Fits great, it is not too tight or too lose, feels super solid and sturdy in hand and on camera. Charging slot door can be opened without taking it off.
Battery door can be opened too but the angle it opens forces you to slide the camera out the cage slightly to open the door fully to get the battery out. That’s the only con I experienced.
All standard stuff like cold shoe mount is there.

I have two Osmo Action 3 cameras that I mainly use for mountain biking. I already have a metal case from another brand for one of them but wanted a second one. I saw this one from Neewer and thought I would give it a try. This case is on par with my other one and feels nice and strong. The button to start/stop recording is a bit firm for my taste however it’s solid and doesn’t stick. I have nothing to test the cold shoe mount with however it’s basically the same size and shape as my other case. The addition of the standard tripod thread mount is also nice should you not have a magnetic mout available for your tripod.
My only “negative” that I have about this mount is that it’s a bit tighter than my other one. It took a bit of extra effort to press the camera into the mount. I’m also not sure I like the locking mechanism because of the little nub that sticks out. It’s nice and strong though and I don’t feel it will accidentally open. My other one is a full finger press down button and a bit easier to open.
Overall this a great product and one that will help protect your camera better than the standard plastic DJI one. Definitely recommended if you beat your camera up like I do.
Neewer did a great job of keeping tight tolerances on this cage. It’s it nice and tight around my DJI Action 3 camera.
I love how you can accessorize the cage as well, as they have provided two quarter inch mount holes one on each side and also a cold shoe mount on top.
Buttons are accessible as they should be, and the release for the door to open the cage operates smoothly and efficiently.
The cage is fairly robust and will definitely help protect the camera. It’s definitely an upgrade from the cheap plastic cage that DJI sells.
So these are great for TWO reasons and I will buy them for all action cameras for this reason. The two reasons are:
1. Protecting from falls. The metal shell protects the corners and gives it space to hopefully stop a screen impact
2. Head dissipation. All action cameras running 4k will overheat. This gives the camera more surface area, as the metal pulls the heat away from the body…giving you more run time.
This frame, specifically for the DJI Osmo Action 3, is lightweight yet protective, a combination that’s hard to come by. The integrated structure makes usage straightforward and simple. I appreciated the full accessibility to the camera functions. The shutter button design is a clever addition, making operations quicker. The easy accessory attachment has made my shoots more versatile, and the swift switching between horizontal and vertical shooting hasbeenaboon.
This tailor-made cage is beautifully-made from aluminium with a metallic anodised finish, and is a pleasure to use. Unlike the original plastic one that came with the camera (see photos for a comparison), this one has a proper hinged door, so the camera can be slid into place rather than sprung through the front opening. It is a snug fit, so a little pressure is needed, but there is absolutely no movement once the door is latched. The mechanical button on the top engages with camera’s and provides a much more positive feel than the DJI case does. There are openings to allow unimpeded use of the magnetic mounts, and the USB port is accessible without removing the camera. The only function that requires at least partial removal is opening the battery and SD card door.
Like all the Neewer gear i have tried, this is thoughtfully-designed, and carefully made. The current price is 41.99, but with the 20% voucher this goes down to under 34.
Adding protection to my Osmo Action 3, this cage maintains a lightweight profile. The integrated structure is a thoughtful feature, making the setup quick and uncomplicated. Original functions and features of the camera remain accessible, which is great. The magnetic connection enables rapid shifts between horizontal and vertical shooting. However, attachment of other accessories might be less seamless. And the metal shutter button, while handy, may not suit everyone’s shooting style.
This camera cage offered an extra layer of protection without compromising on the access to the camera’s functions. The integrated shutter button provided an element of ease to the operation. The magnetic connection facilitated quick switching between horizontal and vertical shooting. Despite its sturdy build, the lightweight feel did not add any bulk to the camera. This is so well thought out, it’s brilliant. Takes seconds to insert the Action 3, click and it’s snug and secure, it hardly makes any difference to the over all size it’s so snug, yet gives excellent all round protection, and the built in magnets mean I can use it with DJI’s magnetic system, great attention to detail.

This action camera cage is absolutely top-notch. The build quality is amazing and the protection offered is incredible. I love the way that both the horizontal and vertical mount points are so easy to use, and the clip to unlock the case is also really sturdy – to a standard that even the original DJI one gets nowhere near.
Accessibility to all ports is fantastic too. My Osmo3 will be wearing this daily from here-on-in!
