Love this color, have been looking for a powder eyeshadow in this shade to replace my discontinued Bare Minerals color. This is kind of opaque, I assumed it was an eyeshadow, after further reading, it’s supposed to be used as a highlighter. I still use it as an eyeshadow, however, I do think it’s a little oily as it makes my eyeliner smudge, so I have to use setting powder. This helps a little, still looking for this color in a powder though.
So this highlighter stick definitely isn’t bad. It’s smooth and stays on with setting powder.
I take fault for getting the white one, However, I wasn’t expecting the grey color of it when it wasn’t shining. This isn’t too big of a deal though since i believe it would fit somwone with neutral or cool toned skin. You don’t have to push hard at all to get a good shine.
Overall I think if cream highlighter is your thing, go for it, but I’m going to stick with powder from now on.
I have always enjoyed dabbling with makeup. As an artist, I do have the skills to paint a face and have a pretty good idea of what works and what doesn’t. This pearly makeup stick is a wonderful addition to my extensive makeup collection. Since buyers cannot see or feel how this product will work, I have attached a video to show the sheerness and how easily it can be rubbed into the skin. It’s really pretty.
WHAT I LIKE:
This white vanilla cream highlighter meets my expectations when highlighting my brow bone, corners of the eyes and inner nose, upper lip, and tip of the nose. I also use it to highlight the apples of my cheeks because it looks beautiful when mixed with my pink blush.
No pencil sharpener required!
Beautiful extreme shimmer when applied with just one stroke. However for a more gentle glow, you can rub it in. As I mentioned above, it blends well with my blush so I am able to highlight the apples of my cheeks.
WHAT I DON’T LIKE:
The major negative about this makeup is the longevity. It only lasted 3 hours when applied to my brows and lids. It remains damp on your skin and doesn’t really dry making it easy to melt away. Since I have some knowledge in how to make makeup last longer, I paired it with my shimmery eyeshadow with a thin light dusting. This helped set (dry) the makeup so that it wouldn’t melt off so easily. I found this made a significant difference in how long the highlighter lasted on my face.
I’ve never been a fan of the twist up stick. The big bulky tip is okay for using on brow bones and cheeks, but awkward if you’re doing lids or corners of the eyes. I like using a brush for more precision and details.
It’s easy to overdo the highlights, and sometimes less is best if you’re a novice.
OVERALL:
Other than the longevity being very short lived without the aid of other products, I find this highlighter gives my makeup a major boost for special occasions. This isn’t something I would wear camping. However, it’s a great option for certain family gatherings, a night out on the town, or a special dinner. This is my go-to stick to give my skin a dewy glowing look and I would recommend it to those who love trying different makeup techniques or anyone who wants to glam themselves up to feel more confident and pretty.
*This the Jumbo Face Highlight Stick, not new types of Jumbo Eye Sticks; earlier reviewers were confused by it.
I bought this hoping to use it as a cream eyeshadow rather than a highlighter and it’s beautiful. The formula is very creamy and emollient so it glides on without tugging and I didn’t experience any fallout or eye irritation. It blends easily but remains slightly tacky and although it can crease, a few pats with a finger or brush will smooth them out.
Vanilla Ice Cream is a very bright icy white with a sparkling metallic finish that applies relatively opaque but can be sheered out for more translucency. It’s beautiful as a one and done look, paired with powder shadows as an all over lid color and/or as an inner corner/brow bone highlight. I’m vampire pale and sometimes white shades blend in and are difficult to see but even with hooded lids, this brings a stunning pop of light to my dark brown, almost black, eyes
Although icy white highlights suit my skintone well, this is much too sparkly to use on my face so I’ve only worn it on my eyes. I definitely recommend it but because this isn’t made specifically for the eyes, those looking for a traditional shadow stick that sets down, lasts all day and doesn’t crease will likely be disappointed.
I was surprised and concerned when this face stick arrived without any indication of its ingredients: no box, no pamphlet, and no ingredients listed on the label. Don’t Canadian consumer protection laws say that all cosmetics have to show the ingredients, I wondered. A quick internet search suggested, Yes.
But then I tried it, and loved it. Color: Blueberry Muffin (which is not blue, but a bright, pink (non-red, non-coral, true pink, with blueish undertones on the lips—I did not notice the blue on my cheeks).
Pros:
1. Glides on very easily: no pulling or tugging of the skin.
2. Blends easily with fingertips.
3. Wipes off easily on fingers or tissues, if you use too much.
4. Being unsure of the ingredients, I put a light facial oil on my skin first, hoping to seal it a bit. This stick worked well with that: the color did not run.
5. It had “staying power” for 5 hours or so; I didn’t use a lot. Perhaps had I layered it on, it would have lasted longer. There was still a hint of color 6 hours later, but just a hint. I will continue to experiment with it.
6. I also tried it on my lips: it glided right on, again no pulling or tugging on my skin.
7. On my lips, the color was divine! I’ve never seen a color like it: pink, with mauve undertones, and a 3D-ish kind of glimmer/shine. It wasn’t a “wet”, lip-gloss-like shine; it was deeper, multi-dimensional. I loved it! Others noticed, too: as soon as I walked into work, 2 women said, “Wow, what are you wearing on your lips?” So it’s not just me that is impressed.
8. This gorgeous color looks natural on the cheeks. I search endlessly for blush that will look natural, not like make-up products. This one is great. I have fair to light skin: not exactly Nordic white, but one shade darker than that, so many colors are too dark, too red, too orange, too peach, too something else. I had not expected this one to be so perfect for me.
Con:
1. Just one, as in my opening paragraph: What ingredients are in this stick? I always check with the Environmental Working Group’s (EWG) online list of cosmetic ingredients to learn the safety and possible concerns with any product I’m using that may be absorbed into my body through my skin. I’d really like to see the list for this product, especially since I love it so much and want to use it daily.
Conclusion: I love it! Minus one star, though, for not informing users what the ingredients are.
This has a creamy and easy to blend texture. It’s perfect for adding highlights to the inner corner of your eyes and brow. I’ve used eyeshadows and eye pencils to do this, but this works better.
