This is probably the third mount I’ve bought, the others either wouldn’t fit in my vents properly, or the magnet was so weak it wouldn’t hold up my phone.
No issues at all with this one. The clip that goes into the vent is very thin so will fit in even very finicky vents with tight spacing, but the clip is metal and not even remotely flimsy.
It comes with two 3M plates to attach to your phone or the inside of your phone case and the magnet is nice and strong. The surface is also rubberized which keeps my phone nice and stable. It’s easy to adjust but the long and short of it is it installs really easily, holds even larger, heavier phones securely and stays were you put it.
The magnetism on this is immensely strong. There is no danger of your phone falling off. We used this mount on a pre-magsafe iPhone and therefore had to attach one of the included magnetic disks/squares on the existing phone case. I was a little worried this may interfere with the wireless charging but it seems not to have affected anything so far. The mount itself if a simple affair, but is on a ball joint to allow you to change the angle at which your phone is held. It clamps onto an air-vent and can be tightened up as needed.
The magnet with sticky tape fits on the back of your phone. Two magnets for two phones, one rectangle, one circle. My phone is a relatively small Google pixel 4a and the rectangular magnet fits perfectly.
Magnet is super-strong. This is a small device so doesn’t take up room around your dashboard, and yet it’s sturdy enough. My last one often fell off the vents but this one stays put.
Instructions could have been included.
I really like this compact phone car mount holder because it feels and looks well-built and robust. The magnetic air vent holder easily slid and was secured tightly into my air vent. Apart the magnetic holder, the pack also includes 2 metal plates (one round, one rectangle) to attach to your phone cover case or phone directly depending on your set up. The magnetic holder will attract the plate on your phone.
I really appreciate the convenience of just placing my phone onto the holder without any fuss. I’ve had holders in the past where I’ve had to physically clamp my phone which is both fiddly and time consuming. This adjustable holder is more user friendly and gives total freedom to move my phone left, right, up or down, tilt and turn. The versatile position possibilities are endless.
I would say that this mount offers excellent value for money providing a hands-free solution while driving. It’s been an upgrade to my previous set up and adds an extra level of convenience and versatility to my daily commute to work.
My old basic magnet died and this one is already beating it hands down.
The magnet strength is a lot stronger – old one would drop mine if I went over any bumps (lining in an area with a plentiful array of pot holes isn’t fun) – this one keeps a nice firm grip of my phone.
I haven’t used supplied magnets as already have one on my phone case but both shapes look like they’d work on a variety of phone styles.
Easy to put together and clip in the heater.
It feels quite sturdy and easy to adjust the angle.
I like the little cable clip and find that really handy as it keeps the cable out of the way of my hand real and gear stick.
All round winner for me and very happy to have the phone/sat nav etc safely in view again. I’m getting one for the chap now as he doesn’t have one at all
Having accepted that my phone is actually better than a dedicated sat nav I mostly have it sliding around on the passenger seat, relying on the verbal instructions as I can’t see the screen. Finally though I have found something to solve the problem, and it does is so elegantly too. As the picture shows it attaches to the vent by use of a metal hook thing, which you tighten with a screw thread, it’s all very neat and secure The package comes with two metal plates which you stick to the back of your phone allowing it to sit neatly on the holder. It even works through my phone case though obviously not so securely. So far I’m very happy with it and with so little to go wrong I don’t anticipate having to replace it any time soon either. One additional thoughtful touch is that there is a cable clip on the back of the holder which helps keep your charging cable out of the way if you need to have it plugged in.
Initially I struggled to get this device to fit my car vent, but soon realised you have to rotate the middle section like a screw to extend the hook part to fit wider vents, so I think it will fit most if not all cars. You also have to attach a magnet sticker to your phone to get it to attach to the mount-there are two in the pack, one round and one rectangular. The magnet itself is pretty strong and holds the phone well. If you tighten the part of the mount nearest the phone, it will hold the mount in the position you want your phone too. I guess the only downside is that it doesn’t have the ability to charge the phone from the mount itself, but that’s not a deal breaker, otherwise it does what it’s intended for perfectly. Pretty good for 9.99 at the time of review. Five stars.
This phone mount was a perfect replacement for the mount I had taking up window space. It fit nicely and can be adjusted to the right angle and position you need. So easy to put your phone on it with the magnet.
Arrived in small box with easy quick assembly. There are 2 magnets to sick to phone, i choose the round magnet. Easy to attach to car vent and turn dial to tighten so it fits securely. The magnet has adhered firmly to my phone. The magnetic pull from the mount and phone is very strong and holds my phone in place whilst driving.
This phone holder comes in a small box and is easy to put together. It fastens to the car air vent and feels very secure once tightened. Although the case of the phone I attached is a wallet style, not the clear back protection type, it still worked well.
There’s a choice of two magnets, a circular or rectangular. In this case I fit the rectangular magnet to the back of the phone case and if the wallet flap is left open you can still answer or make calls using voice commands and use your maps function.
Much easier and quicker to attach than the ‘grippy arm’ type of holdersimply grab your phone and go!!
I had got a magnetic ring for the back of my Samsung phone to use with a car mount, but the magnet wasn’t strong enough. This kit came with a few different magnetic patches. I stuck the round one to the back of my phone, and it attaches to the phone mount very securely, no worries that it is going to fall off.
The only problem is that it now won’t work with my wireless charger. I may have to remove the magnet from the phone, and put it on the removable case, so that I can remove it for charging.
Although similar to several other vent-mount magnetic phone holders, the GradCap is different in a few ways that I think give it an edge over the competitors. Firstly, something that is obvious from the box in which it arrives, is its compactness. The box is tiny. this is possible because the fixed part of the mount with the ball joint, which is attached to the car, is much slimmer than others I have tried. The knurled plastic nut that is turned to tighten the mount onto a ventilator fin does not offer quite such a sure grip and it does not click, but it seems to work just as well as fatter versions. I have shown the difference in one of the photos. There are no lugs to locate the body on the vent, just a rubber pad and the hook, which in this case is metal. It closes down to about 10mm, as is typical, but which prevents it working on some of my Jeep’s vents, which are too shallow. It did fit the moving outer vents, though, thanks to the thin hook. The makers claim this will fit the majority of cars, something I can’t verify.
The mount is nicely made, from hard plastic, with glossy and satin finishes and no nasty casting flash or other defects. I like the transparent surround to the magnetic pad, and the provision of a clip for the charging wire. The ball joint operates smoothly but doesn’t lock tight. Two different adhesive metal plates are provided for attaching to phone or phone case. I didn’t use these, because I already had some fitted from other mount kits, but I am sure they are just as effective. The magnetic force should be sufficient to hold most lightweight devices with solid plates, but circular rings ones might not be secure enough on their own.
The screw adjustment on this mount makes it easy to secure on your car vents.
The magnets hold very well, and I’ve not had any worries about the phone falling off.
I do have an extended battery pack on my iPhone, so it is a lot heavier than most, and I’ve no worries about it coming off.
I have set this in car magnetic phone holder up to hold my iPhone 14, whilst driving, and have found it just the job A lot quicker and easier than faffing around trying to squeeze my phone into some sort of padded vice
I have installed this in my little hatchback and it was easy once I figured out that the back mounting section arm extended if you turn it. I managed to get it fitted and my phone adheres to it very well. Just need to test it on a drive out to see how wobbly it is! Good value for money though.
This car phone holder from GradCap is all about simplicity and reliability:
Pros:
Strong Magnet: With 4 strong N52 magnets, your phone stays securely in place even on bumpy roads. It won’t weaken your phone’s signal, and the rubberized surface prevents scratches. Works great with magnetic phone cases.
Easy Installation: The Twist-To-Lock Mechanism lets you install it in a minute. It’s compatible with most car air vents and offers 360 rotation for the perfect angle.
Metal Hook Clip: The Metal Hook Clip ensures your phone stays firmly on the air outlet blades, so it won’t fall off in any road conditions.
Wide Compatibility: It works with 99% of car air vent outlets (Mazda 6 and Ford here) and can hold most 4~6″ smartphones, including popular models like iPhone and Samsung, no issues with One Plus 8t.
In short, if you need a reliable and versatile car phone holder, this one’s got you covered. It’s simple to install, securely holds your phone, and works with a wide range of devices. Plus, it comes with a warranty for added peace of mind. Please note, it does not work for MagSafe.
Not a very big magnetic phone holder for the car but works quite well. Easy to latch onto the air vent and your phone stays in place via the magnets provided.
I find it hard to get a phone holder for my car, which has vertical vents.
It seems the majority of cars have horizontal vents so most phone holders do not work for me.
This little hook design can be extended out and hooked on, then be tightened to the vent securely.
Now I just hope the magnetic holds up well.
Small minimal design.
After ordering, I did panic as I thought this may not be compatible with my phone but I really didn’t need to.
Whilst my phone doesn’t have any mag-tech, the package comes with 2 handy metal tabs that stick to the back of your phone and it attaches perfectly, even with my standard phone cover back in place.
The device itself has an adaptable hook that winds out to fit into your air-vent and can then be tightened back to fit securely. This does exactly what I wanted and I’m happy with the product.
As is the case with a lot of these types of products, it arrives in bits and there are no instructions telling you how to assemble it, but luckily it’s simple and even I didn’t have any problems! It clips together and there are a couple of bits that screw on and tighten so you can set this in the position you want. It very easily attaches to the air vents in the car, and it sticks out far enough the phone so the lip on top of the vent area doesn’t get in the way. There are three different magnetic plates included which are square, round and rectangular. I have an iPhone plus but the square magnet works fine and seems big enough to support the weight of the phone. Paired with the coiled charger which I also ordered, it’s a really good and safe arrangement in the car for my phone. I would definitely recommend this.
