This laptop will be incredibly slow UNLESS YOU TURN OFF S MODE ON WINDOWS 11 !!!
Once you do that it’s very fast and snappy turning a pretty much unusable laptop into a highly efficient office workhorse.
Do it now if you’re experiencing sluggish performance
Okay her is my experience after 24 hours. The laptop arrived on time very well packed and looked very nice for the money. Upon startup it was very sluggish as it began downloading numerous updates to the Win 11 S version OS so I just left it to run for a couple of hours doing this. As others have commented the processor and RAM were at 100% utilisation and the laptop near unusable during this period. After the updates were finished things were much better but not perfect. I then changed from the S version of 11 to the standard version and immediately the laptop became very responsive and has been working excellently since then (type S mode into the search function on the laptop screen to find out how to do this). Lenovo has hit the low price nail right on the head with this Lappy and I would highly recommend – the only question being reliability in the longer term ? I will let you know if I experience problems later but assuming it lasts this is all the laptop 90% of us would ever need for day to day use on the internet. Excellent job Lenovo.
My old laptop top died on me so I decided to invest on a new one. Visited currys did’nt see anything within my price range and they probably
talked about extended expensive warrenty luckly none of the staffed asked if i wanted any help so i did’nt bother. Then I’ve seen this one I was a bit doubtful and ordered it anyway. It took me all evening to set up and
eventually got there. Little bit slow but not as slow as my old one in fact I’m quite impressed still early days and I’m happy also added Norton to be on the safe side
A reasonable screen considering the price and would not be difficult to carry all day.
I am not really a typical user , all I wanted was a portable Windows laptop to run some Morse Code training program so I could take it in garden etc.
Have been Mac for well over a decade and only had some old Win 7 desktop hulks in attic !
Ok, first of all, the delivery time was excellent, no complaints there. And actually, so far, I have little complaints EXCEPT the delete button is NEXT to the POWER button and the backspace button is UNDERNEATH the POWER button so yeah, I’ve turned the damn thing off a number of times now attempting to delete something – really annoying. And the other niggle is usually CTRL + END takes you to the end of the text or page, but no, not on this baby where you have to hold CTRL + Fn + END, and I can see no good reason for this.
Other than those annoyances, so far it has good battery life and I’m mostly happy with my purchase.
Things to note – RAM cannot be upgraded on this model (at 4GB) BUT it seems to run okay though on this streamlined version of Windows 11 S… and I was actually quite impressed by the speed. Also note there is only just under 20GB on the 64GB solid state hard drive after all the standard installed stuff. Should be enough for my child’s school projects and watching videos etc… they are not a gamer so the low spec shouldn’t be an issue, at least till it gets sat on/broken 🙂
