The birds seem to really enjoy the peanut butter feeders – I’ve got two of them in my garden – and this refill pack is great value for money. The great tits seem to be their most regular customers, but I’ve seen a few other birds visiting them too.
We have used the Flutter Butter EcoRefills for a number of years. Lots of birds are attracted to the feeder. It is important to place the feeder in a place not accessible to squirrels, as they too love it. A large veriety of birds, especially the smaller ones, visit throughout the year.
I’ve given five stars for ‘Flavour’ based on the popularity with the birds rather than personal experience.
The ecorefill idea is a good one and makes replenishment easy and mess-free.
Boxes badly damaged during delivery. Bought as gift so couldn’t use in this state. HOWEVER, contacted Jacobi Jayne who were more than helpful and supplied replacement boxes, excellent customer service. Advise to always buy direct from Living With Birds, Jacobi Jayne as I have never had any problems with the way they pack their goods or deliveries. They take great care and pride in their products.
They are easy to replace and although a little expensive the birds literally flock to them.they are definitely value for money.I replace them on a very regular basisthoroughly recommend them.
Our birds love these flutter butter refills and I love the easy of changing them, win win.
We have old feeders and these didn’t allow you to screw them into the main body of the feeder. I telephoned the flutter butter company helpline on the box and they sent a couple of new replacements. Theses then fitted perfectly, great customer service and great produc
The blue tits just love it but , unfortunately when the starlings arrive, they frighten off the small birds and go through great acrobatics to feast on the flutter butter. However, they don’t stay long and the smaller birds can go back to enjoying it but it certainly doesn’t seem to last long and I have sometimes had to add a refill after only a couple of days.
I find all the tits and woodpeckers enjoy these. They last a fair while too. Also bei g soft you can put these up even when birds are nesting as they won’t choke theor chick’s if they feed them this, unlike whole peanuts. I think my parent birds were using this to top up their own energy this spring and summer.
On the “eco” side I’m not sure. These are now plastic refill to go in the existing glass jar from previous refills. Plastic not good and can only ne recycled a couple of times, but lighter to transport? So as with everything we must do better!
I have also had ine of these slip out or be pulled out. Something to watch if you have squirrels …or dogs in the garden.
Didn’t realise that as a refill it fitted inside the original more solid container.
Thankfully I still had one otherwise I would have had to return.
Price was comparable to the original
Birds love it, so everyone is happy
I spend a ridiculous amount on wild bird food, though the avian antics in the garden are way more entertaining than the BBC!
One day, some years ago, I decided to add Flutter Butter to my offering. Trouble is that, round here, the hard plastic jars are very difficult to recycle. Enter these refill pods. Which are “soft” plastic. They simply fit inside the hard jar in the feeder and the empties go in the recycling bin. Cost-wise, they cost about the same.
And I’m happy and my guests are happy. Woodpeckers, tits, finches, nuthatches all peck away happily and a couple of refill pods should last a month. Great.
Enter starlings! They’ve discovered the pod feeders. So now, without mortgaging the house, I have to limit things to 2 pods, religiously placed out on the first of the month. And the starlings only drop by once a month. Fortunately, the rest usually manage their first-of-the-month treat before the guzzlers arrive and devour the pod contents in minutes.
Whatever. I’ll stick to my rationing and simply assume that this stuff is good. I haven’t the foggiest idea what it tastes like, of course, so don’t ask!
