Once built it is fine, 140 minutes to build according to the instructions. 140 minutes to understand the instructions, read them against a mirror while standing on your head an you will be fine.
All joking aside, good greenhouse once built, but only four stars as the automatic window opener was broken and unable to use. Only found this out after I had built the greenhouse. Will contact the seller and see what they say.
One real upset is the door and door furniture (including magnetic retainer), a little frustrating to align and achieve a good, secure and satisfactory / position. Careful not to loose any of the small washers, you’ll need 12 of them when hanging the door.
I’ve not used any sealant just yet but will likely get to that in a day or so, as I go back around checking all the bolts, pretty sure I tightened them all.
On the whole, when finished, it really is quite solid and ridged. Fingers crossed it can withstand some wind.
Brilliant greenhouse as it is taller than most due to the metal that makes up the integral growing beds.
I constructed it for a few hours a day in about 3 weeks, taking note of the weather, as it is flimsy until it is all complete, however, I used the corner bracing bars during construction to give it rigidity during some windy weather during the 3 weeks before it was finished.
I sealed the ends of all the panels with clear Gorilla tape, and used clear silicon to fix the polycarbonate panel in place.
Instructions made me laugh with the badly translated safety warnings, but the photos were easily understood making construction straight forward. With 8mm &10mm spanners at the ready, it was an enjoyable experience.
It took me 3 days to assemble. The polycarbonate panels are thin (5mm) and flimsy. After assembly I sealed all the panels in with clear silicone which makes everything more sturdy. I concreted in the corner posts to the ground (as it is light and could move in a strong wind.
The nuts and bolts are small & have have to be slotted into grooves. – Really fiddly!
Follow the instructions, don’t try to skip a step. You should slot as many bolts into the grooves as stated as they are then used later on (even if it doesn’t make sense at the time).
Make sure everything is square and level or you will struggle to insert the panels.
Happy building!
This is not the first Outsunny product I have bought, so that might be why I didn’t have many of the issues reported.
Yes the instructions at times are difficult and in aces it is fiddly to get the nuts and bolts in (small child’s hands would make it easier!). However, I think it is not as bad as reported on the building and put this up over 2 days mostly on my own. Like many I didn’t put in some of the bolts into the channels, but I found this easy sorted by a 9mm metal drill bit to open up the channel and then you can easily slide in any missing ones!
A lot easier than dismantling and rebuilding.
I would happily buy another if I had the room.
Just had our first high winds and touch wood stood up perfectly.
Instructions quite brief and not really clear, it takes a while to assemble and needs more than 2 people to do so.
Does not feel sturdy but as we haven’t had any high winds since construction cannot really comment.
The window panels need to be siliconed in as very light weight, and just slide into place.
You need to read all the instructions before starting construction as half way through you need to slide nuts into frame you have already attached so have to dismantle to do so, as this is not clear from initial instruction. Nice looking and only time will tell if it stands up to the great British weather.
Update : 7 panels blown out by wind (not really that bad a wind to be honest) found around allotments and put back in, bit of advice silicone the poly panels in as they do not fair well in the wind.
Take your time to go through the instructions before you even consider assembly. Leave yourself plenty of time as partial construction leaves the structure weak. I concreted in the feet and secured the windows with clear sealant and it is now structurally sound. Be prepared to loosen bolts to get other stuff to fit, and you definitely need another pair of hands for some bits (particularly the roof sections). This is inexpensive because it requires a large time investment by the purchaser. If you dont want to sacrifice your weekend building it, buy something else. If you like 3D puzzles you’ll love this.
Seems good sturdy greenhouse
Instructions fairly easy to follow had to do some things in a different order
Glazing fits in easily
Added a door catch at the top of door as there is only one at bottom to stop top moving abou
The door and windows are flimsy. The door wobbles around and and is difficult to close ( yes the base of the greenhouse is level.. ) The window stays are hard to use and pull the windows into a closed position, I don’t think my wife has enough strength in her fingers to close them.
I suppose you get what you pay for, but suspect that other makes of the same type would be just as difficult to assemble.
My son helped to assemble the greenhouse and was interested because his wife was wanting one, she won’t be getting one now after all the hassle we had.
For the price though, it will do exactly what you need it to.
Take care with the instructions and make sure to look a few pages ahead so you don’t have to dismantle what you already built.
But, it is a good product at a very good price. It’s been 20c max here recently, it’s been 32c inside and the auto window opener does work, although difficult to attach.
It does recommend to people but I was on my own so it took a lot longer had to do it in sections and make sure it was tied down before leaving it just in case the wind picks up
A year later update, two large panels were blown out with the windy weather. Definitely place it on a more solid base as I’ve had rats burrowing under mine!!!
I personally love this greenhouse, however, it took some putting together. You definitely need 2 people, the instructions are mainly pictures and what little writing there is, is in french, which is fun. The nuts and bolts (and there are hundreds) are super small and some of the locations that require them are extremely fiddly. ( you need both spanners and for your own sanity a drill with socket attachments). I personally couldn’t make head nor tail of the diagrams, luckily my husband could, but they took some deciphering, a few tantrums and plenty of swearing.
You also need a spirit level and one of those gadgets that you measure angles with.
I don’t think building it during the coldest month helped, doing anything with numb fingers is hard work.
Top tip would be that many of the uprights and the roof bars require you to slide additional nuts and bolts into them before securing them to the main frame, because later on there are little support pieces that need to be attached and you will cry if you forget or don’t realise until it’s too late and you have to dismantle a section.
Once built ( we took 2 weekends to complete ours mainly because it was so fiddly and we were freezing) we ran some clear gorilla tape along the inside of the windows to ensure the panes don’t pop out when it’s windy as it is quite exposed where we are.
Ours is built on a gravel drive, to secure it and weigh it down we have used concrete lintels cut to size. So far so good and it gets very hot inside, this week has been -4 outside and +34 inside, luckily the greenhouse has 2 windows that open.
