I’ve used it to blend ginger and turmeric.
Tomatoes potatoes , beans , all smooth…
Other than the noise, this is a good blender.
I’m taking one star off for the noise
It’s a blender, so easy to use, don’t think the blades are too sharp though as doesn’t really cut through harder solids but you’ll get by for most of your needs. Good produc
This is one of my better buys this year at an affordable cost. I really needed this because I cannot eat solids for a while and I used it to make a healthy shake, of frozen berries, dried goji berries, yoghurt, lysine powder, dried pineapple powder and almond milk. All were mixed together in less than 30 seconds! I will be making pumpkin soup this week with it as well.
Just make sure it’s properly locked, I originally was going to return this as I was very disappointed as there was No power to it at all and read other reviews saying the same. After reviewing and arranging a return I decided to take another look as thought it really strange there was just no power. I had already read it must be locked in order to blend and really thought I had locked it but it needed one more push and it fully locked into place and I got my caramel coffee frappe.
A very simple product to use and keep clean. Makes great smoothies and soups quickly. No mess and the locking mechanism on the jug and lid prevents accidents. I would recommend this product and would purchase again.
It is plastic not glass but this hasn’t made too much difference so far. For an item that gets occasional use, this is ideal. Picked it up on offer, sub 30. Can’t go wrong at that price!
Good for blending soup, milkshake and more.
This was bought to make ginger shot as I refuse to pay the ridiculous shop prices for ready made. It is brilliant, so good, in fact, I am now making two other family members theirs! Children love the smoothies It can throw out in seconds, it makes making hot sauces a breeze, and soups are next on the menu. For twenty five quid you cannot complain. Granted, not the biggest capacity at 1 litre but it so simple to use and even easier to clean. If you are new to using one then get this, it is a no brainer.
I guess I should not have expected so much for the price. You’d need to cut items in small pieces to blend. It’s better for small quantities and cannot blend very hard food items
I make a smoothie every day (more or less) and in it I have ffour rozen spinach lumps about 2cm x 2cm. I make about a litre of smoothie. I don’t use my blender for anything else. In the past few years I have gone through about four blenders because of this level of use. This Philips blender is the best I’ve owned … so far. I’ve only owned it for about three months so I cannot testify to its longevity but so far it is as good as new.
Its container is narrow at the bottom so the blades can ‘reach’ everything. Some containers are wide at the bottom and the blades don’t reach out far enough and the result is lumpy smoothie or just longer blend times. This makes the Philips more efficient. Even though it is not the most powerful blender I have owned it is the quickest. I’ve had more powerful blenders take twice as long.
It’s easy to clean, because I use it every day it’s an important factor for me. I’ve had blenders that had stuff in impossible to reach places that needed complete dismantling of fiddly bits of rubber and subunits … real pain. The Philips is easy to clean with no dismantling of anything.
It’s easy to use. There’s one speed (plus pulse). The container fits easily onto the base intuitively and with a satisfying click. The lid doesn’t have a removable plug in its centre, less to clean. Simple. Less to go wrong.
It copes easily with frozen spinach lumps.
It’s not expensive compared with other blenders.
In the past I’ve had blenders made by morphy richards, russell hobbes, sainsbury’s’, and chinese ones. the morphy richards was the only one to come close to the Philips. (All lowest-end of their respective ranges).
Conclusion: Hands down the Philips is the best blender I’ve owned. It’s the most efficient, quickest, easiest to use, intuitive, easy to clean and did I mention lightest and quietest?? The only caveat is how long will it last? So far (approx 3 months) it’s been terrific with every sign of lasting years … but we’ll see …
