This is just a USB port switch but came in very handy when I needed to switch between my laptop and my desktop. I just used my monitors select feature to switch displays around, better for gaming!
After my work switched to using a laptop instead of cloud based VDI, I struggled with the issue of not wanting to continuously unplug my monitor and wireless mouse/keyboard from my home pc to use with the laptop. This switch solved all my problems and I was very pleased to see it also came with all the wires required and no installation needed! Initially I was struggling to get the monitor to work but it wasn’t long until I realised one of the cables wasn’t fully inserted so was able to fix this easily.
Excellent little box. Much smaller than I expected but the quality is good, picture is stable and works great all day. Perfect for if you have two PCs with one monitor or if you work from home and want to easily plug in a laptop to your home PC’s monitor without messing around with the cables under the desk every time. Just plug the USB and HDMI cables into your laptop, press the button to switch sources and away you go!
Great bit of kit – just a word of warning to anyone buying this – you need to plug in a usb lead as well as HDMI from each of the PCs so use the supplied cables. I was under the impression the USB leads were for something else and was wondering why my mouse and keyboard weren’t working – silly me! So yeah just in case someone like me doesn’t realise that! Cracking bit of kit and works well!
I’ve been using the KVM for a week or two now. I’ve had no issues whatsoever with its operation. I have my screens, keyboard, mouse and camera connected, with no issues to report.
The setup does take a bit of thought, especially getting the correct cables for screens, but once drawn on paper, it was quite easy in the end.
The little cabled remote switch for the KVM itself means the actual device can reside out of sight, once connections have been made.
All in all, good value.
I don’t have a baby, but if I did this product would double as an excellent nightlight. The button is incredibly (and unnecessarily) bright. It’s certainly handy to know which laptop I’m controlling but I don’t need to be able to stand at the end of my garden and see which it is through an upstairs window.
Beyond that it’s a good little product. 3 months in, No issues.
my old switch has been dodgy for a while and I now have three PCs so it was probably time to get a new one.
the switch is very robust and lets me swap mouse, keyboard and printer from machine to machine at the touch of a button.
Great product -the only one I could find at descent price and able to work with at least my 3 computers.
So happy with it – I can now use my mouse and keyboard on 3 different conputers
Does exactly what is needs to do without the bank breaking costs of some solutions. My Keyboard and Mouse are now easily switched between my 3 different PC’s without the lag and complexity of Mouse Without Borders (especially with work laptop) and the cost of other pro solutions. Shame I didn’t write this review within 7 days to extend my warranty. Also the LED could be just a little brighter.
A much smaller unit than I expected – just 10 X 7 cm – which is great as it takes up almost no space. Described as plug-and-play and it is exactly that. I have just two PCs sharing keyboard, mouse and headset (not the maximum 4 that this can handle). Took me about 3 minutes to plug everything in (four cables were included as expected – only needed to use two) and everything worked first time. I now no longer need to disconnect/reconnect my three USB devices when switching between home and work computer. Very low price but build quality seems good. 5 stars from me!
I bought this product as I wanted to share keyboard and mouse on 3 devices. It works. I pushed a bit further and tried to connect my speakers, this did not work for me, no sound at all.
it works as advertised. Compatible with xbox series x, windows devices and ipad pro but i dont have mac os device to test. I wish it has separate buttons for each channel. For example to switch from second pc to first pc you have to switch to 3 and 4 and 1. It is a bit annoying if your working between only 2 pc for that time.
Just connect up to four computers using the cables provided. Ignore the booklet – add up to three in/out devices and use the push button on the top to cycle through each computer. It remembers the last computer selected and works well. Just one more good thing that I’ve found out – if you have a digital to analogue sound convertor (I have the Dragon Fly Red Dragon) that means you can push your sound out through that as well. I’m using a Pi400 and 3 PCs, all very successfully.
Arrived quickly, nice compact size, includes relevant cables and is working fine for the keyboard and mouse I’ve tested.
The device is passive and pulls power from USB port so no extra power required which is handy. Switching between the 4 ports is quick and simple.
Only criticism is the build quality, it feels a bit cheap and has a slightly rough feel to a couple of edges which could affect logivety but you can’t complain for the price.
Shame it’s not USB3. It’s fine for Keyboard and mouse switching which was the main reason for purchasing. I use it in conjunction with a 2 way USB3 switch for webcam mic etc to the 2 main PCs.
I use this USB switch to connect my keyboard & mouse to my PC, Raspberry PI and work laptop, it works great, and saves loads of desk space, I should have brought one ages ago. I switch the video on my monitor, and this ensures there are no video issues which seem to be common in the cheaper KVMs.
It’s a decent USB switch, but the switch only moves in one direction so if you want to switch from port 2 to port 1 you press three times. Not a big deal, and for the price hard to complain. Saved me from having multiple keyboards and mice taking up space.
Don’t often write reviews but this deserves one. I have 3 machines – a Windows PC, a Windows laptop and a Mac. My single monitor has a video port for each of these three devices so changing devices I have to switch the video input (obviously) – as well as press the button on this USB switch selector (for keyboard and mouse) – it all works perfectly (my mouse is cordless as well so there is a wireless dongle in one of the switch output ports). The only criticism is that the LED telling you what usb input (computer) is selected is very small – you can only see it clearly when you are looking directly at the device – I mounted mine facing me on my monitor stand – but I suppose you could just press the button changer in sequence and move your mouse at the same time until you see your mouse moving. Saves you about 400 compare to a full blown KVM switch. I can’t speak highly enough of this thing.
I got this to share the same usb mouse and keyboard on PC, laptop, raspberry pi and Xbox so I didn’t need to keep unplugging and plugging in the usb dongle. There are four cables provided which are very good length and the device is self powered. It is not self switching but don’t really care because you just press a button to swap. Very pleased with it.
– my Windows 10, and Linux and my work laptop. I was tired of plugging in and unplugging the USB tech from one computer to an other, and wondered if I would damage the connectors. The USB switch selector is ideal. USB wireless mouse and keyboard, webcam and finally headset – works on all three computers with just a flick of a switch.
I bought this switch selector to use in a work environment whereby I have 2 desktop computers and laptop.
The desktop computers share a wireless keyboard and mouse and I was constantly moving the USB receiver between these. It was a little inconvenient. Then to add to this, the keyboard on my laptop stopped working and although I replaced this, the fault was not cleared.
I saw this switch as a potential solution to the constant moving of the USB receiver between all 3 devices.
I unboxed the switch selector and thought that it both looks and feels like a quality piece of kit and it was a bonus that it came with the required USB cables to attach the other devices.
When I plugged it in the devices each picked it up without issue and my problem was solved.
It does the job it sets out to do without any fuss or drama. I couldn’t be happier with my purchase.
If you have a work laptop and your own computer/laptop then you may well use a separate mouse and keyboard but don’t want to keep on having to switch them each time so thanks to this switcher you can connect the same things to both devices and simply switch to using them on the device you need to use when it is time. Thanks to this I have managed to have one mouse and keyboard used for the 2 different laptops I have to use, my work one and my personal one.
Works a treat but needs to be able to tell which ports are connected to avoid switching through empty channels which can get a little tiresome..
Minor gripe but loses a star for that reason only.
Spent a rather frustrating morning with this, only finally realise that while the switch worked fine, one of the supplied cable USB B-A cables was faulty. Fortunately I have plenty of spares. Very glad I went with this model and not its rivals, which use significantly harder-to-come-by USB A-A cables
I bought this unit to use the same keyboard and mouse between a Windows 10 PC and a Linux Mint PC. The unit is supplied with 4 USB cables to connect it a PC/Laptop. I only have two PCs but I connected the 2 spare input ports to the same PCs alternately i.e. port 1 = Windows 10, port 2 = Linux Mint, port 3 = Windows 10 and port 4 = Linux Mint. This configuration enables me to toggle between the 2 PCs when I push the button.
I have this unit connected to 2 Macs and 1 new Pc. it has given me 3 extra ports, you gain 1 more if like me you use a keyboard with a usb out for your mouse, it works flawlessly with the 2 Macs. but the Pc sometimes there is a 5 sec delay before it connects, hence the reduced star. I understand that it may be my system and not the unit. But i would not hesitate to recommend it.
The device works well, but could be better in one respect. It should automatically detect which of the PC ports are connected and the button should select between the connected ports only and exclude the others. E.g. if only two PCs are connected then the button should just toggle between those two with a single press. This should be simple to implement based on which ports are delivering power. I’m using it with only two PCs at present, which means that I have to press the button three times to switch from PC2 back to PC1! I realize that the product description does not specifiy the behaviour in this regard, but nonetheless I was rather disappointed and regard it as a design flaw.
The unit itself is great value, my only complaint being that the LED indicators could be a tad bit brighter.
I didn’t expect the unit to come with 4 USB cables which would make it even better value, however, they are extremely low quality and slip out of the computer’s USB port very easily.
Excellent way to connect 4 computers to one keyboard and mouse. One USB cable goes to each computer you’re connecting and I have a wired keyboard and wireless mouse connected to use through the switch.
The only negative I have is that the light that denotes which channel is connected is a little dull and difficult to see unless your sitting over it. Yes, you’ll end up with cables popping out of the box and I haven’t found a way to make it look neat, but it’s perfect to control four computers.
**One thing I will say is that it is described as a KVM switch – It only switches Keyboard and Mouse – it DOES NOT switch video (the V part of KVM meaning Video) so if you’re looking to share a screen, you should look elsewhere.
