I recently changed roles which mean more commuting by train. I was using a rucksack that I’ve had force few years. A few months in I started to get lower back pain.
A few days of using this and my back pain has gone.
Plus it’s a great bag, like the section for my lunch.
This is a bit of an unusual laptop bag, in that it has a food compartment.
Quite ideal for commuting while bringing lunch or storing in a hurry food and drinks from a coffee shop.
Once closed the compartment does not leak and is completely separated from the other sections.
It can keep things warm or cold a bit longer than a normal pocket also.
The bag itself is extremely spacious, and I was able to store in it two 15 inch laptops and relative accessories with a lot of room to spare.
For this reason is also a bit bulky.
The zippers are decent and large. Not the best I have ever seen, but good enough.
Sufficiently padded.
A good option for commuting.
Perhaps a bit bulky and not as stylish as some others, but it is very practical and, at 30, quite well priced.
his is my 2nd purchase from this company and again delighted with product. The added compartment for food is ideal! It is also insulated!!Going to buy again if have the colour I am looking for.
Absolutely loads of space (on a par with othersimilar sized 35L backpacks). There’s adequate padding for transporting a laptop. Plenty of compartments with more than enough room for an A4 for and several books, and the insulated front pocket for stashing cold drinks or a packed lunch is genius. I had ordered this for myself for work but it’s that good that my daughter made a very convincing case for her needing it for school, so it’s now her school bag!
This is a really spacious backpack, lots of room for everything you need – a cool storage area for lunch. At the current price of 30, decent enough value for money too.
I really like this. Been using this every week going on picnics with kids. Fits in food and toys. Great price for quality. Zips are strong, stitching is beautiful with no imperfections. I guess straps could be more padded but they are comfortable still.
While not the most comfortable or stylish the added benefits of a cold storage compartment that’s big enough for a full work lunch and snacks.
Fabric feels strong and tough wearing, the shoulder straps are a little rigid for my liking but I’m use to using a premium brand laptop bag for work.
The quality of this bag is a lot better than I expected, and the addition of the insulated pouch on the front is really handy for carrying your sandwiches or lunch (also note there is bottle pockets on the side). The sticking seems of good quality and I don’t expect there to be any issues with the lining or straps coming away. The back large pocket can fold completely open as the zip cover the full sides and top. And there is a nice pocket on the back panel which could be used for secure items like passport etc… There is a USB-A extension cable from inside the large front pocket to a plug on the outside which is useful when you need to charge whilst travelling, also the back has a strap which allows you to slide it over the handle of a wheely suitcase handle.
The video goes into much more detail, including overview of all the pockets and testing out the charge port.
However, in a nutshell:
Things I liked:
+ Really good idea – insulated pocket for food/drinks, additional pockets for other stuff.
+ Great range of pockets. Well made too.
+ USB port works pretty well, only a small amount of power lost from using it (see the end of the video).
Things I didn’t like:
– Matein have gone over the top with their branding – a small logo here or there is fine, but all the pockets are lined with the Matein brand name.
Do I recommend it?
Yes, definitely. What we’ve found it good for is taking a small picnic out – there’s room in the backpack for everything you normally need to take with you (picnic blanket, tissues, power bank etc). but importantly, your picnic can be in there with them. While the insulated pocket isn’t massive (it’d be perfect for a picnic for two), it means you don’t have to put a separate coolbag into your backpack, which is what we had been doing because coolbags are a pain to carry any sort of real distance. Great solution to the coolbag carrying conundrum!
I like this backpack I really do. It is a 3 in one type of deal where you can insert your lunch, your notes from work and other items such as a flashlight, keys, snacks and extra battery for your phone or other items that functions just like a bag. The cons would be that the insulation isn’t seal proof. It can seep out where the two zippers meet. It still keeps everything cool for a few hours though. The thing I dislike about it the most is that if take out your lunch and you have some heavy items in the main pouch (the middle section) it can shift things around and block you from putting anything in the insulated part in the front. It can push things under it or above it because the front insulation isn’t lined with a hard plastic. To solve this I wish they would’ve just stitched the middle pouch so it lays right on top of the lunch compartment. That would save you from taking out your lunch to reach the items that fell inside. It’s almost like when you lose your quarters in between the couch.
MATEIN Lunch Backpack, 17 inch Laptop Backpack, TSA Extra Large Travel Backpack with USB Charging Port, Water Resistant Rucksack for Men, Work Bag Gift for Women College School Business Picnic, Black
A good size practical backpack. Plenty of storage compartments
4 zip compartments on the front include a cold/hot storage area at the bottom front.
On the top part is a medium sized compartment with double zip compartment with key fob attached to the inside.
The two main large compartments on the rucksack. one storage compartment with a USB port. The second main component on the rear is the laptop/ tablet storage.
On the lower back of rucksack is small zip compartment. (For safety storage)
The straps on the rucksack are rugged and are very nicely padded for extra comfort when worn .
The is two side pouches on ether sides of the rucksack.
The rucksack has ample space for storage and also a hot/cold compartment with foil lining .
On the top is a good firm grab handle which is nice and solid with nice padding.
A very good spacious weatherproof rucksack.
Comfortable to wear and very practical.
5 star’s.
I use this backpack for commuting to work with laptop, chargers, bike lock and a few other bits.
Best things about the bag are that it is quite spacious overall. And the space is well proportioned across a number of sections which means I can keep delicate items separate from heavy items, keys easy to hand etc.
The bag has a few nice features. A usb port to connect a power bank to plug into without opening up the bay. It also has the cool bag compartment which I haven’t found a need for yet.
A couple of small gripes. The back section opens up fully which might work for some, but I find that it leads to the beg opening ip more than I intend when getting things in and out leading to things falling across the floor a few times.
The other small gripe is the large padded sections near the straps which sit awkwardly on uk back leading to it feeling a little uncomfortable when tightened. I end up wearing the bag quite loosely to cope with this.
Overall though I’m happy with the bag and continue to use it as my daily for commuting.
I am really impressed with this bag.
The bag is a comfortable and quite large backpack with loads of storage plus more pockets and compartments that I only spotted when I had my second and third looks at the bag.
The primary features are the laptop compartment and the lunch compartment.
The laptop compartment is rated for a 17″ laptop, and with most devices being either 15.6″ or 14″, the laptop compartment would easily hold your computer and the essentials that go with it.
The lunch compartment is large and lined with insulation to help keep warm things warm and cold things cold. Most of the time my focus is on the latter, and it did a great job at helping to keep things cool as I needed them. Despite the compartment being large, I did find that it can be folded up to expand the storage in the main compartment if needed. This could be useful for those shopping trips after work when the extra space is more useful.
There are a lot of very useful compartments in the bag too, such as the second one on the back which is great for organising stationery and office supplies or other things needed for work. There is a security pocket on the back, a couple of water bottle pockets on the sides and powerbank pass through cable that makes keeping your phone topped up a much more convenient experience.
I found the bag to be comfortable, with plenty of padding and wide straps.
Overall, this is a great bag to have, equally at home carrying the essentials on your commute to work or keeping your lunch cool on a day out, or even helping get the cold stuff home while still cold on a shopping trip. I think its fantastic.
This rucksack has a padded laptop compartment big enough for a 17″ laptop, plus a tablet in a non-padded auxiliary sleeve.
The main compartment is quite large and has some small mesh pockets, and the end of a USBA cable to attach a battery pack, which leads to the USBA port on the outside. One does wonder, why is it still USBA at this point? Almost all my devices are now USBC.
There are two front compartments with the usual provision for smaller items, pens, and a keychain.
The main difference between this backpack and every other backpack I’ve ever seen in my life is the integral insulated lunch compartment. This is foil lined, and (like the “shoe compartments” in other backpacks) when filled to capacity will take up some of the internal space of the main compartment. Be aware.
It is very smart in appearance, in a much nicer fabric than the usual rucksacks, and large enough to be a weekend bag for someone who travels reasonably lightly. It appears well made.
All in all, a very nice backpack – but the lunch compartment is a make-or-break feature. If you’re going to use it, it’s brilliant; if you’re not, it’s an inconvenient waste of space.
MATEIN Lunch Backpack, 17 inch Laptop Backpack, TSA Extra Large Travel Backpack with USB
Interesting idea, a laptop bag with an insulated compartment for your drinks and sandwiches etc. This is a standard laptop bag but with the added compartment. When I opened it, I didn’t realise that it can be pushed right in to form quite a large, insulated compartment. Of course, this does take away a huge chunk of space inside of the bag. So, if you were using it for school or college, although you can fit your laptop in, you may have trouble with books etc if you have used the insulated space fully.
There are plenty of other compartments in the backpack and there is even a USB extension that has a lead with a USB-A plug on one end and on the outside of the bag a USB-A port. This can be very hand, maybe have a power-bank connected inside the bag and you can then connect your phone to the outside port.
It seems quite strong and has padding on the shoulder straps and a lower back pad, behind which is a zipped compartment for your valuables. There are plenty of other compartments too, as well as the large, insulated compartment.
The more I examined this backpack, the more I found to like about it. Hopefully you can get a good idea of what it’s like from my pictures, but it has a large padded main compartment at the rear of the backpack that is perfect for a laptop. It has an all-round zip and so can be opened up completely, as shown in one of my pictures. There are two zip fasteners on the zip, which can be locked together if needs be.
The second adjacent compartment is very spacious, and also has a USB lead and plug on the inside, leading to a socket on the outside of the backpack, which will allow you to use a USB battery pack for whatever you might need powering when on the move. It also has a pair of zip fasteners which may be locked together.
Then there’s a front top flap pocket, with a key holder and zipped pocket, and then an outer zipped pocket on the front flap.
The real surprise for me was the front lower pocket which turned out to be an enormous insulated storage compartment. I did not expect that, and it was a delightful surprise as it was so big and unexpected. That’s a big 25ft tape measure rattling around in there, it’s really much bigger than you’d think.
The carry straps are easily adjusted, the rear of the backpack is padded for carrying comfort and I really haven’t got a bad thing to say about this backpack. The features, design, materials used and build quality are all great. Absolutely outstanding and highly recommended!
This arrives folded in a clear plastic bag measuring approx 40cm x 26cm x 12cm.
This is really well made with many pockets in useful places.
There is a padded pocket on the outside of the back that would lie against your spine, sized approx 33cm long by 13cm high (ends are 10cm high, its a slightly curved shape.)
Inside the laptop section there is a padded pocket with a velcro retaining strap, a shorter non padded pocket then the wall between the main compartment of the backpack & the laptop section is also padded.
Inside the main compartment, there is a mesh pocket divided into 2, one of which is to hold a battery bank (not included, but it’s big enough to hold most of the regular sized ones I have).
The port is on the outside of the bag.
The insulated section on the front of the bag can be pushed into the bottom half of the main compartment, but the mesh pockets are just above that so can be used even if you’ve got a big packed lunch in there.
On the front, as well as the cooler pocket, there are 2 zipped pockets above it, one in front of the other.
One has a detachable keyring, a small zipped mesh pocket & some mesh pockets sized for pens or a small mobile, the other is a fairly shallow pocket that could be used to store things like pens/pencils, or a mouse, or a lead for a laptop.
The laptop compartment, main compartment & cooler compartment all have double zips, the others are single zips.
All are decently solid zippers & as well finished as the rest of the backpack.
There are mesh pockets on both sides too, one of which is just below the charging point if you have a battery in place, so you could put e.g. your phone in the pocket & let it charge while you get on with your day.
Straps are adjustable, padded (as is the handle on top of the bag if you are carrying it instead of wearing it on your back) & the finishing on this is excellent.
I actually picked this up purely because it will hold a 17″ laptop & it’s hard to find bags that will do that.
I tried 2 different 17″ laptops & they both fit.
This is really well thought out & has spaces for me to include everything I could need including a sandwich in case I want a snack.
I expect to get years of use out of this backpack, so I’m pretty impressed.
This is a extra large laptop bag, I didn’t expect it to be so big. It has enough storage for papers and books. There is a lunch compartment which keeps food cool. I bought this for myself but I think I will give it to my son who is at university due to size. Loads of storage compartments and quite robust. Time will only tell how long it will last.
This backpack comes in ideal for work as it has plenty of storage space and different compartments with different functions.
This includes an easy access pocket at the front for all of your everyday items, such as keys, wallets, phones, etc.
There’s also a large, main compartment and laptop slot that can take devices up to 17 inches.
The best bit for me is the insulated lunch compartment, which keeps my food and drink a bit cooler as I drive into work before placing it in the fridge.
The material feels of good quality and it has adjustable straps which have a good amount of padding making them comfortable on the shoulders.
All in all, it’s a great bag for work, but a bit on the expensive side.
I hope you found this review helpful.
