Desk mounting clamp:
This is what monitor arms should be. Lets start with the reason I bought it, the desk mounting clamp. Compared to almost every other monitor arm, this has zero under table foot print, which I needed because I have a cable tray back there. The clamping screw is accessable from the top of the clamp and works the same was a bench vice, why more arms dont use this method is beyond me.
Weight support:
Then lets talk about the supported monitor weight, unlike every other monitor arm this one actually did work as advertised. I in fact had to wind down the preload on the arm. I have tested 6.7 & 8.3 kg monitors and they were supported effortlessly.
Rigidity:
This is also perfect imho, during normal work at my desk the monitor does not move or wobble. In fact even if I bang the table the occilation are almost unoticable and dissapear with a second or two.
Range of movement:
This is perfect and the plastic grub screws that adjust the resistance rotation on the 2 large vertical pivots isthe only thing I would complain about. But even then its not really an issue for me atleast as I I set the monitor in position and leave it there. Basically to get decent resistance, you have to tighten the little screws almost all the way. But doing so results in tight spots where the arm/s have tight spots at the very end of the travel, so like I say not an issue for me, and for many people I would surmise.
Quick release bracket:
And then onto the quick release 100*100 vesa bracket, its simple and but effective, and makes getting the monitor on and off so easy, its hilarious. One hand holding the monitor and the other on the arm, in and out in 5 seconds.
Pivot/Tilt:
The pivot/tilt point clamp is also as rigid and sturdy as all the other user adjustable movement points on this arm, adjust the tilt, tighten and forget, just the way its supposed to be.
And lastly some of the eagle-eyed among you will spot the custom thumscrews I have on the vesa bracket. I bought these on amazon as I wanted everything about removing the monitor to be tool-less – https://www.amazon.co.uk/PrecisionGeek-Black-Knurled-Shoulder-Screws/dp/B0BFG6ZFR9/ref=sr_1_48?crid=3RCB9CKEX9OTR&keywords=m4+thumb+screw&sprefix=M4+THUMB%2Caps%2C84&sr=8-48
For the price, this is an excellent arm for ultra-wide monitors. I found the installation to be quite easy and hassle free. And I trust it with my 49″ OLED G9.
The gas springs perform well. The only negative would be the tilt mechanism; it is quite fiddly to get right but as long as you have someone holding the monitor whilst you’re tightening you’ll be fine.
I suspect this monitor will be fine for a 1000R curve but will require extra tightening.
Didn’t want to spend almost 300 for ergotron, there was other 120 one that people recon it works with samsung G9, but you have to tighten pivot bolt super super tight and it’s a struggle. Well here you have no such thing. Yes you have to lock pivot hinge but it’s normal bolt tightening, everything else works great with oddysey 49″ (super curved one). It costs fraction of others. Very happy with it.
first thing. if you intend to drill through your desk like me (my desk is wall mounted), you will need to have the mounting plate about 4 inches right from center. as when the screen is pushed all the way back it moves to the right of the mounting plate.
some of the bolts are so tight that it is not possible to untighten without a good amount of strength and a good allen key, as the one supplied was too soft. especially the bolt that ajust the tension of hight ajustment. i am a wieght lifter and consider myself quite strong. i was scared of do-threading the bolt i had to put so much power into it.
before adding the mounting bracket to the back of the screen, be absolutley sure that the screws are not too long, as you could damage the screen behind it.
anyhow other than the faff, i rate this quite highly the usb extentions are a nice touch. and for the price i am very happy. and quite easy to install. makes my desk much easyer to keep tidy
Paid 40 and very happy at the price. My monitor is 38″ and 10kg. Many stands aren’t specified to carry this size/weight. This one is specified much higher and having installed it I’m satisfied that it carries my monitor with ease and could handle much heavier with no problem (on install it was constantly lifting the monitor upwards so I had to adjust the gas lift down – so clearly it can do well above 10kg)
Seems pretty good quality – solid build. Can’t comment on longevity as only just installed it, but initial impression is spot on!
Recommended, especially at this price!
I am very happy with my purchase of this heavy duty monitor arm. My screen size is 40 inches, the monitor arm works trouble free. The price point should be way more for the quality and performance on offer. Thank you!
