doing it as I was looking at the front.
The colours do work well but when I used a test video on YouTube it struggled on the blue and green split and chose purple instead of blue. Beyond that it’s good. On the weather forecast you can even see the blue cold weather moving up the sides which is a little depressing! Hoping to see the red a bit more soon!
It works. Though It needs to be wall mounted TV for optimum effect else colour may blend and begin producing slightly off white tainted colour match.
Tip. Use masking tape on tv then use blocks as glue on blocks it very sticky and will gum up tv.
I did think this was one continuous strip which would have made install alit better instead on a 50″ the sections tend to overlap.
The music effect are a total amount of 4. Truly a disappointing aspect. Others have significantly more (wled) .
It does add another layer to your TV experience. Just needs a little fine tuning after install once you understand what it’s doing..
Also don’t have any bright light sources in view of the camera, direct or indirect as the strip will try to show it.
I’d like another one of these or something to compliment its use and function but for free so if govee or amazon could see a way of doing that I’d appreciate it as it a little pricey at this time and economy.
They say if you don’t ask you won’t get. Just like to know if they even care or notice the little guy. … Amazon? Govee? I’m asking.!! Lol
First thing I’ll say is, if you own a LG OLED TV you will struggle to install this. Its certainly do-able but the webcam doesn’t account for slim TVs which is really bizarre. I saw many people negatively review the adhesion but i honestly didnt have an issue. One part of the LEDs did come off due to one of the little clips drying out. But they give you so many spare ones I just replaced it and everything was ok. I think they need to find another way for the webcam to see the tv. Maybe make it wireless somehow or allow us to tilt the head of the webcam to perfect it (i fitted the webcam to the bottom of my tv since its huge). Installing and setting up the app on my phone was really easy, same with Alexa (Alexa is amazing with this product). The colours are great, i have a white wall. But i would say it’ll likely look better if your TV is flat to the wall to help the light travel further. The movie/game modes are nice although i found the colours to be a tiny bit off sometimes and there’s a slight delay which is a little distracting for me. Music mode is fun but i haven’t properly used it yet. I personally just like a fixed backlight and i just ask alexa to change the colour depending on the vibe. Overall, it’s not perfect but I’m happy i got it.
I recently had to get my broken Philips TV replaced under warranty and unfortunately another Philips wasn’t an option so I had to lose their signature Ambilight feature which I absolutely loved. It added so much to the experience, lighting envelops the whole room, atmospheric colours spreading over the back wall. The impact of lightning, explosions, fire or flashing lights was extra immersive for movies and gaming.
I looked into the options of replicating this for my new LG TV, which at the time were basically this device and the Philips Hue back-light which can be added to any TV by buying several devices adding up to an absolutely eye-watering amount of money. This includes buying the HDMI sync box, which cripples the HDMI capability (it is only compatible with HDMI 2.0, which means a lot of modern standards are out of the window) and doesn’t allow for non-HDMI content, such as the TV’s built-in smart functions or Freeview channels. Plus, I can’t stress this enough, the price of this is ridiculous, you would be talking several hundred pounds, more than some TVs.
I was initially put off the Govee Immersion by the antenna-like camera which looked pretty noticeable in every picture, and not something I was eager to ruin the aesthetics of the TV with. I was also a bit apprehensive about the colour accuracy too, which came up in a few reviews and pictures. I happened to see a review which mentioned there was a recent update which meant the camera could now be mounted at the bottom of the TV, which got me thinking about ways to hide it. Then I happened across a Youtube video which did exactly that. Added to this I noticed 20 quid had been knocked off the RRP so I decided to go for it.
Setup was ok, I found it easy enough but the corners were a bit messy. I ended up using black electrician-tape to stick the looped corner wires down. Instead of sticking the camera on the TV itself I managed to hide it a bit using a small black box on my TV stand. The lens can still see the TV but the camera is quite incognito.
To calibrate the camera you’re provided with some adhesive red foam cubes to stick in the corners and edges of the TV for the camera to recognise the boundaries. I didn’t like the idea of sticking things to my TV screen but thankfully somebody had uploaded a video on Youtube which you can use to do the same thing (a static white screen with red squares in the corners/edges to replicate the stickers).
Once everything is set up, using the downloadable phone app, you’re up and running. There are several settings on the app and as well as having the lights react to the screen you can have static colours, animated colours and also audio-reactive colours as well. You can set timers and schedules as well.
The lights react very quickly to the screen content, I don’t notice any discernible lag. The colour accuracy is hit and miss. Sometimes the lights favour extremes, so they’ll often show red/green/blue rather than a more nuanced colour. It’s weird, because you can often see what you’d expect the correct colours to be being shown on other occasions. Setting the saturation to its lowest setting (don’t worry, this is still in colour) and lowering the brightness setting does help a bit, but it’s weird to see, for example, pale orange show as bright red sometimes but accurately pale orange other times.
Overall, this is a good, affordable alternative to Ambilight/Hue and I would recommend. It’s a couple of niggles away from being perfect but it should still greatly enhance most people’s viewing experiences.
